Naff things in other people's fashion sense

I know that it is a question of each to his own etc but what do you find naff in other people's fashion sense?

OP posts:
KineticSand · 26/06/2021 09:36

Big name expensive handbags that you might have well have left the price tag on.

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 09:36

Knock yourselves out though. It’s clearly fun for a lot of you.

wowhie · 26/06/2021 09:36

Men can be working- class too.

Who claimed otherwise?

KineticSand · 26/06/2021 09:37

Sorry typo- might as well have left the price tag on because everyone knows how expensive they are and it looks like a brag

MareofBeasttown · 26/06/2021 09:37

Tattoos.

wowhie · 26/06/2021 09:38

@HermioneGrunger I think it's the type of anorak tbh. In a similar vein I dislike going to wedding & seeing a lovely dress covered up by a boring coat or a pashmina.

Victoriantiles · 26/06/2021 09:38

Leggings under dresses and vest tops under wrap dresses.

Long tops under normal tops.

Bright tacky prints on women over a certain size/age.

Saying all that, I don’t actually care what anyone else wears. But these are the things that I wouldn’t wear/do because they look frumpy and tasteless IMO.

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 09:38

You were the one who pointed out you were mocking men too @wowhie. Interesting that since I posted, you are all now desperately trying to find middle-class crimes against fashion to laugh at.

LST · 26/06/2021 09:39

Oh goodie. Another thread to make people feel like shit

Backhills · 26/06/2021 09:40

I'm not sure I'd judge anything as naff but things others do that I never would are:

-Anything obviously fake, nails, eyelashes, eyebrows, lip fillers. If they're so good you wouldn't know, I'd exclude those from the list, but I wouldn't know if I'd seen them.
-Anything that restricts movement or activity for the sake of looking good. Heels, hobble skirts, nails (again).

  • Animal prints. I don't know why but I just can't bring myself.
wowhie · 26/06/2021 09:40

@Jahebejrjr my first posts mentioned men, boden dresses & Kate Middleton but ok...

HalzTangz · 26/06/2021 09:40

Mutton dressed as lamb, older people in younger people's clothing is just a super tacky look

KineticSand · 26/06/2021 09:41

There are 3 threads with the word "naff" in the title right now. The word naff is naff

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 09:42

What the hell is wrong with any of that @wowhie? A lot of women aspire to wear Boden clothes. What’s wrong with Kate Middleton? What do you wear that we should all aspire to?

PurpleyBlue · 26/06/2021 09:42

Yeah it's got quite judgey round here
Veryverycalmnow · 26/06/2021 09:43

I think loud patterned trousers can be horrible

MareofBeasttown · 26/06/2021 09:43

Why would anyone feel like shit? I wear Joules, Seasalt and Boden, and I am not sobbing into my cornflakes over poster upthread saying they look naff and boring. 🙂

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 09:43

Like I said on the other thread, some people give out serious Amanda from Motherland vibes.

frogswimming · 26/06/2021 09:44

I love kate Middleton's hair!!! She has the most luxuriant perfect hair ever.

No accounting for taste, eh!

Backhills · 26/06/2021 09:45

You're not poor if you're having regular spray tan, fake nails and lashes, HD brows, hair extensions and lip fillers. What's the monthly cost of that? My eyebrow wax and light tint feels like an extravagance.

Victoriantiles · 26/06/2021 09:45

I’ve never had fillers but there is a page on Instagram called consultant clinic, they are all trained doctors and their work is amazing and if I were to have anything like that done I’d go to one of their clinics.

I think the overfilled look most people think of is from when people go to their local hairdressers and get it done by someone who’s been on a day course.

Pinuporc · 26/06/2021 09:46

I dont like "talon" style nails but mainly because I'm curious how you actually do stuff with super long nails - like washing up, chopping up food (without chopping your nails!) putting on contact lenses, counting bank notes, dealing with san pro BlushBlush etc

frogswimming · 26/06/2021 09:46

I doubt the friends cast got their lip fillers done in the back of a hairdressers.

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 09:46

@Backhills I believe I said poorer, not poor.

HalzTangz · 26/06/2021 09:47

@Jahebejrjr

Men can be working- class too.
It's mostly middle class who I see with fake tan, bad extensions and tippex teeth
