Kate Bond premiere look

I don’t think know if this is the right place to post this, but why has The Duchess of Cambridge gone to the Bond premiere in fancy dress as Princess Margaret circa 1975?

I love her, but that is a very dated hair choice. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.glamour.com/story/kate-middleton-looked-extra-royal-in-a-stunning-gold-dress-at-the-james-bond-premiere/amp

Oh, thanks diddl - missed that! Yup, £1345 is most definitely out of my price range - never mind!
I could sub you the £5 off thr end if that wuld help?Grin
TonTonMacoute · 29/09/2021 14:22

The whole Bond 'thing' is slightly camp, retro glamour and Kate has taken the opportunity to dress up in something really showy. She has nailed it and looked great.

Skade · 29/09/2021 14:27

Oh I think she looks wonderful! I've always had a soft spot for Kate and I think she has really grown into her style. My favourite look was one of her Remembrance Sunday outfits, she almost out-Queens the Queen in this photo!

@Crazycrazylady

Honestly Op. You must be looking at different pics to me. I thought she looked fabulous, hair makeup and that amazing dress.. totally 🤩
I think the pictures you look at make a real difference with this dress.

I saw a photo and thought wow stunning, what an amazing look. Then another photo later on made the whol look appear a bit old fashioned and a bit mature.

I think it depends upon whether you can see her arms and the cape properly.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 29/09/2021 14:31

This sounds naff but does anyone online/ Instagram do a Middleton look-book? As before… I’m not a royalist! But I do like looking at her outfits, eg I remember the Poland tour and her looking ace. I know not everyone loved the white dress and pearls but I did!

Cashewcookie · 29/09/2021 14:32

I thought she looked glam and youthful. Just me, or are her eyebrows x10 the size in the pics though?

atotalshambles · 29/09/2021 14:39

Why is there a discussion on what a woman wears to a premiere -in 2021. I think she looks great (but really does it matter?). I thought Meghan looked great as well last week (the amount of criticism she had for wearing coats). I wouldn't want to be in the public eye for anything. Everything you do is criticised - too fat, too thin, too old, too much botox etc..

TeeBee · 29/09/2021 14:40

I thought she looked fabulous. We don't need to start knocking other women down, do we? Smacks of mean girls in the playground OP.

Osrie · 29/09/2021 14:41

I agree it depends which photos you look at. Very staged as usual. I always have this image of them going into the royal fancy dress room to bagsy their costume ,for fitting, for whichever particular show they are being wheeled out for. I think she and Camilla could easily have done a swap on this occasion. Must be so nice just having to wear another suit. Well done to ‘007’ choice

ducksalive · 29/09/2021 14:42

She looked fantastic and I love a vintage nod.
Also a good match for a bond premiere.

Why wouldn't there be? The whole point of the red carpet is that it's a bit of a spectacle. Especially when you wear a show-stopping gold sparkly number like that. My favourite part of the Oscars is always the frocks. I don't think that demeans any of the actors.
Thatsplentyjack · 29/09/2021 14:43

What are you on about OP. Honestly get a life! She looks great.
Was her husband, you know, the future king there? How was his hair looking? Do you have a picture of that for us to critique or is it just the women?

He looked dreary and he needs to get himself to Argos for some clippers.

@JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon. Yes, it’s these side on ones that are most Margarety to me.

I think the big difference in those pics is that she looks genuinely happy. The dress is beautiful and I love the cape. I generally think her clothes are very boring and safe, but I do like this one. Although my pick would be Lashana Lynch's yellow dress if I had to choose one to wear to a Bond premiere (I wish!).

garlicandsapphires · 29/09/2021 14:53

I’m surprised by the unanimous verdict. I thought the dress wore her rather than the other way around. She looked full of filler Blush I don’t know her, don’t know what she’s like in person but she always seems so devoid of charisma, is a bit boring really - so a dress like that doesn’t suit her. Btw I think being ‘a bit boring’ is her USP. There’s something staid, consistent and stable about her (public appearance at least, who knows what she’s like in person)

Pallisers · 29/09/2021 15:04

off point but I also absolutely loved Emma Raducanu's dress/look

I was just coming to say Emma Radacanu looked absolutely beautiful - absolutely loved her dress.

Thought Kate was stunning. It was a real ‘wow’ dress.

Cas112 · 29/09/2021 15:13

She looked lovely, stop being bitchy

You're boring now
Mercurial123 · 29/09/2021 15:23

OP I think at this point give up, your opinion is in the minority.

JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 29/09/2021 15:29

Hey! I made one post saying the photos make a difference to how the whole look appears. No personal comments about Catherine herself.

Anyway I'm not convinced that referring to Princess Margaret is necessarily derogatory. She was a very glamorous woman who wore some incredible dresses.

HaveringWavering · 29/09/2021 15:33

Er, it’s not AIBU! There is no vote. Kind of scary that you think minority opinions (though this is more of an observation) need to be silenced…

Honestly op, give it up, no one likes women being bitchy about other women’s appearances like this ans it says more about you than you’d care to reveal.
