I have NCed.
I know this isn't a good angle but is the outfit that bad?
Someone told me it was

Is this outfit awful?
OP posts:

For a pub lunch with friends -great for a relaxed walk -great

For work -too casual
To be sexy -too baggy

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 11/10/2021 13:14

I would wear each individual piece you are wearing but I wouldn’t wear them like that. Awful is a bit strong, it’s the outfit of someone hiding in the background and that may be what you were going for in which case it’s fine.

Bluntness100 · 11/10/2021 13:15

I’m not a fan it looks shapeless to be honest and just a bit slobby. Sorry op. Individually the items would look good but all together it’s not very good,

WheelieBinPrincess · 11/10/2021 13:16

Who told you it was awful? Was it a teenage offspring by any chance?

SantanaBinLorry · 11/10/2021 13:17

Everything looks a bit baggy/ill fitted.
The white shoes are wrong.

Saying that, I wouldnt have noticed/judged if you hadn't asked to have a closer look.

WithLargeTableMouse · 11/10/2021 13:17

I like it op. You look relaxed and comfortable and whoever told you it looks awful is fucking rude. I’d rather be comfortable than be rude.

FreeBritnee · 11/10/2021 13:19

Was it weather appropriate? Was it comfortable? Did you feel good in it? If yes then the clothes you are wearing are perfect!!

If you’re saying was it stylish? Well I don’t know. What was the occasion? If it was a lunch out it might have looked a little better with a tailored white shirt and boots with a heel but it honestly depends on what your goals were.

I’m intrigued who told you it was awful? I’d be rethinking that relationship more than rethinking the clothes.

TokyoSushi · 11/10/2021 13:19

It's all a bit 'man in his 50's' - sorry OP!

RomainingCalm · 11/10/2021 13:20

Looking in the mirror today I'm probably not best-placed to comment. Blush

I don't think it's awful but is a bit shapeless - I think it's the blouse that doesn't quite work. I wonder whether it would be better with a plain white t-shirt instead under the v-neck jumper.

Bluntness100 · 11/10/2021 13:20

To be fair it’s not an either or.
ShrikeAttack · 11/10/2021 13:20

Not dreadful, I know MN hates irons but it would look a million times better if you had as everything looks very crumpled.

It doesn't look very considered, but I wouldn't look twice if I saw you having a pub lunch. I'd either loose the shirt or the jumper or the blazer, all three together don't really gel.

MorrisZapp · 11/10/2021 13:20

Certainly isn't awful but the jeans feel wrong with the other colours and silhouette.

AfterSchoolWorry · 11/10/2021 13:20

Shirt or jumper maybe, not both!

workshy44 · 11/10/2021 13:21

Yes sorry
The jeans are too baggy, shirt, jumper fine but the jacket is the worst part I'm afraid
it really does nothing for you and far too much going on

Aquamarine1029 · 11/10/2021 13:22

Yes, it's awful. Sorry. Very ill fitting, and it looks like you're playing dress up with an old man's wardrobe.

BrilloPaddy · 11/10/2021 13:22

It isn't awful, OP, it's just a bit more casual than I'd wear. It's a bit "pub on saturday lunchtime".

TheLongDrop · 11/10/2021 13:23

It's a bit Sue Perkins.

Np with that of course.

Regularsizedrudy · 11/10/2021 13:24

Yeah sorry I hate it. It looks like Richard Hammond

WheelieBinPrincess · 11/10/2021 13:24

I admit I think it’s a really masculine look

Journeyofthedragons · 11/10/2021 13:27

The shirt is throwing the outfit off, makes it look untidy - as someone mentioned a plain white t shirt (tucked in) would be nice, also the jumper looks a little crumpled.

Chrysanthemum5 · 11/10/2021 13:28

I don't think it flatters you, but equally you look relaxed and comfortable so I'd say do what you like (unless you are asking if that's ok to wear to your wedding in which case you'll find it's a tad too casual 😂)

YellowandGreenToBeSeen · 11/10/2021 13:30

It’s all a bit crumpled, knackered and ill-fitting.

Nothing inherently wrong, just very dull.

CommanderBurnham · 11/10/2021 13:30

There's nothing wrong with it.

thisplaceisweird · 11/10/2021 13:31

Looks like a costume for a murder mystery.

Swap the shirt and jumper for a simple t-shirt or high necked jumper and it'll be much nicer

Pippyweather · 11/10/2021 13:31

The shirt under the jumper is wrong.

Lose the jumper and change the shirt to something white and well ironed and it would be a whole heap nicer.
