What do you think of this Ghost Wedding Dress?

I’m getting married in September, we are both mid-fifties and have been married before. It’s a small register office wedding with immediate family, followed by a family meal and then an evening party with family and friends. I have toyed with a mid length wedding dress but not really feeling it and my fiancé after chatting about the wedding is hoping to see me in a full length dress.

I really liked this Ghost dress online and managed to order it with a 10% discount. It’s a small which looked tiny on the hanger, and I still can’t believe it actually fitted. It needs a good steam, but does it suit me and my figure or is too hippy?

I like simple styles and unfussy necklines, definitely no plunging fronts. I’m wearing heels in the photo but would get a very slightly higher pair which would lift the length.

I don’t want to make the wrong decision, so would appreciate honest (but kind) thoughts please.

I also think you look amazing (but did think you meant "free love man" hippy!) so was a bit confused!

Congratulations!

Wow you look great

EinsteinaGogo · 16/03/2022 16:17

It looks lovely.

You have an amazing figure you can certainly rock that dress.

To be honest, with your shape, I think you could go even more va va voom...

Just to develop the idea of a jewelled head piece a little...
If you do decide to go down that route, I'd suggest a kokoshnik style tiara, simple and elegant just like the dress.

You could match the colour of the central stones to the colours in your bouquet, so buy the tiara first.

It is simple and elegant, great choice.
It is a little creased at the legs which will come out when you steam. A little tip I was given was to lightly apply some spray starch to the inside, which will really help stop creases forming, especially later in the day. Your accessories sound lovely too. Have a great day.

I love a Kokoshnik!

If you think a tiara would overwhelm you (some people find them too much) then a headpiece where there’s a jewelled ornament to one side would also be lovely.

You look amazing!

ladycarlotta · 16/03/2022 16:56

you look sensational! I don't think it makes you look hip-y at all, just slim and curvy. It's perfect.

backintothefire · 16/03/2022 18:10

Definitely don't add a belt! I've no idea why people always suggest this on wedding dresses. If it was meant to have a belt, it would have been designed with one!

UsernameInTheTown · 16/03/2022 18:37

Not a fan of the dress but your figure is to die for.

Sparkletastic · 16/03/2022 18:42

I think you need some really good underwear around tummy, hips and waist but I love the top half

Blossomtoes · 16/03/2022 18:59

Beautiful dress. It looks stunning. A feathered headpiece the same colour would look lovely with it.

Tickledtrout · 16/03/2022 19:05

Absolutely beautiful.

Blossomtoes · 16/03/2022 19:05

And, for the love of God, forget a belt. If it needed one the designer would have given it one.

ChickenStripper · 16/03/2022 19:05

You don't look hippy at all in this in a bad way - women are meant to have curves. Personally I am not a fan of all the frills going on on the sleeve but it's not my dress. You will look fabulous.

MondeoFan · 16/03/2022 19:06

Love the dress and lovely figure, lovely on you.
I'm 49 and don't have this figure, but if I did I'd def choose this

mrstea301 · 16/03/2022 19:08

You look absolutely beautiful!

Zengarden001 · 16/03/2022 19:18

Absolutely stunning. Have a wonderful day x

SundayTeatime · 16/03/2022 19:19

I seem to be a lone voice. I don’t think it’s flattering. The to half is ok but the bottom half isn’t. However, it may be better with good underwear to keep it smooth, and higher heels so it flows smoothly and properly around your legs. Is it bias cut?

HeadNorth · 16/03/2022 19:25

You look fabulous. No belt - it will spoil the lovely clean lines. I agree with keeping it simple, it is such a classy and cool dress, it doesn’t need fussy bits added, they will only detract from the look.

Are you insane? The OP’s body looks banging. I fail to see how a woman’s body could look any better, to be honest.
ChurchlightJane · 16/03/2022 19:29

You look ruddy lovely. The dress is stunning anyway but honestly, your figure takes it next level. You are going to wow everyone!

BadHairDayExpert · 16/03/2022 19:30

Think you look gorgeous OP.
Have a beautiful day x

mcplant · 16/03/2022 19:30

Beautiful. Gorgeous dress & it really suits your fab figure!

SundayTeatime · 16/03/2022 19:32

No, not at all insane. I took one look at the photo and thought immediately “no”. It adds too much emphasis to the hips, with a swathe of material across her stomach. With higher heels and better underwear it’ll look better.
