What do you think of this Ghost Wedding Dress?

I’m getting married in September, we are both mid-fifties and have been married before. It’s a small register office wedding with immediate family, followed by a family meal and then an evening party with family and friends. I have toyed with a mid length wedding dress but not really feeling it and my fiancé after chatting about the wedding is hoping to see me in a full length dress.

I really liked this Ghost dress online and managed to order it with a 10% discount. It’s a small which looked tiny on the hanger, and I still can’t believe it actually fitted. It needs a good steam, but does it suit me and my figure or is too hippy?

I like simple styles and unfussy necklines, definitely no plunging fronts. I’m wearing heels in the photo but would get a very slightly higher pair which would lift the length.

I don’t want to make the wrong decision, so would appreciate honest (but kind) thoughts please.

I really like it!

Beautiful - you look stunning! My close friend had a Ghost dress for her wedding - she is friends with Kathrine Hammett though and got it free! Looked amazing, lovely fabric, simple design.

Oh I love it! And I'd love to have your hips, it looks beautiful 😍 congratulations!

AdaColeman · 16/03/2022 15:25

I disagree about wearing a belt.

The impact of the dress depends on the waterfall style sleeve frills being the only embellishment, and adding a belt would reduce that effect.
You would be very lucky to find the same fabric in a belt, so you would have to go for a contrast, again reducing the impact of the sleeves.

ChazzaGirl · 16/03/2022 15:26

The dress is lovely and you look fantastic in it.

deadlanguage · 16/03/2022 15:29

You have a great figure but I don’t think it is flattering on you, sorry. It would be better if it fishtailed a bit more - it’s quite well balanced between the shoulders and hips but the way it sort of tails off below the knees instead of flaring emphasises the size of your hips.

BOOTS52 · 16/03/2022 15:29

I love the ruggle sleaves as it gives it quite a romantic feel but it is not over powering as the rest of the dress is very classy and simple.

I agree.

No belt. Minimal jewellery. Fantastic jewelled headband for some bling!

2DogsOnMySofa · 16/03/2022 15:33

You have an amazing figure but I do think it bulks you out at the bottom and I'm not sure about the sleeves. All a bit heavy and fussy

Rosebuud · 16/03/2022 15:33

That’s lovely and you look fab. Just get some smoothing undies. Also don’t add a belt. I’ve no idea why but always on these threads soneone looks at a beautiful dress, exactly how the designer imagined it and someone says,,shove a belt on it. 😂

FabulouslyFab · 16/03/2022 15:35

It’s fabulous and imo doesn’t need a belt at all 💐

Okaaaay · 16/03/2022 15:40

You look absolutely stunning. Go for it and feel fabulous x

bombombo · 16/03/2022 15:45

You look great!

mumonthehill · 16/03/2022 15:47

Gosh you will make a beautiful bride!! It is stunning on you.

Rainbowshit · 16/03/2022 15:48

gorgeous

Painiscrap · 16/03/2022 15:48

I think it looks a bit tight around your hips, but wish I had your figure. I’ve been looking at Wedding Dresses with my daughter (she’s got a figure just like you) and didn’t like the clingy material on her, so that may be clouding my judgement. I also think it needs some sparkle around the waist. Congratulations on your Wedding.

Yes! No belt, doesn't need it. Just some smoothing undies and simple jewellery.

Beautiful bride

toomanydogsandcats · 16/03/2022 15:52

I am going to honest. Its your wedding and your dress and I wish you all the best bit ot looks lumpy and I think you will spend the whole day sucking in and even then you won't be happy. Why not go for a boned top half and enjoy your tiny waist and hips

floofycroissant · 16/03/2022 15:55

It's a gorgeous dress and doesn't need any bling or accessories adding to it. You look fantastic, don't change a thing. I

Purpleavocado · 16/03/2022 15:55

I think it looks lovely, but with the caveat of asking does your tummy bloat when you eat? If it does, then you might not be able to eat all day, which isn't fun!

Who cares, she says she’s spare material, a bit of bloat after a meal is irrelevant. I mean goodness. She looks lovely. Not eating all day to avoid a bit of bloat is so unhealthy.
WouldBeGood · 16/03/2022 16:00

I think you look fabulous and it’s perfect

Friedaseyebrow · 16/03/2022 16:02

Gorgeous dress, elegant, understated and shows off your figure to perfection.

sarahb083 · 16/03/2022 16:06

It's beautiful. If you're feeling self-conscious about your hips or tummy (which I don't think you should!) you could use Spanx or similar. Make sure you wear them for a few hours before the day, though, to make sure they're comfortable.

Avocadobacardi · 16/03/2022 16:07

Absolutely stunning, sophisticated and incredibly classy and elegant.
