We need to talk about Miss Sixty

TAAT, do hope not deleted Wink

I was 21 in 2001 and Miss Sixty was the dream. I could hardly ever afford it but would save up and scour the sales for the most ludicrously low-slung jeans. I also had a fake sheepskin coat of the kind that seems to be making a current comeback. Loved it and lived in it. Also a t-shirt that for some reason said 'apples apples apples' across the boobs. Loved that too.

Who else worshipped at the alter of Miss Sixty in the early Noughties?

I loved their jeans, fit like a glove and I had the figure for it back then. Wouldn't get them past my knees now!
I had a one shouldered pink top from Miss Sixty too with a huge lipstick on the front.
I loved the FCUK tops too!

Onynx · 19/01/2022 00:23

@Lifeisnteasy I had one of those No Angel t-shirts & loved it- worn as a belly top almost. I wore it to a works pub night and put it this way- my friends from that job still remind me of it. I couldn't get my arm into it now😢 I still have so many pairs of size 8/10 jeans and bootlegs but unfortunately I'm now pretty much a size 16 and looking down the barrel at peri menopause. I'd love the 'old' me back if even to wear those clothes again.

BusterGonad · 19/01/2022 05:45

I worked on the Benefit counter! I had the Kitten glitter puff, Flamingo fancy, Kitten glitter gloss, Dr Feelgood, Rebel, Big Beautiful eyes, High Brow....

BusterGonad · 19/01/2022 05:49

How can I forgot the lip plump! It was like a concealer that you'd cover your lips it, pat, then put your lipstick over the top! I never really liked it actually. Too much faff.

MsAnnFrope · 19/01/2022 10:32

I still have a bit of a thing for benefit makeup! No way could I have afforded it as a student (and I was a student a looooooong time)

Gonnagetgoing · 19/01/2022 13:48

@Glowtastic

I remember going on a waiting list a queueing up for a bottle to Chanel rouge noir nail varnish. Cult product at the time.

Oh yes the juicy tubes, had loads loved them!

@Glowtastic - my friend worked in the West End (London) so she just nipped down to Selfridges in her lunch break to get it.

I do recall there was a cult lip pencil (think I've still got it) by Guerlain that I had to wait for and then rushed down to one of the dept stores to buy it.

Fraise, Lychee were two of my Juicy Tubes but I recall they were our 'pick me up' if you felt down at work and wanted a 'pick me up' and also for friend's birthdays these always went down well and were well received! Loved them but my boyfriends at the time used to complain about the stickyness of the kisses Grin.

My best friend (see above) used to go to Toni & Guy Academy to get her hair cut and coloured in the latest Victoria Beckham style. She also looked like Michelle Pfeiffer lucky cow!

MsAnnFrope · 19/01/2022 13:53

Oh so many memories! I loved my juicy tubes even if my hair stuck to them, and I went to the Toni and Guy training place on London for a graduated bob. I was so cool Wink

Gonnagetgoing · 19/01/2022 13:54

@Lookingoutside

I'm curvy, which was absolutely NOT a thing in the early 2000s, so despite being a tiny size 10 with a 26 inch waist I could NEVER, get MissSixty to fit over my massive bum without going up 3 sizes. I remember being really upset about it too.’

@allfurcoatnoknickers

Same. So many tears in the fitting rooms. Proper proper crying. And I had pink and white skin tone with visible hair follicles on my legs. Never felt so ugly.

@Lookingoutside - Ah really? I had I'm sure a 26 waist and was a size 10 but I got Miss Sixty to fit me - my bum got bigger over time but I think I was slimmer then.

My big thing was I was booby (narrow back big boobs) but had to wear bras or at least strapless bras - they used to dig in after a night and the next morning dancing. And there was no Bravissimo and the bra intervention so I'm sure I wore the wrong size too! I was fairly lucky as I was slim everywhere else but I felt slightly self conscious of my boobs as I couldn't wear those tiny strapped tops or if I could I had to be careful!

@allfurcoatnoknickers - sorry about that - I'm sure you looked fine.

yeah - curvy wasn't really a thing at all in 2000s - I had two friends who were definitely size 14-16 - actually they looked great - v necks were good for them, but I recall a friend had an Ann Summers party and not much fitted them, they looked great as M&S had nice going out out tops for clubbing. One of them was very very pretty though and was forever on diets before she admitted to me one day, they just didn't work on her.

we probably bumped into each other if we went out in the same places... Shock

I went to Toni and Guy training place for highlights once but didn't like how long it took for them...

yes, hair sticking to juicy tubes...

Iceberg, Angel perfumes... I thought I was so cool but then again youth being what it is! Grin

First time I met a the sister of a boyfriend of my best friend she was in a baby blue sort of towelling short halter neck dress with a circle where the material gathered and she wasn't into clubbing. A few weeks later we were going round department stores because she was desperate for some sandal toed tights that wouldn't show under her new shoes and would show her pedicure! I had no idea about pedicures and painting toenails before I went out clubbing!

Changemaname1 · 19/01/2022 14:06

Oh I loved my miss sixty jeans I begged my mum for I think they were about 50 quid and this was about 18 years ago ! I wore them everywhere so got my money’s worth untill the bottoms got holes in from trailing on the floor and my Morgan ones too , can’t imagine wearing such low slung jeans now 🥲🥲

MintyGreenDream · 19/01/2022 14:06

I was 21 in 2001 does anyone remember skorts? Tiny skirts that had built in shorts that you stepped into

Changemaname1 · 19/01/2022 14:08

I don’t remember wearing skorts

But trouser skirt things yes, 😂 what was even the point in them ?!

GeidiPrimes · 19/01/2022 14:11

Oh no, are we being prepped for rails full of handkerchief tops and bumster trousers?

VaulterTech · 19/01/2022 14:16

I had a teeney tiny miss sixty denim wrap skirt. Wore it to death so much so I bought another for ‘best’ 🤣 I still have it I’ll dig it out, the length is insanely short but I don’t remember it being that short at the time! Also had some Jane Norman skinny flares with press studs at the bottom, LOVED those!

Lwren · 19/01/2022 14:17

This thread has made me suddenly furious at my asos jeans and sensible hoodie ffs.

ivfbabymomma1 · 19/01/2022 16:07

I adored miss Sixty! It was my favourite brand! There used to be a shop in the Trafford centre! I had a blue denim jacket that I wore to the death

I was desperate for a Miss Sixty version of this actually, it was dark denim and I believe the length was 9 inches, the built in shorts were very much needed!
Nani72008 · 19/01/2022 20:48

I was also 21 in 2001 and adored miss sixty! Pretty much loved in various pairs in 00s, wide leg, flared, skinny with button tops coming up the leg. Loved them so much, I worked for them for six months!! Can’t remember the discount but I did get one - was fab. They were so pricey though for a student. Someone also mentioned the long furry coat - remember selling quite a few of those, plus the long denim jacket. Ah, good times.

TurquoiseDress · 19/01/2022 20:58

I totally loved Miss Sixty!

Had about 3 pairs of their flared jeans/trousers

I remember being about 20 and going into their shop & buying flared black trousers full price as I loved them so much!

Not sure how much they cost (60 quid or something) but I used my student loan to cover it Grin

I wore them to death think the zip broke...in fact I think they are somewhere hiding in the wardrobe

I did buy some of the flared jeans in the sale which made me so happy

Wish I was as skinny now as I was back then in the year 2000!

TurquoiseDress · 19/01/2022 21:00

Ah the FCUK tops!

I had a few of those...think I gave them to charity years ago

Gonnagetgoing · 19/01/2022 21:00

@MintyGreenDream - I think I was 30 in 2001 lol 😂 but I still wore what I could get away with!

I do recall skorts had a couple of pairs.

Gonnagetgoing · 19/01/2022 21:01

Just a FYI, Lancôme have brought out juicy tubes again! That’s my next purchase for nostalgia reasons of course!

DukeofEarlGrey · 19/01/2022 21:03

M&S had nice going out out tops

@Gonnagetgoing you've just reminded me that me and all my mates used to wear 'tops' from the M&S undies section to go clubbing! They did a nice line in velvet corset tops around the turn of the Millennium and we all had the same one in different colours - we used to have to coordinate to make sure we didn't all wear 'the top' on the same night out!!
