Would you judge me?

I’m being a little vague (deliberately) please forgive me.

My husband is going for what equates to an interview.

I’ll also be visible to the interviewers.

If I was wearing an LV scarf and carrying a mulberry or LV bag too would you judge me negatively?

Sorry I know it’s a weird scenario!

I wouldn't judge, I would probably notice though and just think you liked your style etc.
I think it's different to just wear it and purposely be flashing it around etc.
if you're purposely flashing a Rolex at the camera or something then I'd probably judge negatively.
But not if you're just sat there with your outfit on lol
You're allowed to have nice things. I kinda feel like you're overthinking it a little

teezletangler · 01/04/2022 21:25

Is this standard for a parish vicar? Fascinating! Are you and the baby just going to sit in a pew? I suppose it all makes sense if it's a second interview / meet and greet the wardens or the congregation type thing.

Perfectlystill · 01/04/2022 21:26

Yes I would judge you I think that

SockFluffInTheBath · 01/04/2022 21:26

If you were wearing them so as to flash them I’d think you were a cock. If you seemed comfortable and like they were normal for you I’d think nothing of them (in terms of judging you).

Perfectlystill · 01/04/2022 21:26
  • in that
Neverendingdust · 01/04/2022 21:26

Go without labels. Less reason to judge.

LaMarschallin · 01/04/2022 21:27

Apologies for having a sense of humour.

Not at all.
It's nice that you're amused by someone wondering if your husband's an executive or if your baby is coming to an interview-type situation.

If you told us why it was so hilarious, we could all join in.

Vapeyvapevape · 01/04/2022 21:28

Op : I've decided not to wear the designer scarf as I don't want to look too flashy
MN: Yes good call
Op: Have you met my child?

Would you judge me?
godmum56 · 01/04/2022 21:28

@Sexnotgender

Just look presentable, you don't need to brand up on an interview unless tgat is what is expected.

I’m not “branding up” for the interview. It’s what I wear/use most days and I’m trying to decide if I should not.

I think if you are going to go along with the concept, then they should see what they are getting......unless you are going to change your personal style for the forseeable future.

Because the guesses ranged from a probation hearing, to a trial, to an executive.

I deliberately didn’t say I was a vicar’s wife because people are VERY judgmental about that.

I'm thinking eg a housemaster job at a boarding school where the wife lives on the premises too.

I would think it was a bit tacky tbh. If I were you I would wear stiff that may be just as expensive but is less blingy and more elegant.

TheHoptimist · 01/04/2022 21:30

Are you worried that LV says Dubai porta potty lifestyle? (to pick up on another thread)

Ah, what a cutie.

No designer labels for the baby though. She’s fond of a raspberry and they’re a bugger to get out of clothes.

@Sexnotgender have to say your outfit sounds lovely and I’d go with all my nice things on 🥰

Vapeyvapevape · 01/04/2022 21:32

Hope the interview goes well Op , will they be asking you any questions? I've never thought about vicars being interviewed before.

SirChenjins · 01/04/2022 21:33

@gogkoti

Not just any grey jumper A great cashmere jumper Wink

I think a designer bag is fine as long as it doesn't have the logo printed all over it as that can look a bit tacky in my opinion! Deffo no to the scarf if it is plastered with a logo.

This made me laugh Grin I found myself saying it in an M&S ad voice for added effect.

I love threads like this - OP, thank you for a good giggle on a quiet Friday night and I wish your DH all the best in his interview Smile

Btw - Are you allowed to speak, or do you just have to have to display a table of baked goods, arrangements of flowers and jams? Grin

PeacefulPottering · 01/04/2022 21:34

OP, take no notice of the whingers on here! I very much enjoyed guessing your hubby's profession! I also don't get out much 😆 Hope your interview goes great and yes I reckon you should wear your LV if you want, gone are the days vicars wives had to be frumpy and in grey (cashmere excepted!)

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:36

I’ve never made jam @SirChenjins I do make a lovely shortbread though.
I’m allowed to speak 😂 I don’t get interviewed but we have been for lunch with the head of the committee already and obviously they’re making judgments all the time.

SleepingStandingUp · 01/04/2022 21:36

As a vicars wife, I'd probably keep it all quite neutral. So if you need something for nappies, do you not have a non branded nappy bag? Just a clean tidy normal nappy bag?
Re the scarf, will it have LV all over it or is it one of theirs but you'd only know if you knew?

Sexnotgender · 01/04/2022 21:37

Now do I wear the pearls and the twin set?

OP posts:
PlainJaneEyre · 01/04/2022 21:37

Do you work yourself @Sexnotgender ? A vicar's salary doesn't extend to expensive bags and scarves. It all sounds very antiquated I have to say.

TheHoptimist · 01/04/2022 21:37

The threshold isnt high- there is a national shortage If they have testicles they are front of the queue

I don’t own a nappy bag 😞 I use a mulberry backpack.

I can feel the judgment coming…

I'd personally think designer stuff completely covered in the logos is a bit gaudy but I wouldn't just designer stuff generally.
I might think you're a bit high maintenance.

SirChenjins · 01/04/2022 21:38

Bring along a tin of your best shortbread and they will forgive you any sartorial transgressions, I’m sure Grin
