Kate Bond premiere look

I don’t think know if this is the right place to post this, but why has The Duchess of Cambridge gone to the Bond premiere in fancy dress as Princess Margaret circa 1975?

I love her, but that is a very dated hair choice. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.glamour.com/story/kate-middleton-looked-extra-royal-in-a-stunning-gold-dress-at-the-james-bond-premiere/amp

She looked amazing, personally would have left hair down, maybe pinned back slightly

pilates · 29/09/2021 17:11

I thought she looked jaw-droppingly beautiful and the hair style complimented the dress. Each to their own but still a bitchy thread.

Housewife2010 · 29/09/2021 17:42

I thought she looked fabulous. Her retro hair was an homage to 70s Bond girl style.

I think her stylist was going for a Bond homage look - her hair reminded me of Jane Seymour in whichever Bond film she was in.

It was over the top glam and she looked like she was having a ball. Was having coffee with mates this morning and everyone agreed she looked fab and how nice it was to see some over the top glam finally.

stillavid · 29/09/2021 19:56

I also loved Mr Craig's pink jacket but where was his wife?

stillavid · 29/09/2021 19:56

I ask as normally love her fashion looks as well.

Backstreetsbackalrightdadada · 29/09/2021 19:58

You know I think everyone looked great at that premiere… so nice to see after the blah that was the Met Gala! (Where yes everyone looked great but didn’t stick to the theme)

This was lovely, high glam but looked fun!

I think she looked absolutely amazing but I do agree with OP on the hair. It wasn't a bad style in its own right but I just felt it didn't go well with the rest of the look

Maireas · 30/09/2021 07:42

Well, I'm going to disagree with you, OP. It was neither fancy dress nor 70s.
I thought she looked gorgeous, definitely on point!

Naaaaah · 30/09/2021 08:01

I got Margot Ledbetter vibes but I loved ML, so that's a compliment not an insult. She looked a right bobby dazzler and I bet she felt a million dollars too.

SirSamuelVimes · 30/09/2021 08:38

Finally found a pic of the back of the hair!

Yes it's a bit over the top and for any other occasion it would probably not work... But it's Bond!! I still like it. I hope it was a nod to the glam bond girl styles in the past.

What I would give for a big fancy occasion I could get all dressed up for! (And to be 4 stone lighter so I'd stand a chance of looking good). I'd go all out too!

Washeduponthebeach · 30/09/2021 09:12

i thought the whole look was drop dead gorgeous. I loved the hair personally. Thought the dress was fantastic. What I like about Kate is she rarely overdoes the makeup. She keeps it natural and fresh. Loved DC's jacket too!

BobaFettOnMyBedsideTable · 30/09/2021 09:25

I thought she looked absolutely stunning. The dress oozed old school Bond glamour. She was radiant, I'd love to know what make up products were used.

ADreadedSunnyDay · 30/09/2021 11:34

Going against a lot of comments, I think the dress and hairstyle were incredibly ageing. I think a lot of her choices are rather dull tbh. You don't really get any sense of personality coming through ....

MalagaNights · 30/09/2021 13:45

I loved the look.
So vintagey glamorous.
So yes 'old fashioned' but delibrately so and bringing back 'old fashioned' full on glam up and have fun.

I do love her style generally though. Even when she is more conservative, I love the tailoring of her coats and dresses.

I also loved the magenta suit which is a bit more edgy. I think she is definitely having more fun with fashion than she used to, where she used to concentrate on looking 'nice' (whihc she always did) now she is trying out looks. A sign of confidence I think.

I also love the fact she seems to laugh so easily. She is obvioulsy quite lighthearted and looking for the fun or humour in every interaction.

I think she was made for that job.

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 30/09/2021 13:58

I noticed that the dress was described as bespoke, although influenced by other designs by the same designer. And there was certainly something about the sleek lines of the dress around the torso that particularly suited the DoC's streamlined figure.

stillavid · 30/09/2021 16:08

Just reading the dress is part of a special 007 Jenny Packham collection inspired by Bond ladies.

stillavid · 30/09/2021 16:10

Her hair definitely reminded me of Jane Seymour as Solitaire which makes sense if the dress was a homage to Bond girls.

More this than Princess Margaret.

Girl was out out

She has missed it!

Is that good or bad? 🤔
DukeofEarlGrey · 30/09/2021 20:58

I thought she looked incredible, better even than her wedding day because the look was a lot more fun! She also seemed to be really enjoying herself.

choixx · 30/09/2021 21:01

Oh I thought the hair was bad too

choixx · 30/09/2021 21:04

I liked the back but didn't think the front suited her at all.
I know she has to be safe but I generally find her style really old fashioned & ageing.
