What white trainers are currently "in"?

ARoseGarden · 07/06/2021 11:23

I want to buy a pair of white trainers to wear with jeans and dresses for the summer as I'm bored of my Converse and Vans.

What white trainers are currently "in"? (Not that it matters, but I would like to know)

Thank you!

Fila disrupters or Air Force ones?

Pinotwoman82 · 07/06/2021 16:27

Watching with interest, I’ve had converse for many years now and fancy a change. I’ve heard about air & grace? But I think they are quite pricey?

SallyCinnabon · 07/06/2021 21:27

I’m not sure if they’re in (I might be a bit out of touch BlushGrin) but Stan Smith’s?

TuvoknotSpock · 07/06/2021 22:20

How, HOW do people keep white trainers clean??? I use a baby wipe/wash laces but they still look "worn". Loads of people on the street have such nice sparkly ones!

silentlight · 07/06/2021 22:28

Superga- plus you can throw them in the wash

Bagelsandbrie · 07/06/2021 22:30

Air Force one (Nike)
Adidas Sleek or Stan smith
Puma Cali

Serpenta · 07/06/2021 22:32

Vejas seem popular with the 30/40 somethings

Nike Air Force for the edgier/younger look.

Laufeythejust · 07/06/2021 22:33

Been beaten to it, I was going to suggest Air Force ones

beepbeep · 07/06/2021 22:34

I have white leather superga, but the fabric bits get filthy really quick. Can they go in the wash??

callmemaybee · 07/06/2021 22:43

I’m 23 and wholeheartedly disagree with these suggestions! However it might be different with your generation/your peers of course.

You wouldn’t find people my age in stan smiths/fila disruptors as both are hugely outdated. Vans aren’t “in”. Converse had a resurgence in recent years, but I think popularity is beginning to wane again. The more “premium” styles like the platform, leather or rarer colours are the way to go.

Popular trainers now are chunky like the Balenciaga Track (which are expensive!) or Adidas ozweego.

For a more slim style Air Force are popular, as are the “knit” trainers like Yeezy or Balenciaga Speed.

Jordans are popular. Nike release new colourways regularly which each sell out within seconds.

OverByYer · 07/06/2021 22:46

Air Force ones, which look good and are so comfy!

MilduraS · 07/06/2021 22:51

Oh dear lord.. just googled the Balenciaga Confused

i have a pair of yellow Vejas which my DH compares to orthopaedic shoes. They aren't the comfiest if I'm honest but I chose them for their fair trade. I'll be looking elsewhere for the next pair of ethical trainers. Wish I could justify the Stella McCartney Stan Smiths. I love them.

yassss · 07/06/2021 23:03

I have "white" canvas Superga, never again. I have tried Oxi, Vanish powder, wash at 30, absolutely everything. Can't get the whiteness back at all, they look grubby. What a waste of money!

I am convinced Duchess Kate has a brand new pair every time she wears them.

Teessider · 07/06/2021 23:18

I wear Ozweegos - have three pairs in pale pink, white and black. Also All Birds

RosaBudDrood · 07/06/2021 23:24

I must be totally outdated then 😂

callmemaybee · 07/06/2021 23:26

@RosaBudDrood I mean…

BruisedPear · 07/06/2021 23:28

I’m with the previous poster. I’m in my twenties and fila disruptors are a definite no.
Balenciaga may have even had their moment similar to the Alexander McQueens tbh.

Veja’s are good but don’t clean well, Air Force 1’s or Jordan’s 1’s from Nike are good at a lower price point. Common projects are classic and pretty comfortable.
Higher end white sneakers would be Saint Laurent SL06, Chanel white sneakers or something like the Hermes Advantage sneaker. All pretty comfortable in my opinion and go with everything.

Good luck with whatever you choose don’t forget to spray with something like crept protect to keep them white !

Fila disrupters are not massively outdated Hmm I'm also in my 20s and work with teenagers and lots of mr friends and the kids I work with wear them. Agree about Stan smiths though! Balenciagas are grim tho, don't care if they're in or not!
SocksAndTheCity · 07/06/2021 23:30

No idea whether these are in or out or somewhere in the middle and don't really care, because I love them (and am nearly fifty, so doubtless nobody else cares either) but I have these

www.kurtgeiger.com/women/shoes/trainers/low-tops/leighton-white-fabric-kg-kurt-geiger

They are incredibly comfortable and not so flat they make my legs ache. Plus they come out of the machine looking immaculate Smile

DoodleBelle · 07/06/2021 23:33

Another vote for Air Force 1s and I’m in my late 20s

Pieceofpurplesky · 07/06/2021 23:34

Mine are puma but I am incredibly unfashionable

Serpenta · 07/06/2021 23:37

Me looking at the Balenciaga trainers. Those are some ugly clumpy shoes. Such a reasonable price thought Grin

winched · 07/06/2021 23:37

Air force ones have been my go-to for two / three years and I'm nowhere near ready to give them up. I'm going to be gutted when they become dated because they're the perfect trainer IMO. They stay white, they're comfy, they look good with jeans / leggings / dresses and they make my feet look small (I find converse clown-like on me but I might just have weird skinny feet).

I buy the women's for keeping pristine if I'm going somewhere nice and the juniors for if I'm going somewhere they might get un-whited like a muddy rainy walk Grin

MiddlesexGirl · 07/06/2021 23:44

The world has gone mad if this is considered a lower price point!

ConstanceMarkievicz · 07/06/2021 23:47

23 year olds arent automatically The Last Word. They can be far too slavish in the brands they will/wont wear. It can be like a uniform, the dictated brand. By 30s/40s people interpret trends through their own lenses thankfully
