Lovely but Ouch the price!

billydilly · 03/09/2021 15:29

This is the bonkers skirt. I was thinking of wearing it with Ruinous Coat, jumper and boots; bad idea? I'm short and OLD btw

Saurus72 · 03/09/2021 15:35

Thanks for the Harlequin klaxon! Have ordered in 2 different sizes to (hopefully) get the perfect one. I’ve ordered (and am returning) 3 other dresses this week that have just not worked out. This must surely be my Goldilocks moment?

Saurus72 · 03/09/2021 15:44

@billydilly the skirt is fabulous and I think with the coat it will look v luxe Scottish aristocracy stomping over heather. It’s been a long week 😬

billydilly · 03/09/2021 15:54

Grin I want that look! One of the advantages of being a gimmer is not having shits left to give. Bonkers aristo it is!

Blossomtoes · 03/09/2021 15:56

Fabulous skirt. If only I ever went anywhere to wear it - it’s not really dog walking garb!

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2021 15:57

I'm not convinced that its £180 nice ...but looking forward to seeing it .

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2021 16:44

.. the Harlequin that is ..

faustina · 03/09/2021 17:21

@billydilly - no such thing as too old to wear something you love - and that skirt is rather amazing!

Saurus72 · 03/09/2021 17:35

@Laska2Meryls It will need to be fabulous but tbh I do have Toast dresses that I’ve paid full price for when they are amazing and I haven’t regretted it. If I know that I will feel great in it, can immediately envisage myself wearing it in my real life (as opposed to a fantasy life), I don’t begrudge paying it.

Nanasueathome · 03/09/2021 17:38

@MrsCat1

!!!!Klaxon!!!! Harlequin dress is in stock! And it's in my basket! 😃😃😃
Thanks for that My toast basket was up to £670 but I’ve managed to tweak it a bit now and it’s only £575
ilovecherries · 03/09/2021 19:37

My fantasy Toast basket is currently at over £2K 😅. So I need to reduce that by about 90%. That’ll be a new pair of socks then.

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2021 20:18

Saurus I love the Harlequin dress actually, and if it ever makes the sale I will try it .. (think it just might , if you remember the Brushstroke dress - which I now have at reduced price - did, and that was about the same price originally ) .. But have t you seen the model? No bosom! It looks Fab-U-Lous on her .. but I am a 36 E!! .. i think that if you have a bust like mine ( and lets face it - a Coronastone-tum like i do right now) it could look a bit maternity.

However if its 'You' ( and I do think it could be You with your fab figure) then its definitely worth the price .. Looking forward to seeing it on you ..

(I am kinda tempted to order it anyway, to try knowing that they have sorted out their refunds.... )

This, 💯.
JustforToast · 03/09/2021 20:31

I’m just a little skeptical about the arm style on the harlequin. I have the ditsy print dress in the same style and it’s just a little bit too like a kaftan to be useful for the autumn/winter.

I’m really interested to hear how others get on with your it.

Laska2Meryls · 03/09/2021 20:40

Ps, they're BIG. Size down.

iguanadonna · 05/09/2021 12:32

I have reports. Ordered stuff to try and sadly mostly not right.

Everything in 18/XL or L. I'm very curvy hourglass, wide shoulders. A bit over 5'7", 172 ish.

Alix Chanterelle Check Trousers. Beautiful colours, fabric. I almost kept these, but changed mind. First time I've tried Alix. Flattering cut, comfortable. But just a bit short. These are an autumn/winter fabric, so short is silly, especially where I live with proper winters. Ok with boots, but as soon as sit down, flesh exposed. I'd have kept them if they'd been two inches longer. Possibly if they'd been lined. Or half the price. But at €255.00 they'd have to be properly perfect in every way.

Cotton Short Sleeve Circular Tee (in L), coal. This is much nicer than you'd guess from the photos. A really interesting, attractive cut and useful colour. To look good on me it'd need to have a wider neck, more slash/boat, and it would need to be two inches longer. It's a shorter top, which is useful with the higher waister trouser and skirt styles, but still too short on me. But if you have neater shoulders (which you are almost certain to) and are shorter, especially shorter in the body, it'd be great. Nice over generous bust but would probably be good on flatter chest too.

Lys Floral Print Shirt. Fabric and pattern as gorgeous as appear in photos. But has a lot of gather around shoulders, neck, which look ludicrous on me. Sort of frilly tent effect. If you have slighter shoulders and a figure which can take frilly gathery looks, this is a beautiful blouse.

Wool Tencel High Neck Tee | Dark Green. Almost kept this too. Lovely colour, lovely feel. I am very sensitive to wool but could happily have worn this against skin. But it would only really be useful for layering, since too see-through and not quite flattering enough to wear on own. And for layering it's a bit thick and not silky enough. I have thick silk tops which I wear under jumpers and which don't add bulk. On the other hand this has a nice neck for sticking up out of jumpers. If I had a jumper which it went with and looked nice under, I would have kept it. Good and long.

Bold Floral Wool Scarf | Anthracite/Multi. This is beautiful and I'm keeping it, even though I can't figure out what to wear it with. Sooner or later something will turn up, I guess, since the colours suit me.

I'm wondering about trying the neat cardigan in brown, which might look nice with the scarf. Does anyone have the cardie? What do you wear under? Perhaps I should keep the green high neck tee for the purpose. Or possibly the plain woollen jumper in brown.

ScottishMouse · 05/09/2021 13:53

Great report @iguanadonna.

I have the circular tshirt in coal. I bought it early in the summer but have only worn it a couple of times. It didn’t wash well and somehow just looks cheap and nothing a good fit now. So I would say definitely do return that. Not worth the cost at all.

I also bought that scarf recently and I love it. But am also finding it a bit tricky to style. I think it will be easier when it is proper sweater weather (it kind of has been this week, but today it is over 20 degrees!). I have so far worn it with a white tshirt and denim jacket, and with a plain dark grey sweater and with the navy boiled wool cardi from last season. I think it will look good both folded over and tied at the front, but also folded into a large triangle and worn as a large neckerchief.

I have tried the brown neat cardigan. I would say if you are sensitive to wool on the skin, then you will definitely need something with a high-ish neck underneath as I found it quite itchy and it comes up quite high.

iguanadonna · 05/09/2021 14:24

Thanks @ScottishMouse. Jean jacket and t shirt is very good idea to go with that scarf! Will try it tomorrow.

How did you get on with the neat cardigan, other than itchy?

ScottishMouse · 05/09/2021 14:33

Other than itchy, it was very nice. It is indeed neat, and I tried my normal size and the size up. The size up didn’t work though, it is definitely not the right shape to wear oversized. But I knew I wouldn’t wear it because of the itch so didn’t buy.
