What’s the ‘new’ white trainer

I’m inexplicably behind on trends! So recently embarked on a trainer finding journey to discover that if I buy white trainers then I am no longer on trend!! So what’s the new white trainer equivalent?

To wear with skinny (yes I know but I can’t do barrel or mom jeans) jeans!

Links don’t work.

I bought some white trainers from Marks today, half price at £14 and I don't care whether in or out of fashion. I own Vejas, Stan Smiths, NB, Puma and a ridiculously expensive pair by Isabel Marant. All
different colours and some are white.

Frazzledstar1 · 27/09/2021 00:47

Air Force ones seem to be the popular choice in my area and I see plenty of people wearing white (I didn’t realise it was supposed to be “out”). I’ve got some and they are incredibly comfortable, I have wide feet too.

AngeloMysterioso · 27/09/2021 10:35

Another one sticking with Adidas Superstars, or I also have a lovely pair of scallop-edge white leather Converse. I just don’t see the fuss with Veja and I have really small feet so AF1s are a bit too chunky.

ItsSunnyOutside · 27/09/2021 11:18

I have quite a few pairs of white trainers. My faves are my Vans Old skool ones , Superga low tops, Adidas Nizza platforms and Converse but the 1970s Converse high tops, not the normal ones.

I also have quite wide feet and all of these styles are comfy.

I wear something whether its popular or not, if I like it.
The veja trainers, I am not a fan of, I don't like the design.

aModernClassic · 27/09/2021 12:59

@Wtf86

If Veja are flat footed I can’t go there cos I’ve had plantar fasciitis in the past I do need a trainer with some support. Hence my current boring Brooks trainers and vionic sandals - as a lady on the large side not sure the chunkinees of a chunky Chelsea boot would look right. I need a style overhaul!
You need Air and Grace then. They're the only trainers this style I can wear be with PF. My chiropractor says they're okay for my feet too.
Anon778833 · 27/09/2021 13:33

LOL I thought ‘what is Stan Smith’ googled it to see that it’s the trainers I have myself. Which are now worn out due to dd2 stealing them 🙄

BlairWaldorfLovesShopping · 27/09/2021 14:06

@MummyJ12 I presume PP meant that Veja's running-style trainers are comfier than the vegan leather ones. Which you would expect!

MummyJ12 · 27/09/2021 14:11

I’ve tried them too. Again, not comfy. They just don’t suit some people but it’s great that some people can get on with them.

MummyJ12 · 27/09/2021 14:15

The running ones are a bit more comfortable though, you’re right there Smile but even the running ones rub my feet, aren’t very supportive and they have laces which I don’t get on with at all! Saucony are best and comfiest for running imo. But that’s just me and my high maintenance feet!! 😂

shallIswim · 27/09/2021 17:35

Urgh I have some Vejas.
I was warned they'd be uncomfortable but unwisely ignored the advice! Literally the most uncomfy shoes I own! So reading this thread with interest!

CalmDownBoris72 · 27/09/2021 19:01

Everyone wears Veja here.

Now don’t laugh but I predict Hoka One One trainers will become trendy despite them being for running. They’re just popping up in fashion places all of a sudden.

With that being said, I am now eyeing up a pair of Adidas Grand Courts.

I live my Hoka's! Wear them for tennis in fact but have snuck them out with a skirt on occasion or two. And I'm 56!

@VitalsStable Google the Uk stockists. A few come up including Made the Edit who have some still in the sale.

Have been reading carefully and now just bought a pair of Nike Court Royal 2s because of this thread!

About 2 years ago i decided i must be the only person in the world who didn't own a pair of trainers and wanted some white ones. I wanted something a bit dainty. I have small bony feet and am not used to the look of me in trainers.

Because they were recommended on S&B i bought a pair of Superga (canvas). They looked nice, but were heavy Shock So heavy! AND they rubbed the tops of my toes for ages. I was endlessly fiddling with the laces because if they were ok across my foot then they slipped off my heels. If i tightened them up enough to stay on they hurt! I was disappointed and tried to soldier on with them, but I found excuses not to wear them and now they've been languishing untouched at the bottom of the shoe cupboard for ages Hmm

Then this time last year i was walking through M&S and saw a pair of generic white trainers. 25 quid. I tried them on. They were light and comfy. Bought them. DD was Hmm However - they started to look a bit 'collapsed' really quickly. I've left them alone all summer, just started to wear them again, but they look like what they are - cheap and cheerful ...

And now this thread ... So, next stop Nikes. I'll update when they arrive tomorrow :)

ArabeI · 28/09/2021 12:52

As far as white trainers go I have a pair of the, seemingly ubiquitous, Veja trainers (Esplars). I only wear trainers for gym, though. And for running (only occasion Parkrun) I have a pair of New Balance trainers.

Though this weekend I ordered a pair of white Victoria trainers to try, as they're similarly-styled but supposed to be comfortable than the Veja trainers, though they were only slightly cheaper at approx £70.00.

I'd be tempted to try Air and Grace next but don't think they're the 'new white trainer' either.

VitalsStable · 28/09/2021 16:04

Thank you OhCoblers

I bought the white btw.

shallIswim · 29/09/2021 17:49

Blimmin MN. New Air and Graces just arrived and v v comfy. I live in a part of the country where comfort wins over style so if they're slightly off stylewise I don't care!

Onlinedilema · 29/09/2021 18:42

Surely trainers should be comfortable I can't see the point in buying them if they aren't comfortable, surely that's what high heels are for 😁😁😁😁😁😁and I have lots and lots of shoes.
Dd was wearing Stan Smith's 6 years ago. She's got everything from Adidas to Nike through to vans .Complete white, complete black, black with white sole, coloured. Trainers with her name stitched into the side you name it.
At least it's nice to be able to wear comfortable shoes.

Laiste · 29/09/2021 20:47

Onlinedilema - Surely trainers should be comfortable I can't see the point in buying them if they aren't

But it seems some suit certain foot size/shapes better than others. One person's comfy is another's total fail. My first pair of Superga's were a big disappointment. I thought all trainers were comfortable on and found out there and then that that's not true.

This thread has been really handy and has saved me a lot of time and trouble (and petrol).
