Would you judge me?

I’m being a little vague (deliberately) please forgive me.

My husband is going for what equates to an interview.

I’ll also be visible to the interviewers.

If I was wearing an LV scarf and carrying a mulberry or LV bag too would you judge me negatively?

Sorry I know it’s a weird scenario!

It's about the audience. I'd think you overspent on items that don't matter. I would hazard a guess the people interviewing you guys would be impressed by such attire?

I don’t think they would necessarily notice. But if they do I’m worried they’ll think negatively of me. I’m not sure. Arghhh. Sorry I know it’s weird and vague!

I wouldn't notice. If they are expensive items, I would think you must be wealthy

Gonnagetgoing · 01/04/2022 19:59

Why on earth are you trying to either impress them or worry about what they think?

It’s a designer logo bag and designer logo scarf.

If you think they’ll think negatively of you just don’t wear the scarf or show the bag(s).

Oh it's so hard to say without more info... So if you were in the background and the job was for a food bank volunteer co-ordinator I'd think you're out of touch and haven't read the room. Does that help at all?!

Ithinkitsadoughnut · 01/04/2022 20:02

I'd say you do whatever is normal for you. Then if they meet you in future, you'll be just the same. They're not interviewing you, I assume? Hope it goes well.

@Frostylaudanum - a few years ago I used to see a woman where I lived who’d always carry a different designer bag, not Mulberry, but eg fendi etc. It got to the stage that whoever i was with (boyfriend then or friend I travelled to work with would comment on it).

Saw her a few years later none of the bags were there. Found out we knew a mutual friend. It’d all been bought on credit cards, she’d been made redundant and also made bankrupt.

It’s not a food bank, I’m not that out of touch!

Thank you.

No they’re not interviewing me but I’m expected to be there. It’s a weird setup I know!

These things are normal for me.

Unless you were obviously all designer logos, I'd not even notice.

WildFlowerBees · 01/04/2022 20:05

Depends on which LV bag you'd be carrying.

Neonoe in empreinte leather. It’s not particularly in your face.

Well then you needn't worry as you know the role so can judge for yourself if it's appropriate.

Peboh · 01/04/2022 20:08

If anyone else just super intrigued as to what job interview requires the non applying spouse to be there too?

dumdumduuuummmmm · 01/04/2022 20:10

If you are genuinely worried then don't wear the scarf. Hardly rocket science.

With a visible handbag, and wearing a scarf!
WTF475878237NC · 01/04/2022 20:12

It reminds me of the 90s Gene Hackman Tom Cruise film the Firm Grin

I think I’m just overthinking it! They probably won’t even notice.

Branded and high end items can go either way for me, it depends on who's carrying it and how they carry themselves in general? Sometimes if they seem terribly mismatched to the persons style in general I presume they are replicas.

picklemewalnuts · 01/04/2022 20:16

Party selection interviews?

Qwill · 01/04/2022 20:17

Not sure people would notice, unless they’re big fans of that brand, or have watched a lot of reality tv (Essex, Cheshire Wives, etc.)!

evilharpy · 01/04/2022 20:18

I'm also desperate to know what the interview is, I can't imagine appearing at an interview of my husband's!

I think I'd avoid anything with obvious logos for any sort of interview.

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 20:18

@picklemewalnuts

Party selection interviews?
Lol, no😂

Cirelle · 01/04/2022 20:19

If you were carrying a Mulberry I’d probably think you were middle class and a little outdated. Visible logos are a bit passé. I wouldn’t assume you were rich if that’s what you’re worried about - exactly the opposite in fact.

LizzoBorden · 01/04/2022 20:20

Why do you want to wear that? If you’re worried about it I mean? Is it a face to face meeting?
