Buying my first designer bag...help please!

Hello lovely people of style and beauty, I'm in the market for a gorgeous designer bag, budget is around £1700 possibly 2k if im absolutely in love.

At the moment I'm loving this bag .. I just love the style , the colour, everything about it really, but wondering if there are any other similar style bags out there that I might love abit more ! I don't want to rush into a purchase as it's a lot of money but at the same time, I do really love this bag! Now my dc are all primary school aged, I can carry a smaller bag which is amazing !

Thoughts please and also any suggestions would be very welcome

I have that exact bag in the monogram print and I absolutely love it. It's so roomy whilst not being too massive. The only thing with choosing that colour is that it's a bit 'summery' in my opinion and for my first designer bag I would probably want something I could use all year round.

Oooh that's good to hear about it being roomy! Yes I do hear you about the colour . I think I would happily wear it all year round though, paired with a nice camel coat, chunky cream scarf .. I think it would work ..?

I’ve just sold the monogram version of that on Vestiare for almost double what I bought it for in 2015(was £800 then & I only managed to get one because we had a good relationship with our local store). If you can get hold of the monogrammed one get that because they resell so well. I think they’re still not easy to acquire.

It’s definitely roomy and served me well. Looked great after all that time BUT I found it to be very heavy. It weighty when empty even. Also it tends to swing around your back and bounce on your bum as you walk. Whenever I see people with it they’re always trying to hold it at the front.

Do you definitely want a cross body?

Fendi peekaboo mini is a lovely option. Very light and lends its self to evening wear too. Over budget but you could get one on a resell site. Lots of brand new ones come up

I nearly bought the red one 2 years ago, it's nice and roomy perfect for everyday. Get it!

My other favourite option for a small cross-body which is still roomy is the Gucci Soho although I think they have discontinued them so you'd have to buy pre-loved. That one is definitely my most used bag for day to day use. I agree that the LV is heavy even when empty. I still love mine though.

That's the LV pochette metis, right? It's a beautiful bag, and where I live that color would be fine year round.

Coach did one several seasons back that is a very close design (except for the price, of course). It has been retired but still available on resale sites. It's the Cassie in taupe (not to be confused with the Cassie 19, which is smaller). There are lots of Youtube videos comparing the two, although most are of different colors. Some people actually prefer the Coach version.

But if you can afford it and you love it, I say go for it.

I must say I love a heavy feel to a bag! I tend to wear cross body bags the most so that would be a style that I would go for. I really don't enjoy using the lighter feel bags especially in a cross body bag. Sounds like this bag is made for me

OP don't be down-sold to Coach if you really want LV....there's so much difference! (Nothing wrong with Coach, obviously a totally different price-point and lower end designer ).

I bought a pre loved Pochette Metis and I love it.
It holds a lot but is still structured. Plenty of pockets too.

It's a massive reward to myself for a huge achievement, I've consistently put everything and everyone before my own personal wants for years and i wouldn't have dreamt of spending that kind of money on a bag a few years ago but now I've got the money and I'm determined to treat myself

I can't help on the actual bag/colours etc, but just wanted to say go for it! I had a very similar situation with a Chanel 2.55 last Spring, I paid £6050 for it which still seemed insane to me even when I had decided on it and budgeted for it, but honestly it has paid for itself already in the amount of joy it's given me. Well done for getting to the point where this bag is within reach. Buy it and enjoy it!

Where are you all buying your pre loved bags from and how do you know they're genuine and not a good fake ? So new to all of this.

There are several good sites.....cant remember right now..!!..also second hand from Japan via ebay is a good source....the Japanese do not do fakes....!!...have got several at bargain prices from there....some of the high end fakes now come from China...even include the receipt and serial codes etc...identical to the real thing but they are sold on gumtree and social media....lots of teenage lads in my local mall with gucci bags...they wont have spent over 1k on those !!

Vestiaire, hardly ever worn it, luxury promise are a few sites that guarantee authenticity. On Vestiaire you will need to ensure you buy from the UK to avoid duties(unless you get a bargain and the duty is worth it). I’d really try to get the canvas if you can. It’s very hard wearing and you can flog it for almost retail when you’re done. It really holds its value.
