I’m in love with a too expensive jumper

And I can’t get it out of my head.

If I owned it my life would be better and winter would be full of wonderful crisp walks.

Sigh

It's lovely. Have you Googled for any voucher codes?!

PersonaNonGarter · 01/09/2021 18:46

Oh chunky expensive jumpers DO make life better OP, you are so right.

I feel like you have some time to save up for this one cos it’s still not quite that-chunky-jumper-weather. Also Celtic & Co sometimes do codes.

hugoagogo · 01/09/2021 18:48

Yowsers! That is pricey.

thistimelastweek · 01/09/2021 18:50

It is indeed nice.

You could live in it and never ever need heating again thus recouping the immense outlay on cost.

SnoopyMcLoopy · 01/09/2021 18:51

OMG it's lovely! I have a similar one that I managed to get for £40 down from £120 about 8 years ago. It's perfect for standing at the sidelines of a football pitch in winter. Otherwise I find it way too hot. But it's my treasured jumper 😊

purplecorkheart · 01/09/2021 18:52

It looks like a straight forward enough style. I would see if I could get a pattern online and ask around for a good knitter (nearest wool shop may now of someone or knitting group in library ) maybe able to help.

Badgercity · 01/09/2021 18:52

Unfortunately it would need to be at least half the price for me to justify it Sad

I mean technically I have the money, but I’m also in the process of buying a house. Maybe if there’s anything left over in the savings when we’ve moved in…..

Until then I am scouting the lower end high street for a dupe.

I can see me now sipping coffee from a thermos on a gate in the countryside, laughing at my well behaved children’s antics…if only I had this jumper…

I love it but am jealous of people with a neck long and slender enough to carry it off. It would reach my nose I reckon.

Fairnair · 01/09/2021 18:53

The jumper is gorgeous, lovely style, and colour. However, beside the price, I personally would not buy it, as it’s 100% lambs wool, which I find very itchy. Looking at the care instructions it seems a bit faffy, using their special wash etc.

LaurieFairyCake · 01/09/2021 18:54

Oh very gorgeous 🥰

Such lovely quality their jumpers - would probably last you decades

AlbertBridge · 01/09/2021 18:55

I bought a black version of that from
New Look a year or two ago, thinking I'd look like Jennifer Aniston in The Morning Show. (I didn't.)

It's an unflattering shape. The neckline makes me feel a bit 🤢(while wearing it).

AlbertBridge · 01/09/2021 18:57

And I'd be terrified that would get mixed up with other laundry and get shrunk at 40 degrees.

Gemma2019 · 01/09/2021 18:57

It's very nice. Code LAW21CV gets you 15% off and free delivery, but it's still quite a lot at £157

Badgercity · 01/09/2021 18:57

I hadn’t even thought about the impracticalities of its care, or itching. That helps my jumper pining, thanks!

I am definitely needing a high neck chunky jumper this autumn. The shops haven’t caught up with my autumnal shopping needs yet. I also want some knee high boots which are allusive in actual physical shops.

GemmaRuby · 01/09/2021 19:06

You don’t need a high neck jumper, you need a round neck jumper and a lovely cashmere scarf so you can take it off when you stop off at rustic pubs with open fires on your crisp country walks.

NannyAndJohn · 01/09/2021 19:07

It's actually a pretty reasonable price for what it is, I have something not too dissimilar and it cost more than that.

It depends whether or not you think it's worth the investment. For me a more expensive garment that I'd get a good few years of wear out of is far better value than some cheaply made high street tat that I'd only wear a couple of times before shunting to the back of the wardrobe.

NannyAndJohn · 01/09/2021 19:08

If you wait until just after Christmas, there are always really good bargains in the Net A Porter sale.

StarfishDish · 01/09/2021 19:11

I second the suggestion of asking at your local wool shop. They'll probably be able to make you one at a cost Smile

Badgercity · 01/09/2021 19:11

Oh I think it’s worth it, I just don’t have the cash!

Celtic and co are absolutely rotten for signing you up to all sorts of bloody spam catalogues and emails though. I've had words with them after buying one pair of boots and getting inundated by expensive clothes companies' crap!
If that makes you feel better, OP Grin

Sunshinedrops85 · 01/09/2021 19:13

I'd rather have one quality jumper over several cheaper ones. If you can afford it do it.

It will itch and give you a double chin (hope this helps)

very nice jumper

SameToo · 01/09/2021 19:15

Have you looked at Finisterre?

ZenNudist · 01/09/2021 19:15

I always buy good quality jumpers. Washed well they last forever. But I'm not a fan of that one. I reckon it wouldn't flatter at all and would look like you got it from the Debenhams closing down sale.

M&s do some quite reasonable cashmere ones that last well and much softer than lambswool. It might not have the marl effect but that's whats making the jumper frumpy IMO
