And I can’t get it out of my head.

If I owned it my life would be better and winter would be full of wonderful crisp walks.

Sigh

@ShaunaTheSheep

Get yourself a cashmere roll neck from M&S men's department. That's my favourite jumper.
This fascinates me.....it doesn't look too mannish? Some of us have pretty wide shoulders to begin with....

But I like the thought of a more forgiving midriff than the ladies styles.

ThePlumVan · 01/09/2021 20:33

I have their jumpers (not this one, yet).
My life did indeed improve.
Life is now good.

Durbeyfield · 01/09/2021 20:37

I’d pay for that for it. It’s gorgeous. I would worry about the high neck being a bit too warm and restrictive though.

InpatientGardener · 01/09/2021 20:37

@bobbinthreadbare123 hope I don't start getting them again, we're moving soon and I don't want the new owners to think I'm a rampant shopaholic Blush

CurlyhairedAssassin · 01/09/2021 20:40

My immediate thought was that you ask a good knitter to knit you one.

Then I remembered what would have happened if teenaged me had asked my nan. First she'd ring me and say "Barb couldn't find quite that colour wool so she got the next closest thing, is that ok?" Me: "Er, that's great, Nan!"

Result attached. She meant well and I appreciated the effort but I never asked her to make me a jumper I'd seen in a magazine ever again, bless her. Grin

It’s beautiful but you couldn’t just chuck it in the washing machine. It would be handwash and drip dry I am guessing. It’s lovely though

How about this one?

HeronLanyon · 01/09/2021 20:42

Second suggestion to look at mens jumpers - and all sorts of other stuff where it really doesn’t matter. There’s a definite premium on womens’ clothes when the exact equivalent (where shape or fit aren’t or don’t need to be different) is far cheaper in menswear. Colours are also getting better.

Foreverinthenineties · 01/09/2021 20:42

I very much understand your love ❤️ for it as I’m same when it comes to clothes but personally I don’t find it special for £185.
It does not scream that price.
It could well be any jumper from Next for £40 or H&M one for £20.

PegasusReturns · 01/09/2021 20:45

The seams are dreadful and will be so unflattering.

Durbeyfield · 01/09/2021 20:45

curlyhairedassassin I had a similar experience when I was desperate for a Sarah Lund sweater. At £285 approx I couldn’t justify it so dropped heavy hints to my mother come Christmas time. Mother said “What??!! Don’t be ridiculous! I’ll knit you one.”
So she did. And it turned out to be more ‘The Proclaimers’ circa 1989 than Sarah Lund and sadly I never wore it outside the house.

cookingisoverrated · 01/09/2021 20:46

It's such a lovely sweater and colour, and I said 'ooooh, my favourite, sea green' before I even saw it was indeed sea green.

I feel your temptation!

Itsabeautifuldaytosavelives123 · 01/09/2021 20:47

If you have the money - buy it!

Bluntness100 · 01/09/2021 20:52

That’s a beautiful jumper I agree, and I’m sorry the others don’t compare, but bloody hell the price.

I looked at it and thought oh that’s lovely I might get that, saw the price snd my eyebrows shot up. Defintely not.

Coniferhedge · 01/09/2021 20:54

I’ll see your expensive lovely jumper and raise you mine. Definitely too expensive for me! Shock

Keladrythesaviour · 01/09/2021 20:58

Op I bet it's really scratchy not really, it's gorgeous and you'd get all hot and bothered in it and end up with hives...

Does that help? Wink

liveforsummer · 01/09/2021 21:02

M&S had one very similar last year. Try there

AnotherVice · 01/09/2021 21:03

I was going to suggest Uniqlo, they have similar styles for under £30 and with a tenner off your first order.

MazyontheDipper · 01/09/2021 21:07

No. just no. I can see why you may be attracted to it, but lambswool is truly awful....tricky to wash, and itchy beyond belief. Cashmere is better and you could get some good cashmere for half that price at M&S.

I find wool very itchy on my hyper sensitive skin, but merino is the exception. Much cheaper and easier to wash.

Sorry but this looks as if it's escaped from the bag for the jumble sale in 1974, having been worn for months on end by a long, skinny teenage boy with acne and a mullet.

Wishingwell75 · 01/09/2021 21:09

Tis truly a beautiful jumper.
If it's the style you are drawn to then you won't have any problems finding a dupe at a price for now, until you get your house. Also good news is that if this jumper is popular and sells quickly they'll be sure to reissue it next year and you could easily have saved up - £3.50 a week would get you that, this time next year. On the other hand, if it doesn't sell very well it'll be in the sale before you know it. What's that website, Shopify or shoppul? It's probably a feature on several sites really - but you can tag it (shoptagur that was it, might now be called Karma) and then the moment that jumper goes into the sale it'll let you know. So, it's a win win, win situation!😁
Really have to start taking my own advice, I think. I'm really impressed with your restraint OP, I am sure you'll get your jumper and it's a really great one!

OddsNSodsBitsNBobs · 01/09/2021 21:17

Agree its absolutely beautiful, and I'm not a fan of green! But wowzers at the price tag.... if you look after it , wash it properly and dont go near bleach just maybe it'll last years and years!

That is bloody gorgeous.

HeronLanyon · 01/09/2021 21:21

Trouble is you also wouldn’t want to go near the beach in that - one stray brush against granite or dried seaweed spears or heaven forbid you want to lean against something or lie on the rocks or sand. Or indeed strip off for a swim. As so often the marketing belies the realities ??? Not sure it quite fits the image it’s portraying.

MissLucyEyelesbarrow · 01/09/2021 21:23

You think you've got problems? I'm in love with this. But I am not paying nearly a grand for a jumper. Even if I could afford it, the moths already feast on my newish jumper from Whistles and ignore the 20 year old hand-me-down from DM. Imagine what the little flappy bastards would do with a grand's worth of cashmere.
