I’m getting married in September, we are both mid-fifties and have been married before. It’s a small register office wedding with immediate family, followed by a family meal and then an evening party with family and friends. I have toyed with a mid length wedding dress but not really feeling it and my fiancé after chatting about the wedding is hoping to see me in a full length dress.

I really liked this Ghost dress online and managed to order it with a 10% discount. It’s a small which looked tiny on the hanger, and I still can’t believe it actually fitted. It needs a good steam, but does it suit me and my figure or is too hippy?

I like simple styles and unfussy necklines, definitely no plunging fronts. I’m wearing heels in the photo but would get a very slightly higher pair which would lift the length.

I don’t want to make the wrong decision, so would appreciate honest (but kind) thoughts please.

Absolutely gorgeous 🥰

Kdubs1981 · 16/03/2022 19:33

I love it! Gives you a lovely hourglass shape. I might think about a belt with it? Just very narrow or a sash to define your small waist?

Nelliephant1 · 16/03/2022 19:34

Maybe a belt would make a difference

BiscuitLover3678 · 16/03/2022 19:35

It gives you a gorgeous hourglass

roundtable · 16/03/2022 19:43

Lovely op!

I agree with no belt. I think a headband but not blingy, maybe pearls or something embroidered but flat to the head. You look beautiful whatever you decide.

Northernlurker · 16/03/2022 19:43

I think it looks gorgeous. Your fiancé is doubtless very familiar with your figure and you will look like you but a fabulous you in that dress. Great choice.

Alliswells · 16/03/2022 19:43

@Halllyup17

Honestly, I think it does nothing for you, sorry. It reminds me of one of those loo roll dolls. Too frilly at the arms and too figure-hugging for me.
Ah you big meanie!!!!

You can't please everybody but I absolutely love love that dress on you OP. Your figure is amazing!

DogsAndGin · 16/03/2022 19:52

Bloody gorgeous!!! Your figure is stunning too!

ReeseWitherfork · 16/03/2022 19:53

No to the belt, yes to the peonies ❤️

AnneShirleysNewDress · 16/03/2022 19:56

Stunning! I love it and you look fantastic. Yes to peonies. I hope you both have a lovely day.

Merlott · 16/03/2022 19:58

Absolutely elegant and stunning!!!!

Blossomtoes · 16/03/2022 20:00

Oooooh peonies! Best flower ever.

Tana433 · 16/03/2022 20:04

I think it is beautiful and it really suits you. As long as you can move around, sit and eat comfortably in it, i would say go for it!

ChickenStripper · 16/03/2022 20:29

@Blossomtoes

Oooooh peonies! Best flower ever.
Unlikely to get peonies in August but a great substitute are the David Austin white roses.

I like it apart from the neckline. A lower neckline would be more flattering.

declutteringmymind · 16/03/2022 20:35

Try it with a belt and see what happens. Maybe even one coloured the same as the dress.

You look beautiful, I hope you feel equally so.

NeedleNoodle3 · 16/03/2022 20:36

It’s beautiful

Knittedfairies · 16/03/2022 20:37

Beautiful! It doesn't need a belt though.

Daisy03 · 16/03/2022 20:42

I'd have to see the side and back profiles but I'm in the minority that thinks it looks too hip dominant.
However good underwear will make all the difference

easterdaffsx · 16/03/2022 21:39

Do what's feels good for you ?
The dress look stunning on you . However if you have to ask on here maybe you're not feeling it ?

Rosebuud · 16/03/2022 22:44

Sone of these comments just goes to show different tastes, the op is wearing a size ten, in real life she will look very small. She’s also mid fifties, blinging it up with a tiara and a belt is not necessary, she can go for classy and elegant. Delicate jewellery, nice heals, and she will look fab. She doesn’t need to deck her self out in fake diamonds. 😂

Sometimes, less really is more.

leeds2glasgow · 16/03/2022 23:43

Not for me

HomeEdMom · 16/03/2022 23:48

I'm just here for the tips about how to have such an amazing figure as a woman in her fifties... pretty please!

stevalnamechanger · 17/03/2022 07:14

I think you look incredible

Girlintheframe · 17/03/2022 07:57

You look fantastic!
