Would you judge me?

I’m being a little vague (deliberately) please forgive me.

My husband is going for what equates to an interview.

I’ll also be visible to the interviewers.

If I was wearing an LV scarf and carrying a mulberry or LV bag too would you judge me negatively?

Sorry I know it’s a weird scenario!

A lot of people feeling a bit jealous, and so trying to make the OP feel bad by doing the 'Oh, are you worried you'll look outdated?' Head tilt, tinkly laugh'.

The most sensible comments on this thread have come from @AngelinaFibres.

Some of these comments have come from a place of ignorance and stereotypes, and many have been quite unkind.

Hope all goes well, op and that the parish/post is a good fit for you all.

“Trust me in this, being a vicar is NOT a well paid job! Not nearly well paid enough for the crap they have to put up with!”

Just a ‘job’? Thought it was a vocation? A calling from God?
Dealing with ‘crap’? Do you mean their flock, their community, their parish?

Blimey vicars are called to be servants of Christ. Not moaning about their pay and conditions.

Undertaking a vocation does not mean you shouldn't expect reasonable pay and conditions the same as anyone else. And no, they don't (my parents) moan about either. They are the kindest, most generous and lovely people I know who would help anyone, part of 'their flock' or not. It was me who said that as a vicars daughter.

Do you think if someone does a job that's a vocation that they deserve less than someone who just has a job? That they're never entitled to think it's hard or that people are unkind or that the money worked in rl ph actually isn't much? If we're going down the Called by God route, he's hardly one to dish out cushy jobs to the loyal, seems reasonable vicars and their families would be asked a lot of and therefore are entitled to moan. Being mere mortals and all, like the rest of us.

You're either not a churchgoer, or you're one of the ones who gives the vicar endless crap to deal with.

Congregations can be tricky. The church I grew up at basically took against one poor vicar until he went off with stress and then moved parish down to Cornwall (from a suburb in the north west). I'm not sure that it was coincidental that he was a single bloke - no wife to shield him, like his predecessor and successor have (and fair or not, a lot of vicars' wives do end up doing some deflection from the madder elements of the congregation).

The church I go to now has a coterie of people with constant frivolous bitching complains. Every church does. The vicar may be looking after his flock in a 'feed my sheep' sort of way, but it doesn't mean that the sheep can't be fucking annoying half the time.

Also, I liked the Mulberry. Quite fancy one of those. I'm afraid I always assume that LV is fake, though, after the big craze for it when I was in my teens!

Mydogmylife · 02/04/2022 20:57

@gunnersgold

Regarding london I meant Lv isn't readily available and some people don't even know it exists . It's not like other brands , lv is only sold in harrods / Selfridges and flannels online etc .

I do realise there is money out of London but people I see with them in the south are clearly fakes .

It's not like other brands that are a few hundred , they are thousands for a bag so I would just think you were wearing fakes if your lifestyle doesn't match the brand..
🤷‍♀️

So no one outside London has the ' appropriate ' lifestyle? Your apparent attitude to anyone outside the London bubble is pretty shocking actually

Commenting on the picture of the bag. It's a nice bag and I don't think you'd have any problems with it. To be honest, I wouldn't bat an eyelid. I'm fashion ignorant so wouldn't recognise the brand anyway.

"Then they are living off his wife's money! Trust me in this, being a vicar is NOT a well paid job! Not nearly well paid enough for the crap they have to put up with!"

so do blokes with private means never get called by God then? What about the non stipendiary crowd?

Neither would I. I'm honestly not being snarky, I am so brand/designer unaware when it comes to fashion and accessories. It's just not something on my radar.

It's a nice bag though.
