Although the trousers were nice.

@neveradullmoment99

OMG the outfit with the hat was ridiculous! That poor woman wearing that. seriously looked fancy dress.
I actually like the dress she had on but not with the other things. It just looked ridiculous.
Love the skirt in the lady who wore it with the coat dress. Thought she looked fab in it.

Oh god yes!!, she just looked utterly embarrassed .. poor woman .. I did like the denim dress but it was too big on her I thought .

I love the sand/yellow utility jacket though ( but not with the trousers )

...not the sand quilted jacket... that looked very M&S to me .. the workwear one I like

Absolutely, the outfit with the hat was comical. All those elements might be good on their own, but together it was just too much.
Also, why so much yellow this season? Yellow looks awful on me. I quite like the quilted jacket, but would like it in a different colour. The workwear one too, more colours please. I do like the yellow rain hat, but I have tried it in the black colour and it is very small indeed and I don’t have a particularly big head.
What I did notice online though is that the Alix trousers are back in indigo twill. I bought these when they were around the first time, maybe 4/5 years ago, and they are totally perfect. I would highly recommend them for any Alix fans out there.

@TheChattyRat, totally agree with the other comments. Not so keen on the placed check dress on you but the cotton cashmere check one is beautiful on you. I tried and failed to get that one to work for me, I was between sizes.

Agree all quite underwhelming but I’m wondering if it’s the last of the SS21 collection that didn’t make it in time (COVID etc) so they’re grouping it together now?

I feel in two minds about it all - on the one hand, quite relieved that my money is safe for now (with the exception of the wrap indigo denim skirt which looks ridiculously useful and I’m pretty sure I will live in it - planning to buy next month). On the other hand, quite sad I don’t love anything and have new things to obsess about. Have high hopes for the actual autumn collection, this time of year is often a no man’s land for clothes.

Agree @Saurus72, the wrap skirt looks lovely! I have trouble with Toast skirts as my waist is not slim, but with a wrap there is often the possibility of moving the button a bit. Will look forward to seeing that one in person.

Thanks for the link @ToastCosILoveIt , not sure that the video did the clothes justice Hmm .

Another Toast question, just ordered over £300 of full price, added one sale item and had the £3 delivery charge added - is that right? Seems a bit odd to me.

Can I ask if anyone has ordered the ulla sandals ? Most of the reviews say they are a small narrow fit and to size up. I do have narrow feet but am between sizes - 5.5. Just wondered whether to go up to a size 6 ?
Tia.

Happiness is … a sunny campsite, a Toast frock, good coffee and an excellent book as recommended by gonegrey. As our campsite is just a couple of miles from the setting of the book, a walked into the village and bought the book from an actual tiny bookshop (along with a cone of the somewhat delicious Galloway ice cream - but that didn’t make the photo as I ate it on the walk back). I would say in this moment I feel a little better than I have felt since October.

Love your post @ilovecherries - small moments of joy/contentment make a difference. Here’s my Toast dress - on the way to a lovely country pub to take my parents out for lunch. This dress has been an absolute workhorse and I get compliments every time I wear it 😊

Delightful @ilovecherries and I even recognise the frock you’re wearing!

@Sanguinesuzy I don’t have the ulla sandals but I sized up one size on the kitty clogs and they are perfect. I have average width feet. I think half size up would be fine for you.

Lovely frock @Saurus72 I don’t have that one!

The new items are now listed on the website. Nothing is crying out for me to buy full price. It’s actually made me order more things from the sale as I prefer the selection there.

Morning everyone!! I have 5 days off work now so feeling much more cheery than I did midweek!
Rather unfortunately, I have found a number of new items I would love, this is my basket which is the pared down version! I won't be ordering yet as I have no money, but it's going to spur me on to sell a few things on eBay that I never wear in the hope of getting at least a couple of the things:

Thanks @AuldFox - I bought it last summer when JL we’re doing their massive reductions, 70% off, about £50. Makes wearing it all the more enjoyable 🤗

It’s funny how you think you’re going to suit something and you end up with another instead. My best buy was the Iria dress, the print looked gorgeous in the real life, much nicer than online. I thought I would be keeping the wave print dress but it did nothing for me.

Saurus72 · 10/07/2021 11:40

No, I tried the wave print dress in a shop I was convinced it would be perfect - looked rubbish on me, the waist seam was v unflattering.

@Saurus72 - what a lovely print that dress has!

@TheChattyRat - I hope you're keeping the check cotton cashmere dress - it looks lovely on you

I've just sent back the green Ashley jeans and the ecru Annie cropped trousers - neither suited me at all

I was also a bit underwhelmed at the video though I have that hat in black and it's really nice - I bought it last year for queueing in the rain outside supermarkets. I don't jam it down on my head like that woman in the video. I'm very tempted by the Alix indigo trousers! @ScottishMouse how thick are they? I have them in cotton linen so wonder how they compare?

@faustina, they are thicker than the cotton linen ones. But not thick like denim. I wear them all year round. They are totally fab.
In other Toast news, I tried on the wrap denim skirt today (a friend dragged me into the shop again as we walked past, I swear!) It is so lovely but does not work for me as my waist is too thick. The 8 barely closed, and I would have had to move the buttons too much. The seam around the hips is at an angle and looks weird if it doesn’t line up properly. The 10 fitted on the waist but the hips stuck out because the fabric is thick. Hope that helps anyone considering it.

thanks @ScottishMouse - very tempted! I bet they fade beautifully too

Thanks for your skirt review @ScottishMouse . Do you mind me asking if size 8 is your usual Toast dress size? I always have to size upon Toast skirts so fully expecting to not be happy about that!
