What white trainers are currently "in"?

I want to buy a pair of white trainers to wear with jeans and dresses for the summer as I'm bored of my Converse and Vans.

What white trainers are currently "in"? (Not that it matters, but I would like to know)

Thank you!

@Catra

I'm 42 and I bought my first ever pair of white trainers yesterday, so I'm watching this thread with interest.

I went for Reebok Club C 85 vintage trainers because they're identical to the ones my mum wore in the 80s and they made me feel nostalgic.

Are they considered "in" or not? I'll keep them either way, I'm just intrigued as I don't have a bloody clue anymore!

I also love reebok classic trainers. They are so light and comfy. I think they look good too, and just a bit different from the air force 1s and vejas that everyone else is wearing.

@TuvoknotSpock

How, HOW do people keep white trainers clean??? I use a baby wipe/wash laces but they still look "worn". Loads of people on the street have such nice sparkly ones!
Crep Protect spray for prevention, Sneakers ER for the cure.

I bought these for DD (13). She said they fit her but they don't and now I've thrown away the box and can't send them back. They do fit me. I think they are fugly but am loathe to waste them. Am I going to look like a year if I wear them. I'm 47.

Year? Where did that come from? Should say twat

Turkishangora · 08/06/2021 08:28

@HelenHywater

My teens are all in Air Force ones.

I went to oxford street on Saturday (the novelty quickly wore off...) and every bugger was in white trainers and summer dress. Lots of vejas, adidas and converse.

I think it's time to start wearing something else now. I might start a ballet flat resergence. Having said that, I do like these

This. Went into MCR city centre few times over half term, every 40ish mum with kids on a day out was wearing summer dress and white trainers Inc me, felt like I was wearing a uniform!

I have a pair of customised white platform converse. However they're very rigid, hot and uncomfortable unfortunately and are taking ages to wear in. I love the look of them but they're my last converse purchase. Too uncomfortable.

@BilboBercow

Lol at recommending Chanel and Balenciaga. Are people actually spending £700 for fucking white trainers?
🤣 I know!!
thesunwillout · 08/06/2021 08:44

@yoshiblue

😆 Hang in there.

I've just bought another pair on eBay for a tenner.

Oops.

Poor you having to see them on teens in such close proximity.

I haven't seen many young people over lockdown etc, esp in my v small town.

Mine have to be 5.5 and made in Vietnam.
Ridiculous, but they fit the best.

I have a proper old solid pair in the shed, they used to be made so much better, like little bumper cars.

God I need a life 😁!

TheFairyCaravan · 08/06/2021 08:49

I wear Stan Smiths or Puma Calis. I’ve got ridiculously skinny legs and they’re the only ones I’ve tried that don’t look vaguely ridiculous with a Summer dress.

I honestly don’t care what a 23yo is wearing on their feet. If they want to pay £750 for a fugly pair of shoes then it’s up to them. I’m nit going to, however.

Inastatus · 08/06/2021 08:52

Bloody hell, I’ve just googled Balenciaga white trainers 😱

I’ve got a pair of Veja’s.

Ickythefirebobby · 08/06/2021 08:57

@SallyCinnabon

I’m not sure if they’re in (I might be a bit out of touch BlushGrin) but Stan Smith’s?
You can’t go wrong with a clean fresh pair of Stan smiths.
Branleuse · 08/06/2021 08:58

My teenagers both like air force ones, but as an adult, surely you look at what trainers you like the look of and are comfortable and go with your own style and dont have to worry about what kids are wearing?

dannydyerismydad · 08/06/2021 09:05

Round my way the teenagers all seem to be in Air Force ones.

The over 30s in adidas. I like Sleek and Forest Hills, but find Sambas the most comfortable.

liveinthesticks · 08/06/2021 09:09

I can’t do white trainers where I live (country side - would be covered in mud). Hit me with your colourful recommendations!

Ozanj · 08/06/2021 09:19

I hate the look of the white Air Force 1s. They look shit. Much prefer the colourful Nike Air Maxes for everyday or my trusted white canvas Levis for a more polished look. Who cares what’s in fashion?

Peanutbuttercupisyum · 08/06/2021 09:28

Well I wear white shell toe Adidas campus!!! They were a fiver on eBay!! I wear them with cool dresses and stuff, they defo aren’t the current brand but they make my legs look skinny and they look cool enough

winched · 08/06/2021 09:33

Who cares what’s in fashion?

The style and beauty board? Wink

ConstanceMarkievicz · 08/06/2021 09:34

I like the look of these, especially with shorter trousers

Terriblecreature · 08/06/2021 09:37

My suggestions have already been mentioned, Nike air force ones or Adidas ozweegos. Have both and both extremely comfortable to wear. Personally I wouldnt wear any of the Balenciaga ones mentioned, I think they r a bit chavy. I hate when designer items become so popular plus so many fakes out there too. It really depends on your style also x

Divebar2021 · 08/06/2021 09:42

Why does anyone care what teenagers are wearing FGS? And no offence to people in your 20’s but your opinion on this is not the be all and end all.
I do have Vejas but probably wouldn’t buy them again as they’re not that comfortable .... I don’t find them hard to clean though. I’m avoiding wearing them with dresses at the moment as I’m not that keen on how ubiquitous the look has become. I have acquired some Japanese Moonstars from Studio Nicholson and some Comme des Garçons x Converse hi tops. I’m not that bothered if anyone else thinks they’re cool or not - they are in my world and that’s all that matters.

ConstanceMarkievicz · 08/06/2021 09:50

Absolutely! I would rather know what the 30 somethings are wearing to be honest. 20 somethings still look like they're all marching around in uniform to me. I suppose it's not that long since they left school and it takes them a while to lose that tribal badge requirement in their choices.

RosaBudDrood · 08/06/2021 09:52

And no offence to people in your 20’s but your opinion on this is not the be all and end all

It most definitely is not. That's why I cannot understand the comment about Stan Smiths, Vans etc, being 'uncool' now 😂 as if our age group's opinion is gospel.

ConstanceMarkievicz · 08/06/2021 09:53

I think they're OK. I'd wear them in a not thinking too much about what I'm wearing today way. They look comfortable (if the fit!)

People our age only very recently threw out a pair of trainers that looked just like that so it won't look like you're trying to wear this season's trainers!

FastFood · 08/06/2021 09:54

I'm old (41) but my white trainers are always Stan Smith - Low chuck taylor (not the most comfortable though) - Reebok C85 and Nike Air Max 80 or 90.
I mostly wore my Stan Smith for the past 18 months, they're dead but I'm going to buy them again.

Wallabyone · 08/06/2021 09:54

I have many pairs of trainers, and I love a new white pair!

I have a simple pair of Axel Arigato and once I'd worn them a few times are very comfortable.
I have several different pairs of Reebok; I love them all.
I have a pair of Golden Goose - a little overrated and not that comfortable.

ConstanceMarkievicz · 08/06/2021 09:54

If these brands are still selling, they're in. When people stop buying them, they're out.
