Would you judge me?

I’m being a little vague (deliberately) please forgive me.

My husband is going for what equates to an interview.

I’ll also be visible to the interviewers.

If I was wearing an LV scarf and carrying a mulberry or LV bag too would you judge me negatively?

Sorry I know it’s a weird scenario!

Is it a live in sort of interview. I know at my school sometimes married teachers were living in with some responsibility to the boarders

Ambition9to5 · 01/04/2022 21:01

@gunnersgold

Unless you are in London I'd think they were fake ! I notice clothes and brands though . Why not just not wear them then you'll blend in 🤷‍♀️
What? No shops outside of london??
godmum56 · 01/04/2022 21:03

if it is for a post in the church, i know someone whose husband is a vicar and when this was put to her, she wouldn't play ball. She is a uni lecturer and said that she (while a regular churchgoer herself) would not be having any role in the pastoral life of the church as she has 2 kids and a full time job and so politely declined to be part of the interview process. He got the job.

Ambition9to5 · 01/04/2022 21:04

Oh the crusty line up interviewing your h wont know if your bag cost enough to feed a family for 2 months.
But if the did know, you are you, YOU ARE NOT THE VICAR. you didnt take a vow of poverty. Treat yourself if you have yr own j9b. Lots of people are paid worse.

Sensible. I was brought up with all of this. Vicar's wives expected to have no income, no pension? Just hang around making sandwiches

@iCouldSleepForAYear

Think of the logos as just another statement pattern. Layer too many on and it clashes. Takes the focus away from you the person and puts too much emphasis on the designer name.

If you feel like your comfortable self with either item, choose one for the day. Make it your statement piece and keep the rest of your outfit more neutral.

(She says while wearing jeans and an electric pink striped sweater... Wink)

The rest of my outfit is very neutral.

Pale grey cashmere jumper, navy slim trousers and navy flats.

I’ve decided to ditch the scarf.

I've just googled 'spouses at job interviews' and it seems it's a thing for some executive positions . Go on op , put us out of our misery Smile

PeacefulPottering · 01/04/2022 21:10

So many questions!!

  1. Is baby coming as well? Why do you need a baby bag at an interview?
  2. Can you dress nicely without the LV bits?
  3. Have you done this before? What did you wear? Can you just wear the same?
4.Is your Husband going to be wearing LV as well? Do you need to match as it were?
  1. Why are you being so mysterious? ( Genuine question!)

Definitely not an executive 😂

I think that sounds fine OP, especially if it’s a vicar’s wife position as PPs have posted, it would be perfect. My friend’s mum is a vicar’s wife and she wears similar. Good luck with the interview!

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:10

Baby is coming yes😂

gogkoti · 01/04/2022 21:12

Not just any grey jumper
A great cashmere jumper Wink

I think a designer bag is fine as long as it doesn't have the logo printed all over it as that can look a bit tacky in my opinion! Deffo no to the scarf if it is plastered with a logo.

PeacefulPottering · 01/04/2022 21:14

I think we have nailed it!!
Vicars Wife. Needs to look nice but not ott. Baby can come to as it's a family situation. Def not executive!

arethereanyleftatall · 01/04/2022 21:15

I have absolutely no idea what lv stands for not what mouberry (or whatever you said) is. I would have zero idea if you were wearing/carrying said things. No one gives a shit do they?

JosephineDeBeauharnais · 01/04/2022 21:15

What’s the baby wearing? I feel that might be equally important, if not more so. Can’t have “character” tops or anything with dinosaurs, and a tutu is only acceptable if on a boy. This is potentially a minefield.
It’s the Freemasons isn’t it?

LaMarschallin · 01/04/2022 21:15

Why all the 😂s?

It's nice you're getting lots of LOLs out of this, but why have you asked the question if you're not going to explain? Nobody can suggest anything useful unless you do.

chisanunian · 01/04/2022 21:16

I wouldn't judge, no. But then I wouldn't recognise a designer bag if I fell over it. Even if I did, I couldn't bring myself to care one way or the other.

FawnFrenchieMum · 01/04/2022 21:19

@OverByYer

Is it a zoom interview? I have an image of you wandering around in the background flicking a scarf around and holding a handbag in view behind a seated husband on camera.
This was my exact image! Grin

Ooh yes and how will baby make their entrance?

Silvercross?
Bugaboo?
Egg?

We need more details! Grin

Because the guesses were very entertaining.

Apologies for having a sense of humour.

As I said upthread, a poster guessed my husband’s profession.

LV I would judge negatively (secretly but not openly)
Mulberry I wouldn't notice

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:22

In a desperately in need of a wipe umbrella pram if you must know.

Booboobagins · 01/04/2022 21:23

@Gonnagetgoing

Why on earth are you trying to either impress them or worry about what they think?

It’s a designer logo bag and designer logo scarf.

If you think they’ll think negatively of you just don’t wear the scarf or show the bag(s).

I agree. Just look presentable, you don't need to brand up on an interview unless tgat is what is expected....
jeremyjamjam · 01/04/2022 21:24

This is just bizarre! Obviously the most logical thing is to not wear a scarf / have a bag that is clearly designer. Ie no great big LV logos etc. Unless all you own is stuff plastered with logos. In which case I'd judge you a bit as I'd think you had pretty poor style, sorry!

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:25

I’m not “branding up” for the interview. It’s what I wear/use most days and I’m trying to decide if I should not.
