Naff things in other people's fashion sense

I know that it is a question of each to his own etc but what do you find naff in other people's fashion sense?

OP posts:
RichardMarxisinnocent · 26/06/2021 10:43

This has obviously hit a nerve with you but for me and my own backside I would wear such trousers with an arse skimming top. It’s not difficult. I own quite a few of them. It just requires two mirrors to check out ones rear view and the desire to not embarrass yourself in public.
I can't work out whether you are being serious here or not, but if you are, but no it hasn't hit a nerve, I wear what Iike or what's practical and if people find it naff that's very much their problem. I was just interested to know what the people judging would think was acceptable. Once again, sweat wicking sports tops don't necessarily come in arse skimming lengths, but that's fine because I am not in any way embarrassed by what I wear. I'd feel I had embarrassed myself in public if, for example I got into a drunken brawl, but never because of what I wear.

Oh give over. Who, in these days of Primark - not to mention charity shops and EBay - can’t afford more than one, black handbag? This look is usually sported by women wearing decent quality anoraks, too, which are not cheap. As for storage space, how much space do two or three bags take up???I’m all for minimalism and a capsule wardrobe but come on!

I only have a few handbags - a black one (for smart occasions and funerals) a small one for weddings and parties and a canvass sports brand one for everything else. I missed the handbag gene and have never lusted over fancy handbags or felt the need to have lots.

PoppyFern · 26/06/2021 10:45

Handbags are naff

wowhie · 26/06/2021 10:46

😆

wowhie · 26/06/2021 10:47

court shoes particularly nude. I don't need to look "professional" at work though.

Jahebejrjr · 26/06/2021 10:47

@WaltzingBetty It is absolutely part of the culture where I am. It’s undeniable when you look at the high street and how people dress. I, unlike others, do not see it as a negative thing.

Ripped jeans, not subtle rips but ones that should be destined for the rag bag.

Well I guess your personal experience isn't representative of the WC across the UK 🤷‍♀️

I totally understand you feeling protective of your friends but I'm not sure this is the class issue you think it is. Having lived in different parts of the UK I'd say that the WC in London dress differently from Sheffield who dress differently from Liverpool. I think it's much more about regional norms than a general WC fashion

Judge much ! This thread is vile !! Let people wear and look how they want to !!!! People wear or do things to make themselves feel better/good and the reason they do it is cus they worry what other people are thinking and going by this thread they rightly are to believe it !! Shame on u !!

PurpleyBlue · 26/06/2021 10:51

Men wearing loafers with no socks Envy

@ChiefInspectorParker

Has it not occurred to you that some women can't afford to buy multiple handbags /other bags to ensure they have one which goes with every outfit? Or maybe they don't have room in their home to store multiple handbags?

They can afford the coat because they haven't spent their money on multiple handbags.

I have 1 black handbag. I could buy another but that's at least £5 I could use to feed my family

The OP asked about fashion sense, ie clothes that are chosen on the basis of style not function.

If you’re running in your running gear then wear hot pants for all I care. I will mentally cheer you on if I see you. More power to your elbow. But if I only ever see you wearing your running trousers as day wear and I never see you running in them I’m going to assume they are ‘active wear’ and you’re wearing them as a style statement. Then. as I’m walking behind you morning and afternoon my mind is hypnotised by your flapping arse cheeks and yes I do wonder if you own more than one mirror and only own one outfit.

wowhie · 26/06/2021 10:56

Waistcoats & polo necks, always makes a man look like a magician from the 90s.

Comedy ties.

Badtasteflump · 26/06/2021 10:58

Jeez thank goodness you lot are so perfectly styled and can show the rest of us plebs the way.

KatyS36 · 26/06/2021 10:59

Hello, I don't care what others wear for exercise, but I feel better running with my bum covered. Sweaty betty has woken up to this need and now sells wicking tops in longer lengths. This balances out my hourglass figure when I'm wearing tight leggings.

@stevalnamechanger fair enough, I’ve never looked at their reviews as I’m not close enough to needing fillers yet, but you get what I mean, there are professionals out there that aren’t just beauticians who’ve done a days training and not everyone who’s had them looks like a duck!

Also I think it’s worth mentioning not everyone wants to look natural. If I was to have work done I would probably keep it to myself and hope that people thought I just looked good for my age but some people want that pumped up look.

Ok so you've switched from your for me and my own backside I would wear such trousers with an arse skimming top judgement of other women's bodies to ableist judgement of women wearing sportswear when not exercising

Nice

Ffs nobody 'needs' fillers.

Wake up!

SirenSays · 26/06/2021 11:03

Espadrilles, they look like something Tom Hanks would have worn in castaway.

PricklesAndSpikes · 26/06/2021 11:04

There are lots of things I see other people wearing that aren't my style, but to say what other people choose to wear is "naff" is the height of self-important, judgemental snobbery. What a horrid bunch of people some of you are up there on your perfect high horses!

Have you seen the price of sweaty Betty clothing? So women who want to run must now subscribe to the modesty requirements of strangers and spend a fortune to do so or risk being judged by other women.

How about other women should just be less cunty?
