Oh dear God help me. My first date in 18 years!

I am going on a DATE. I am 50, newly single and I need help to get ready!!!

It’s next Sunday, we are going around a gallery/stately home type place. I have never met him in real life and my confidence has just ebbed away!

I’m 5’8” very too heavy size 18 and blonde. I have good hair, a nice face and then it starts to go meh the further down I go.Blush

So far I think I’ve settled on a maxi dress with a small sleeve, bit of cleavage at the front, but not sure about footwear. Or anything else for that matter. I’ve got one good hoik-em-up bra.

Help. I really don’t want him to be horrified and leg it. I mean, I know he’s a nice person and that’s unlikely but, well, you know...

I think a maxi dress with trainers for a stately home kind of day is both practical and fashionable

I say this as a 35 YO

Yes to nails and good blow dry. Low carb for a few days to feel more confident for you ??

How long have you been speaking to him for?

As you haven't met him yet and don't know what he's like in the flesh, I'd arrange to have a friend hanging around the gallery just in case something happens and you need to get away.

Pompoms that’s a good idea re low carb. It constipates me a bit so I’ll have to keep it all moving!

I think you'll look lovely. I did OLD, my experience was that men were at least as nervous as I was.

Your plan sounds good. Some flat, white trainers that are all the rage and maybe a well cut denim jacket with the dress? Nails done, maybe a blow dry and you’ll feel a million dollars. Well done!

Excited for you op -outfit sounds great and choice of activity sounds good. Some gel nails, make up and hair blow dry.

Denim jacket if not too hot? Love mine over a dress or skirt combo .

Lots of fruit and veg for a few days always helps me feel better!!

Enjoy the date and day out even if nothing comes from it.

Your idea sounds perfect. I was going to suggest denim jacket if another layer is needed too. Definitely get your nails done so you feel fabulous. Best of luck.

Doesnt need to be short as in cropped but normal waist length. I don't think a longer one would be right with a maxi dress. eBay might be a good shout if it's a week on Sunday and not this Sunday

Ok. Sorted denim jacket.

Had a breakthrough too - I bought some nice underwear in rhe sales ages ago but when I got it gone it was all too small and I forgot to take it back. Tried it again last night and I’ve lost a bit of weight and now it fits! So I have more bra options AND matching pants! Get in!
