We need to talk about Miss Sixty

TAAT, do hope not deleted Wink

I was 21 in 2001 and Miss Sixty was the dream. I could hardly ever afford it but would save up and scour the sales for the most ludicrously low-slung jeans. I also had a fake sheepskin coat of the kind that seems to be making a current comeback. Loved it and lived in it. Also a t-shirt that for some reason said 'apples apples apples' across the boobs. Loved that too.

Who else worshipped at the alter of Miss Sixty in the early Noughties?

I LOVED Miss Sixty.
I had some pink skinny flares that I found in TK Maxx and they were my pride and joy.
And when my mom gave me cash to buy new going out clothes for uni,I spent a LARGE chunk of it on a mini skirt that had a big buckle and was so short it came with built in knickers. My poor mother, waving me off to uni knowing I'd packed that Grin

I'm the same age as you and I honestly don't remember miss sixty really being a thing at that time. I thought you must all be in your early thirties. I did dress in that style though - I had some identical denim boots as someone posted upthread.

Maybe I was too poor to afford miss sixty and bought look-a-likes from mark one and places like that! 😂

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 16/01/2022 21:00

I had a Miss Sixty denim belt/miniskirt too, in the 90’s. I got it from my mate’s mum’s catalog for something like 20p a week for 20 weeks.

TheCanyon · 16/01/2022 21:00

@HeadToToesNo

I've still got my full length denim and faux-fur coat, I begged and begged and begged my parents for it and they finally relented. I lived in it for years but it's still in surprisingly good condition, I just need to work up the nerve to wear it in public again!
I've still got mine too. Sat on a bus last weekend, Windows all open so freezing, I did wonder if I could get away with wearing it nowadays.
DobbyTheHouseElk · 16/01/2022 21:01

I couldn’t fit into miss sixty jeans. Only skinny girls wore them.

I did wear lots of FCUK tops. I looked fabulous….or so I thought

Glowtastic · 16/01/2022 21:01

Firetrap and Diesel were the other popular brands, oh and in Manchester g star and bench.

Sugarcube84 · 16/01/2022 21:01

Love the jeans!! I also had a pair of low cut button up slightly flared cords that were amazing you brought back the memories of being a teenager!

ouch321 · 16/01/2022 21:02

I had a pair of flared belted jeans from there that were ace.
Ebay.ed them some years back which I regret now.

Lollypop701 · 16/01/2022 21:02

Just found these and gave to a friends dd… apparently miss sixty is back in fashion

Yep I wasn't thin enough for low rise jeans unfortunately. It was very hard being a chubby teen in this era!

If anyone has any early noughties clothes, get them on Depop as they sell for a mint nowadays.

coogee · 16/01/2022 21:04

I still have some Miss Sixty mini skirts.

With sewn in knickers.

LittleMissA · 16/01/2022 21:05

I had an amazing miss sixty denim jacket that I bought with my first wages from my first job. It seemed really expensive at the time but I loved it and wore it all the time. I wish I still had it now!!

MsJaneAusten · 16/01/2022 21:05

I’d forgotten about Miss Sixty. I used a credit card for the very first time to buy a leather jacket from there. I got so many comments on it. Such a good jacket. Grin

Yes! I used to wear my Miss Sixty jeans with a pink see-through firetrap top with a sort of tattoo scroll pattern that covered the boob area. Visible bra straps were never really a concern (as far as I can remember). I still have the top and my goodness it’s tiny! I was a size 8-10 and thought I was fat, whereas now those clothes would probably be a size 6 equivalent.

Also loved diesel jeans. Always worn with a pair of pointy stilettos which got trashed in the wonderful but grotty clubs we used to go to. Large hoop earrings a must. Loved an upper arm bracelet too. Ah the good old days!

I wish I still had my Levi’s cord one from a similar era. The ones they make now aren’t cut the same.
LoveLabradors · 16/01/2022 21:09

Ooh yes, low slung skinny flares! A t shirt too and a green jacket.

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 16/01/2022 21:10

Sorry, I meant to quote @LittleMissA for the post above

Starbrand · 16/01/2022 21:12

misssixty.com/collections/new-in
Still going!
I had a pair of black miss sixty flares and thought i was the nuts

Lanique · 16/01/2022 21:13

Loved Miss Sixty. I had some really tight, low slung Miss Sixty jeans which I would pair with a red 'one shoulder' Miss Sixty vest top.

I'd actually forgotten all about the brand, so thanks for the reminder op Grin

OrganTransplant123 · 16/01/2022 21:13

I’m the same age and had a couple of pairs of Miss Sixty jeans. My favourite ones were very low, long (wet hems in the rain) and flared with a sort of curved effect on the bottom. They were very flattering!

I also lusted after Bench stuff. I had a Bench skirt with zips on both sides that went all the way from the hem to the waistband. Happy days!

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:16

I used to wear lots of Miss Sixty jeans which were as you said low slung denim flaresa , denim jacket and denim mini skirt too. I had a nice light blue tiny top and a few others (neon pink I think was one), plus G star, Diesel, firetrap clothes and Morgan De Toi. Also FCUK T-shirts but my fave FCUK T-shirt was light/mid blue with a lion or tiger face on it.

Guessing this was mid 90s to 2000s when I was an 8-10.

Glowtastic · 16/01/2022 21:16

Yeah the curve cut on the jeans actually made my skinny ass look curvy!

Justleaveitblankthen · 16/01/2022 21:16

I still have the Denim micro mini skirt and low slung jeans!
The skirt was last seen in public on wild nights out around 2005..I would have been 36 or soBlush

Gonnagetgoing · 16/01/2022 21:17

One of my favourite places to shop and had a Miss Sixty shop was Neal Street.

GloriaSilver · 16/01/2022 21:18

I loved the jeans. However I was a curvier size 14 then, I am an 8 to 10 now. I never had a pair. I would have loved a pair.
