What white trainers are currently "in"?

I want to buy a pair of white trainers to wear with jeans and dresses for the summer as I'm bored of my Converse and Vans.

What white trainers are currently "in"? (Not that it matters, but I would like to know)

Thank you!

I don’t know much about what’s ‘in’ but I’ve noticed every other teenager is in Air Force Nike and 30-something mums are in vejas round here.

MiddlesexGirl · 07/06/2021 23:53

I quite like the Balenciaga. Not the price point though. And I suspect I'm not their target market 🤣

YoureGoingToHateMe · 07/06/2021 23:59

All the yummy mummy types round here are wearing Veja’s

Catra · 08/06/2021 00:20

I'm 42 and I bought my first ever pair of white trainers yesterday, so I'm watching this thread with interest.

I went for Reebok Club C 85 vintage trainers because they're identical to the ones my mum wore in the 80s and they made me feel nostalgic.

Are they considered "in" or not? I'll keep them either way, I'm just intrigued as I don't have a bloody clue anymore!

MilduraS · 08/06/2021 00:21

@ConstanceMarkievicz

23 year olds arent automatically The Last Word. They can be far too slavish in the brands they will/wont wear. It can be like a uniform, the dictated brand. By 30s/40s people interpret trends through their own lenses thankfully
Excellent point. Recommending Balenciaga, Chanel and Hermes suggests it's more about the brand and its status than the fashion. I may be biased against the Balenciaga ones- they remind me of the hi-tec trainers my dad used to wear with thick sports socks and shorts, so embarrassing. The Saint Laurent ones aren't bad though.
Rejoiningperson · 08/06/2021 00:24

Stan Smiths look good I think if we are older than 30, they are really comfortable and they still sell by the bucket load so they are ‘in’ with many people! That low sneaker look is still quite stylish with dresses and jeans. People over 30 are not going to judge the make of your trainers! But the overall look.

Flambola · 08/06/2021 00:29

I work with a lot of younger women (18-21) and I think their clothes and shoes are ugly, to be honest. I wouldn’t want to dress like them.

Flambola · 08/06/2021 00:30

I’m sure they think the same of me though but who cares.

Jakarta · 08/06/2021 00:59

Well I’m young (early twenties) and still wearing my Reebok club C 85 🤷‍♀️ Also, they’re not white but I am also wearing New Balance 327 trainers.

Nike Air Force ones are really nice but I don’t own a pair because I have large feet so in my size they look too bulky/masculine.

The Balenciaga’s or Adidas Ozweego just don’t look very nice in my opinion, harder to style and I think will date much faster!

BruisedPear · 08/06/2021 01:01

No not at all about brands, not all white sneakers are the same.
If you like obvious in your face logos then go for the Chanels, if you like a classic trainer with a worn look go for the Saint Laurent especially if you have a narrow foot or common projects. If you want a little bit of luxury that is super understated go for the Hermes as only someone who is a true Hermes fan and up close to your feet would know that they’re crazily expensive or designer. Air forces are good but they are heavily logoed and wear terribly, they start to crease from the first wear.

I’m not saying younger people have the authority on fashion far from it. All these shoes however vary in style, budget and are more importantly not trendy! they’ve been around for years and are worn by all ages hence why I suggested them. Whereas the Balenciaga and Fila are only a couple years old and seem to have fallen out of fashion already.

Next time be a bit more open minded people have different budgets and tastes and I have never ever seen any 20 somethings wearing Hermes sneakers far too understated more like 40+

Jakarta · 08/06/2021 01:10

People over 30 are not going to judge the make of your trainers! But the overall look.

I’m in my twenties and I agree. Even though Stan Smiths are not as ‘on trend’ they’re such a simple, easy to pair shoe. I wouldn’t think it was weird if someone was still wearing them as they’re largely inoffensive. Whereas, imo harder to pull off some of the current trendy shoes - the overall look is more important as you say

Perching · 08/06/2021 01:21

I have Onitsuga Tigers
They are ridiculously comfortable.

Rejoiningperson · 08/06/2021 01:27

@Jakarta Thanks! Although it has made me realise how old and not on trend I am... Blush

I asked my very on trend teenager and he wouldn’t be seen dead in anything but Air Force Nikes or knock off brands that look like expensive brands (which I don’t get at all but that’s me... ) and are very colourful. Also apparently the shoe and the clothes have to follow certain rules. Hair also. He looks great though!

Well, some of the sights I see people our age in balenciagas for one I'll happily stick to my Stan Smiths.

Stan Smiths are a classic trainer. Veja look good and are ethical.

I am not interested in trends though. Too old for that!

HelenHywater · 08/06/2021 05:52

My teens are all in Air Force ones.

I went to oxford street on Saturday (the novelty quickly wore off...) and every bugger was in white trainers and summer dress. Lots of vejas, adidas and converse.

I think it's time to start wearing something else now. I might start a ballet flat resergence. Having said that, I do like these

IjustbelieveinMe · 08/06/2021 05:55

I am waiting for Axel Arigato trainers to go in the sale ( I am in Australia, they are very expensive here).

Bagelsandbrie · 08/06/2021 05:58

@MiddlesexGirl

Air Force 1’s or Jordan’s 1’s from Nike are good at a lower price point

The world has gone mad if this is considered a lower price point!

I agree. £90-100 is a lot of money!
sandgrown · 08/06/2021 06:09

Which are the best “cheap” brands for wide feet please .

winched · 08/06/2021 06:13

I might start a ballet flat resergence.

I feel like ballet flats are the new heels? Grin for when it's not hot enough for strappy sandals and not cold enough for boots.

Where you'd wear heels, wear flats.
Where you'd wear flats, wear trainers.

HelenHywater · 08/06/2021 06:17

@IjustbelieveinMe the ones I linked to are Axel Arigato. Expensive here too.

samthebordercollie · 08/06/2021 06:24

The Air Force One definitely looks trendy. I'm still in Stan Smiths, but that's because I'm 55 and comfort is more important than style!

Yes! I like the clean 90 all white ones here:

NotMaryWhitehouse · 08/06/2021 06:58

@Serpenta

Me looking at the Balenciaga trainers. Those are some ugly clumpy shoes. Such a reasonable price thought Grin
SO ugly 🤣 you'd have to pay ME £725 to wear them!
