Can’t see a thread so I thought I’d start one. Yes, it’s unbelievably early, but I noticed Glossybox have already revealed their Advent Calendar contents for this year. Saw this reveal on YouTube this morning:

Have to say it doesn’t wow me, but there’s plenty of time and many more Advent Calendars to come, I’m sure! Grin

Anyone tried the boots no 7 one and if so is it any good?

QueefofSheena · 10/09/2021 22:35

No7 has a good range of products, a good mix of skincare and make up and you always get something like tweezers. I’ve had a couple but don’t anymore as they do get samey

gratedbeetroot · 10/09/2021 23:06

I’ve been excited for Space NK to launch but I’m rethinking after looking at the contents again. The sizes of most of the products are tiny. I’ve also been looking at reviews and the moisturiser that I thought would be good for my skin doesn’t sound as moisturising as I’d hoped. The lipstick looks too dark for me. This along with the few products that I wouldn’t use full stop (candle, powder, glitter eyeshadow) means I don’t think it will work for me after all.

MidnightMeltdown · 10/09/2021 23:41

I was thinking about getting Next, but looking at it again, I don't think I will. There aren't many full sizes, and I'm not sure whether I want the ones there are. Don't like the lipgloss, lipstick maybe too dark, Philip Kingsley I already have, and I'm not a big fan of sheet masks.

RubyFakeLips · 10/09/2021 23:57

From zooming in rather intensely on the only pic of the Selfridges one I can see:

Le Labo
Diptyque
Barbara Sturm
Charlotte Tilbury Mascara
Aveda

and something that looks like it says Glitter Gloss Confused

Whether this is accurate or an old pic, I don't know.

After much angst refreshing and clicking on links from 9am this morning and emailing Glossy Box customer services, I finally managed to pre-order a Glossy Box for DD3. She loved last years and so I think she will love more of the same.

Hope to get a CB for DD1 who is very high maintenance when it comes to beauty products. Still waiting for it to be released Have bought her Net a Porter and Liberty in previous years but after looking at all the options I think CB is the way to go this year.

DD2. After much rudeness and being generally venomous to me in recent weeks I have decided she won't be getting one this year. I paid an arm and a leg to buy her CB from ebay last year and she recently informed me it was crap.

This leaves me. I have never ever bought myself a calendar. I don't wear make up and never ever use lotions or potions. But for the first time ever at the grand old age of 55 I've decided to treat me. Thinking of one with candles and lovely smells. I don't know yet. Maybe Neom or the White Company.

LarsErickssong · 11/09/2021 04:56

@notangelinajolie I think if you aren't buying DD2 one then it would be rude not to spend that money on yourself! Also you absolutely deserve a treat for putting up with her Wink

What is Douglas? I've never heard of it

It’s a German store that sells perfume, cosmetics and toiletries. The AC doesn’t look great - lots of scents which isn’t my thing, a jade roller, mouths wash and lube 😃

Agreed. I do have another suggestion notangelinajolie - you could buy DD2 the House of Fraser one. For anyone who doesn’t get it, do a search! Funniest thread of all time.

Piccalino3 · 11/09/2021 08:32

I still want to know what Harrods and Selfridges are doing this year and I'm waiting... I do think the Net A Porter one looks the best for me, it's a shame the packaging is so bland. To be fair I had it a few years ago and didn't mind. I'm not feeling mega excited about them this year so perhaps I skip it, but I know I'd have FOMO and regret it. It is so nice to have a little present to open every day in December.

gratedbeetroot · 11/09/2021 09:57

Definitely treat yourself, notangelinajolie.

And I love that suggestion, chloechloe - that thread was brilliant!

I’m back to square one again. I want something with hydrating skincare, just the odd bit of non glittery make-up, with a lipstick that isn’t too dark (I wish they did two versions you could choose between).

I was very tempted by the large bomb cosmetics calendar last year but then forgot about it so I might look at that as I do love a bath.

BunnytheFriendlyDragon · 11/09/2021 10:22

What's the house of Fraser thread?

WrinklesShminkles · 11/09/2021 10:27

Hi gratedbeetroot how about getting DD2 this one:

www.johnlewis.com/advent-of-change-premium-charity-advent-calendar/p5136239

BakeOffRewatch · 11/09/2021 10:27

It’s in MN Classics from 2017, I looked it up and did really enjoy it, thank you @chloechloe!

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/mumsnet_classics/3102388-Sharing-the-Shitness-HOF-Advent-Calendar-SPOILERS

What a great idea for frenemy though, 25 days of disappointment.

It made me cry with laughter on several occasions. Especially the use of a cat’s paw to demonstrate the size of the items 😂 I may have to go back and read it again.
LookdeepintotheParka · 11/09/2021 11:01

I was literally just thinking about that thread this morning @chloechloe 😂

PomRuns · 11/09/2021 11:14

Aromatherapy associates details now available - it’s looks very nice. £95

I think that was aimed at notangelinajolie: that would be perfect for her DD2 I reckon!

I need to go back and read the HOF thread again too!

PomRuns · 11/09/2021 11:23

Sorry it’s £225 there’s a smaller set for £95 so not amazing value.

AprilLady · 11/09/2021 14:03

@PomRuns, at £95 it would be great! For £225 I’m definitely not tempted when things like CB and N-a-P are the same price!

Also remember the wonderful HoF thread from a few years back. Don’t think they’ve done a calendar since; maybe a staff member was a mumsnetter.

Still undecided about which of the luxe calendars to go for. My ranking so far is CB, then Space NK and then Net a Porter. This is based on a combination of things I’m excited about, things I already have and numbers of drawers of disappointment. But SpaceNK and Net a Porter launch in the next week or so and CB in mid October. Very concerned that if I wait for CB but miss out, then the other too will have sold out by then.

Also still want to see the Selfridges calendar contents before making a final decision.

supadupapupascupa · 11/09/2021 15:03

I want to know if fenwick are doing one this year. I loved last years

TracyBeakerSoYeah · 11/09/2021 17:23

@chloechloe nice to see a past member of The House of Funnel Club Grin
That thread was so funny especially the cats!

gratedbeetroot · 11/09/2021 18:00

Does anyone know if the Boots calendars usually go in the 3 for 2 offer? I’m thinking of getting a few as gifts.

My ASOS calendar has arrived.
