We need to talk about Miss Sixty

TAAT, do hope not deleted Wink

I was 21 in 2001 and Miss Sixty was the dream. I could hardly ever afford it but would save up and scour the sales for the most ludicrously low-slung jeans. I also had a fake sheepskin coat of the kind that seems to be making a current comeback. Loved it and lived in it. Also a t-shirt that for some reason said 'apples apples apples' across the boobs. Loved that too.

Who else worshipped at the alter of Miss Sixty in the early Noughties?

@Gonnagetgoing

One of my favourite places to shop and had a Miss Sixty shop was Neal Street.
I remember that shop. I loved it. Kendal's in Manchester had an amazing miss sixty concession.
TolkiensFallow · 16/01/2022 21:20

Hell yeah, when eBay first came out I used to scour for bits as I couldn’t afford new and it’s was sooooo gorgeous

DistrictCommissioner · 16/01/2022 21:20

@Glowtastic

Firetrap and Diesel were the other popular brands, oh and in Manchester g star and bench.
I had a top from Affecks that said ‘wench’ in bench style.
Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:20

@Glowtastic - we rarely went to Manchester but I recall I met a man from just outside Manchester and he invited me up there for the weekend. We went out in Manchester but he was from Widnes (began with W anyway) but all his mates teased me for sounding northern and having loads of money so we didn’t last!

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:22

Oops no they teased me fit sounding London lol Grin

maradesbois · 16/01/2022 21:22

Omg so much! I thought their jeans were to die for and particularly remember a pair of skinny flares that were my absolute faves (before denim had stretch so getting the right size was a minefield and mistakes were £££).

OnaBegonia · 16/01/2022 21:27

Asos sell Miss Sixty

MsAnnFrope · 16/01/2022 21:27

I think I’d get one leg into my jeans from lates 90s early 2000s now!
See also tiny dresses from top shop.
But wonderbra wearing (with a suit jacket obvs) me would be delighted I now have boobs! Even if I had to go from a size 6 to a size 10/12 to do it.

OMG wonderbras...I wore them obsessively during that era. Couldn't do that now, I'd suffocate! So they still exist?
LoveLabradors · 16/01/2022 21:30

@Glowtastic. Ah memories of wandering round Kendal’s back then! I remember when the beauty hall was re done and it looked so futuristic and glam. Always enjoyed a wander along King Street too.

Toottooot · 16/01/2022 21:31

Morgan de Toi - apparently still on the go too.
I had the most amazingly comfortable Miss Sixty stilleto boots with a super pointy toe 🤣

There was a shop called geese on police Street just off king Street that sold red or dead. Was Uber cool...

ILoveHuskies · 16/01/2022 21:31

Me ! I'm same age as you (21 in 2001) oh god how I loved Miss Sixty

@maradesbois - some jeans did have stretch, I’m sure I had a pair of oasis jeans which had glitter on and were stretchy. But agreed in general most jeans had zero stretch. I was so skinny back then lol.

I still wear a Miss Sixty coat I bought for my daughter in TK Maxx when she was about 14 - she is in her 20s now. The coat still looks good as new - so handy as it has a hood.

Fretfulagain · 16/01/2022 21:32

I had a pink/purple miss sixty striped velour top which I was very fond of. I swear Miss Hoolie wore a green version in Balamory Grin

MsAnnFrope · 16/01/2022 21:34

@glowtastic I think wonder bras still exist. God that awful Hello Boys poster campaign and I still wore one. It was 10% tit, 90% padding!

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:35

@Toottooot

@Toottooot - we spent so much money in Morgan de Toi. One time near where I worked in Kensington High Street they had a £10 sale and my colleague bought loads of stuff for her holiday in Ibiza, I got a few bits and my mate asked me to buy here a leopard print sleeveless top. Our Aussie mate who moved here from Sydney was shocked at how much cheaper Morgan was here than there!

We wore Morgan out clubbing,

I bought a lovely navy, white and yellow knit dress from Morgan a year or so ago via La Redoute.

MagicMatilda · 16/01/2022 21:35

Wow blast from the past! I got a coat for my 14th birthday which was about £150 which was like £1000 in my eyes. I was besotted with it.

MsAnnFrope · 16/01/2022 21:36

@Toottooot ah Morgan home of my classy clubbing wear…

GettingStuffed · 16/01/2022 21:37

We bought DD a miss sixty mini skirt in Turkey. It was authentic (you could tell by the quality) but it was a design that never went to market.

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:39

@MsAnnFrope and @Glowtastic - I recall the Hello Boys advert.

I always had larger boobs despite being slim and I had a wonder bra but didn’t need it.

Who recalls spaghetti strap top tops we wore out especially clubbing? Didn’t suit me due to my boobs but my best mate and her then fiancé bought me a sequin one one Christmas and I had to wear it a couple of times! Her and my other best mate were very small chested so these tops looked fine on them!

MeredithGreyishblue · 16/01/2022 21:40

Miss Sixty low slung bootcut jeans with a belt with a huge buckle, Kurt Geiger wooden heeled mules, an FCUK tshirt with some random logo on and a wonderbra underneath.

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:40
@Toottooot ah Morgan home of my classy clubbing wear…
@MsAnnFrope mine too lol Morgan.

We still shopped at Pilot and Jane Norman too though for clubbing wear!

userxx · 16/01/2022 21:42

Absolutely loved miss sixty back in the day. I've still got a denim jacket with cropped sleeves, might dig it out this summer if I'm brave enough!
