What white trainers are currently "in"?

I want to buy a pair of white trainers to wear with jeans and dresses for the summer as I'm bored of my Converse and Vans.

What white trainers are currently "in"? (Not that it matters, but I would like to know)

Thank you!

And due to another thread on here I have just come across the Balenciaga Crocs! I recommend you Google them if you want to piss yourself laughing.

@StrawberryLipstickStateOfMind

I'm 33 and love my white supergas and my white Adidas gazelles (which were kids ones I think)!

I get told I look young for my age but tbh I've always just worn whatever the hell I like and don't really give a shit about what is actually in fashion. Some trends are nice but some are fucking awful so I'd much rather be out of fashion and wearing something that I like and that goes together as an outfit.

I hate lots of the chunky trainers as think they look really ugly and like just really plain and simple ones to wear with summer dresses.

I was about to shoot myself for trainer related crimes until your post but I will now carry on with my Supergas and Gazelles. I am a bit lot older than you though.

@winched Thanks for answering!

What's the difference between the women's and the junior's?

One is £90 and the other is £50

This is the conclusion I came to. Seemed a no-brainer to get the junior's... bargain!

IME no... but in my indie / grungey phase I lived in boots and never ever trainers, so I'm not sure? I'm 29... maybe different years?

I'm 49

Seriously though, at least I got to see Nirvana live GrinWink

I’m early 40s and have been wearing AF ones through lockdown. I know all the teens are wearing them, but I think they look cool and in my head I’m 17 Grin

I also have silver Converse.

For grown up days, I’ve just bought white canvas Supergas. I like the dress and white trainers look and I can wear these to work if I keep them clean!

Round here all the posh mums are wearing Veja and Gucci. The latter are about £500, I refuse to pay this for any shoe.

MapleMay11 · 10/06/2021 12:12

How disappointed would you be to spend £700 on a pair of Balenciagas for them to be announced dead in the water? This is why fashion trends are crazy.

To be fair, most people would have bought them years ago if they liked them. Grin

Delatron · 10/06/2021 12:49

I’m over Veja now that they are pretty much everywhere. Especially 35+. Liked them a few years ago when nobody had really heard of them.

I’m loving New Balance at the moment. Mine are more pale grey than white with orange motif. So comfy and well fitting. I found converse too flimsy.

Crimeismymiddlename · 10/06/2021 13:07

I tend to stick to the all white vans/converse in summer, they fit well and they are a good price-esp if you get them on depop. Tried AF1s but my feet did not take to them.

@TuvoknotSpock

How, HOW do people keep white trainers clean??? I use a baby wipe/wash laces but they still look "worn". Loads of people on the street have such nice sparkly ones!

You need Crep Protect spray. It’s on Amazon.

Have enjoyed reading this thread.

I just bought some Russell and Bromley Park Up flatforms. I don’t even think they could be consider trainers in the context of this thread 😂but I love em. I’m 48

I was at my local shopping centre the other day, it was gorgeous weather and I had a good look at what trainers everyone was wearing. As expected Nike Air Force 1s seemed to be the most common trainer with teenagers/younger women but I also saw lots of converse, vans, Adidas superstars, lots of other Nike styles and reeboks on young and fashionably dressed girls. Didn’t spot any of the weird £700+ trainers on anyone.

On a side note I rarely see Stan smiths in the wild in my town (despite them always being recommended here) but on a day trip to London a couple of years ago they were absolutely everywhere. I honestly think at least 50% of adults on the tube, male and female, were in them.

Thisisworsethananticpated · 10/06/2021 22:39

Reebok classics

Love them and so comfortable

crapbuttrue · 11/06/2021 06:29

@Catra I like you style. But I like Stan Smiths - hate clumpy trainers- so what do I know 😂

ChubbyLittleManInACampervan · 11/06/2021 10:52

I am wearing some random chunky white Nike ones, they are very untrendy , a bit like I’m off to go and play tennis Grin

Serpenta · 11/06/2021 10:54

I like how unobtrusive Stan Smiths are. I'm not into the obtrusive shenanigans of clompy trainers.

Blossomtoes · 11/06/2021 11:37

That’s why I like Adidas Sleek - a lighter, more refined Stan Smith. Nobody notices them.

I’ve not tried this but my niece told me the other day that the “pink stuff” cleaning paste worked wonders on her trainers
@winched

I buy the women's for keeping pristine if I'm going somewhere nice and the juniors for if I'm going somewhere they might get un-whited like a muddy rainy walk

What's the difference between the women's and the junior's? I'm just asking because I've just bought a pair of junior's but I was wondering whether I should be buying the women's?

I have a question for all the fashion followers: the crease. Now, when I were a lass, only the townies had sparkling white, uncreased trainers. If you were like me, more indie/grungey, you went out of your way to crease them and make them dirty. Is that still a thing???
I don’t know if that’s still a thing, but my 16 year old niece ended up walking longer than anticipated recently and said her feet hurt as she has some plastic contraption in her trainers to stop them creasing Shock

How old are you @ARoseGarden it seems like each age group has a different “in” 😅 I’m wearing a pair from Dune with a star on the side. They’re possibly very 2019

Iusedtofly · 12/06/2021 22:36

I’m in love with these Gola’s. Off white and canvas with a partial towelling lining-so comfy and they go with everything,especially dresses. On me anyway! Got mine in John Lewis

Comfort was key for me with arthritic toes, so I tried loads on.
The most comfortable for me were black leather Nike Vintage Court and white Air Force Ones. I bought them both.
My teenage DS proclaimed the Courts 'gross' and the AF1's 'cool'!Grin
