@ThisIsNotAGloveSong I have tried the micro check skirt. Fabric is lovely but the cut didn't do much for me I'm afraid. It was just a bit too over sized but would have suited someone with a different body shape.

MrsCat1 · 01/09/2021 18:14

Meant to say micro check DRESS - don't think there is a skirt! I think I would love it on somebody else.

ilovecherries · 01/09/2021 18:17

Haha, I saw that glove. You got a right had time for it. FWIW, I think it’s a lovely dress. I have tried it, but it has quite deep dolman sleeves which I felt might write off wearing it with knitwear, plus I don’t like the feel of my bare arms on my bare side (weird). Fabric is lovely though and in the end I settled for the cropped trousers in that fabric. It’s def worth a try to see how it works on you. I liked your shoes as well 😀

Blossomtoes · 01/09/2021 18:30

@ThisIsNotAGloveSong

Has anyone tried this dress, is it as nice as I hope it is?

www.toa.st/products/micro-gingham-cotton-dress-slate-ecru?utm_source=criteo&utm_medium=retargeting&utm_campaign=retargeting

I'm getting laughed at on another thread for wanting it.

Take no notice, the ageism and competitive insults on that thread are awful. It’s a perfectly nice dress, I don’t like dolman sleeves so it’s not for me but there’s absolutely nothing wrong with it.
NoCureForLove · 01/09/2021 18:46

@ThisIsNotAGloveSong that thread was very odd.
I've seen the dress in rl and the fabric is very nice. Stiff enough to not go floppy. You go for it.

ScottishMouse · 01/09/2021 19:01

@ThisIsNotAGloveSong, I tried that dress and reported back here earlier in this thread. I think others discussed it earlier on this thread too if you want to take a look.
Anyway, I think it is such a lovely dress. The fabric in particular is great. It has no shoulder seam and the arms have a sort of kimono shape, and the waist is very wide, so it was very big over all. I would size down if I were you. I didn’t keep it ultimately because I didn’t like the collar on me. It felt quite high, but this could just be me as shirt collars don’t usually work on me. Hope that helps.

billydilly · 01/09/2021 19:03

Hi Toasties, I'm new to this shop but tried this on today and really loved it, ££££ though. Does anyone have it and can recommend? It's the new season houndstooth coat.

ToastCosILoveIt · 01/09/2021 21:25

@ThisIsNotAGloveSong, you have come to the right place (some of the comments on that other thread were awful). For sizing, I tried that dress on in Marylebone: I am a busty 12 and the small was plenty big enough. I didn't buy it as it didn't suit me - completely drained me of colour although oddly the jumpsuit in the same fabric didn't drain me and I did buy that! Nothing that one of the lovely vibrant Toast neck scarves couldn't sort out though.

@billydilly, I saw that coat in the Marylebone store and it looked lush. It is a hefty coat - one for the colder winter days. It would be an investment piece as it would see you through a few winters.

ilovecherries · 01/09/2021 21:37

That coat is a thing of beauty

Mariclaire82 · 01/09/2021 21:49

@ToastCosILoveIt

Really enjoying the photos, everyone looks fab.

I have had a dispatch notice for my green Dora boots. I will let all you know when they arrive and if they are a keeper. My biggest worry is fit. I am a size 5 but have a dodgy left foot big toe which means i have to have a generous footbed. Solovair does tend to be generous in size so fingers crossed. Has anyone else ordered them?

@ToastCosILoveIt I have the Solovair Dora boots in black from last year in a 5 - I am always a size 6 in all other brands so they do come up big- but they are wonderful to wear, and look so smart... tempted by the green this year but my black ones are in such great nick still that I can't justify it just yet! let us know how you get on...

Hi everyone, I’ve been lurking for a while as I am a recent Toast convert. Tried the ikat Kantha jacket on in store in reddish tones. Absolutely loved it but the large was a bit snug and I can’t bring myself to pay £200 plus for something that isn’t perfect. Does anyone know of any alternative brands?

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2021 12:09

@alliscalm
You can try Etsy
Also East had a through [ Online shop] although i didn't like the gathered puffs on the sleeves.
Try anthropologie
Indigowares although most have sold out but I think there is fresh stock coming soon.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2021 12:09

had a few

Laska2Meryls · 02/09/2021 12:21

Just popping in to say no Toast for me today ....my job for today is bramble cutting! Old jeans and sweatshirt ... not even Monty Don stylish .. .. and you wont want a photo of those , I imagine ...
.

alliscalm · 02/09/2021 13:22

@neveradullmoment99 Thank you so much. East stuff can be a bit overpowering sometimes. Will keep an eye on indigowares.
Another question… when it says sold out on the Toast website, do they ever restock? Or does this mean September 2 is too late to buy a wool cardigan for this winter.
Love this thread

They did a very similar coat which I bought at start of 2020, when it was reduced to half price in their sale) It’s lovely Due to lockdown I’ve only worn it a couple of times but I’m hoping to get years more wear out of it
billydilly · 02/09/2021 13:48

@Nanasueathome Thanks. Obsessed with the coat, can't stop thinking about it. I'm justifying the cost by the thought that it'll last for years, no idea if that's true though!

It will last for years - probably longer than you want it to!

balkanscot · 02/09/2021 14:56

OK, Tala dress is back in stock in size 8!!! In fact, it has been back in stock in size 8 for the past week. I keep going to the webpage, determined to order it and the hell with the consequences, i.e., car insurance payment that’s due in mid-September.

I also can’t quite bring myself to ask for it for my birthday (in 9 days’ time), feels kind of grabby.

If any of you do have it, would you mind taking a snap and posting it here? I need to decide before it goes out of stock again.

Damn!!!! Maybe I can just mothball the car. Argh!

Gonegrey31 · 02/09/2021 15:20

balkanscot I might be able to help resolve your dilemma - I recently ordered the blue Tala dress that I had long wanted, in my (elusive) size 6. I am normally a size 8 in Toast dresses but had found that the style seemed oversized. However, when the dress arrived it was so creased and "tired" looking that I wondered whether it had been languishing in a warehouse for months - although it was a perfect fit, I decided that £160 was far too much for a dress in poor condition.

I got the dress for a discount price. I didn't like it at all. It gaped under the arms. The style for me was a no.
Blossomtoes · 02/09/2021 15:38

And summer’s over. It’ll just hang in the wardrobe all winter and Toast will produce something even lovelier next year.

Are we helping @balkanscot?

Love this thread[/quote]
It depends. They restock in general only once. If it's already been restocked or has been on the website for ages usually not.
If it's the kantha, it's a staple so I'm sure they will.

neveradullmoment99 · 02/09/2021 15:46

What is it you are hoping for? If I know the item I may be able to give you more of an idea, having stalked things for years. ( No insider knowledge sadly)

Countmeout · 02/09/2021 16:34

But the Tala in green goes beautifully over Francis Long sleeve Tee in chalk white to extend its use.
Just saying . 🤔
