For me it's 'Leggings must be worn with something that COVERS YOUR BUM'

I'm sorry, even with teenagers with lovely pert derrieres, leggings and top that stops at your waist look like you haven't got dressed properly, and on those of us with less than gravity-defying butts (such as myself) it just looks horribly unflattering, especially if you wear cheapass leggings where the fabric goes all see-through when stretched.

What rules do you stick to, even if out of fashion?

@AngelicaElizaAndPeggy

Never buy leggings that match your skin tone.
This has reminded me of an absolute nightmare Teaching Assistant I had one year. Constantly undermining me, would turn up with articles from junk science websites about autism and how to 'treat' it (we worked in an SEN school), horrendous with the kids despite practically writing out step by step instructions for her and how to talk to them...you get the idea. I'd gone to leadership numerous times about her and been dismissed but the day she turned up in leggings the exact shade of her skin and looked entirely naked from the waist down was the day the Head finally decided to take me seriously. Tbf she really did look naked it was quite something!

@Standrewsschool

As a teen, always wore petticoats under skirts (partly for modesty?).Not sure when I last wore one - 80s?

Hoodies were also for sport also. I seem to recall as a teen, they were considered really unfashionable. They’re not the go-to item of clothing everyone has now,

I don't understand what's so weird about wearing a slip under an unlined skirt or dress. It's nothing to do with modesty. It makes them hang better and not cling. In colder weather adds another layer.

Hoodies are hideous too. Any "sportswear" not actually worn for playing sport looks bizarre.

Cleavage or legs on show, not both.

I have slips two lengths. I wrinkled my nose for a time but they really work
