I’m in love with a too expensive jumper

And I can’t get it out of my head.

If I owned it my life would be better and winter would be full of wonderful crisp walks.

Sigh

Oh gosh MissLucyEyelesbarrow I love it. I want one in turmeric! And the life to go with it.

NantesElephant · 01/09/2021 21:50

It’s lovely. I had a similar one and it was great in extremely cold conditions, but the moths got to it eventually and it became holed beyond repair. If you buy one, pack it away well in an airtight bag once the spring comes.

Fhdfjiggvfhg · 01/09/2021 21:50

Lovely jumper, I have bought 2 cable knit jumpers before and knackered both in the wash. My advice is to stay away from them I was gutted when mine shrunk!!!

GrasssInPocket · 01/09/2021 21:54

Channel your inner Tom Daley and knit your own! Grin

TheBullfinch · 01/09/2021 21:54

Oh, that's gorgeous but I'd look like a linebacker in it with my shoulders. Grin

I need the finest, thinnest cashmere, otherwise I look like a box on legs.

bigbaggyeyes · 01/09/2021 21:59

I find when I get obsessed over something like this, I buy it and try it on, 99% of the time I don't like it on so send it back, at that price it would have to be fantastic to make me keep it.

I have the coatigan in blue from Celtic and co. It's a thing of beauty i dont deny it. But hand washing the fucking thing and then waiting a week for it to dry (dry flat too, so means moving it around out of the way) is beyond my patience level. Hence I wear it as little as possible.
Other than that, sign up for emails, look for sales and codes.
gofg · 01/09/2021 22:02

Wow - that's expensive!!! I wouldn't pay that for a lambswool jumper either, it's a ridiculous amount. Do they ever have sales? I'm not in the UK but yesterday I bought a merino jersey for $80, reduced from $269. I would chose merino over lambswool any day.

ChateauMargaux · 01/09/2021 22:07

It is jumper buying season.... I've got my eye on this twothirds.com/products/ronsier-beige but can't decide if 1970's orange and brown is my colour.. I usually wear blues and greens.

Yeah, I definitely can't afford the life to go with it 😀
HostessTrolley · 01/09/2021 22:12

If I wanted to knit something like that but be able to chuck it in the washing machine, what kind of wool would I need to buy? 🤔

Salacia · 01/09/2021 22:12

Ever so slightly cheaper but I have a couple of these… www.bertiesofbay.co.uk/product-page/storr-whitby-gansey-navy
Surprisingly flattering on a large bust, not too itchy and worth their weight in gold with all the outdoor socialising I’ve done during the pandemic!

Bluntness100 · 01/09/2021 22:29

This is somewhat similar op and a lot cheaper.

JackieWeaversZoomAc · 01/09/2021 22:37

Lambs wool? No thanks - it bobbles like mad. I think it's too soft. Now one in a tougher Aran or merino would be lovely

whattodo2019 · 01/09/2021 22:43

@Badgercity

Unfortunately it would need to be at least half the price for me to justify it Sad

I mean technically I have the money, but I’m also in the process of buying a house. Maybe if there’s anything left over in the savings when we’ve moved in…..

Until then I am scouting the lower end high street for a dupe.

I can see me now sipping coffee from a thermos on a gate in the countryside, laughing at my well behaved children’s antics…if only I had this jumper…

Just buy it! You only live once ... Enjoy it too it's gorgeous ❤️
Peanutsandchilli · 01/09/2021 22:46

It's just a jumper and it would irritate me to hell and back. There are plenty of cheaper ones available.

aramox · 01/09/2021 22:55

People advising OP to get someone to knit it- have you looked at wool prices recently?

gofg · 02/09/2021 00:00

I love that jumper @ChateauMargaux. I wear mostly blues but recently have been moving into those colours, and I'm loving them. Mind you, I was a teenager in the 1970s, so that's my era Smile

Cor, lots of nice things on here! Seriously good looking website too!

So much nice stuff on this website.. has anyone ordered before? The Brexit statement says extra charges will be applied to UK orders Sad
ChateauMargaux · 02/09/2021 07:09

@InpatientGardener I have a beautiful jumper from their but the ordering process is crazy. You preorder and then they start making it so that jumper will be shipped in November.

I ordered something else and the size was completely different, I returned it twice and by the time I had done that it was a different season!! Plus the dress was awful so it has made me quite wary.... though there are 3 jumpers I've got my eye on.

Athrawes · 02/09/2021 07:14

Decent wool (100%, not scratch, responsibly produced) will cost about 90 pounds. Knitting it would take weeks (bahaha to the person who thought the local yarn shop would knit it at cost!). It's pretty good value if you get the discount.

A lot of wool shops would knit it at a cost Smile
