Any hairdressers? Orangy roots!

So I was quite blonde anyway but with dark stretched roots so thought I'd to blonde all over. I used high lift from Sally's and 9% but the roots are a tad orange! Any advice?? I've tried purple shampoo on dry hair. I was going to try 12% on the roots tomorrow if anyone can advise if this will help?

The brown looks lovely, it's much nicer with your complexion. There's no green Hmm

@roughrug

"Paint me as a villain"

Christ you love a bit of over dramatics, it's Mumsnet not Les Mis.

Calm down and take your negative energy elsewhere, think your job is done here 👍🏻

Hi OP- I think you did a great job.

I have done my own hair for years after many an expensive and disappointing hairdressers experience.

If it does wash off and have a khaki tinge then go for a light golden brown to pop some of the warmth back in that was stripped when it was bleached.

If you want to go back to a brighter blonde you will need to do it in two stages next time because the developer in dyes is not enough to lift it enough. However, you have to be careful not to overlap the hair during the initial bleaching stage or it could snap.

Once you get the hair to a light yellow (inside of a banana skin) then you can wash it off and tone it. You need to leave it on long enough to process through orange and then easter chick yellow stages to the light yellow.

I rate 'colour freedom' toners as they are not harsh on the hair.

Personally -I think you have the colouring that would look amazing with auburn hair and the upkeep for that is a doddle.

Hi OP. I I used box dyes for a long time and it was but the roots were an issue
What worked for me was my hairdresser’s suggestion of drag roots. Google it. It’s a great effect and it lasts for ages so would probably work out the same price as several box dyes you’d have to use otherwise.

@ohthejoy21 great minds
@mn81987 init! This post is crazy, some absolutely ridiculous advice! If you can't afford the upkeep, don't have the look! Like I said a good hairdresser would advise a compromise towards your budget. Let's hope the op's hair isn't green after her dark box dye!

@Bluntness100 in your opinion... not mine...my professional one
And my professional opinion is you are rude, very rude!
I taught/teach ( although only very occasionally) had a salon, now changed career because of the nastiness in the business, hairdressers have a reputation for being bitchy, you've just proved what people like myself had worked years to remove, well done!
OP, there isn't much you can do at home to rectify, I think now you need get some Opaplex No.3 ( I think) to help repair any damage.
Not everyone at this time can afford salons but everyone can afford kindness!

@ohthejoy21 olaplex confuses me in the sense that it's pretty new (I think?) but it seems right now that all the advice now is that it's the only thing that will work for a variety of hair situations. What did we do before olaplex?

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 21:52

My hair is not bloody green it's now dark blonde, dry in natural light

Jahebejrjr · 16/05/2021 21:53

I would listen to @ohthejoy21 because I have never been happier with my hair colour since I got drag roots. It solves the root problem and gives some depth to my hair which, because it’s fine, it never used to have. It hardly ever needs redoing.

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 21:57

I want you to tell me where is is green!?! Please it's bloody dark blonde!!

selfieelf · 16/05/2021 21:58

I really like it. Looks what is called posh-blonde

Bluntness100 · 16/05/2021 21:59

Op, your hair looks lovely, ignore the weird poster. Note they write the exact same way as the poster backing them up, odd that?

Anyway, plenty of people bleach their own hair, plenty use box dye. And it’s lovely you prioritised your husband and children over the cost of a trip to the hair dressers.

I’m glad your hair worked out so well. The only green ness is the envy from the poster being horrid and proclaiming to be a hairdresser.

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 21:59

@selfieelf thank you!! Unless I'm colourblind all of a sudden I don't think it looks green 😂🙈

Cross posted, you look fab, great job and well done.

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 22:01

@Bluntness100 thank you so much!! I could maybe understand the hate if I'd come on and started slagging off hairdressers but I love my hairdresser and she does an amazing job but unfortunately doesn't work for free! Xx

Cocolapew · 16/05/2021 22:03

I’m not even sure this person (or persons) is a hair dresser. Just someone goading for some reason.

Genuinely your hair looks lovely. Very natural. You nailed it.

cupcakesandglitter · 16/05/2021 22:04

@Mammaaof you look amazing, your hair looks fab and your two children and husband are very lucky to have such a thoughtful, caring person in their lives ❤️

Haha I noticed that striking similarity!

It really does look nice OP. People are weird and get off on being dicks to strangers on the internet.

Glad it turned out nicely Smile

Your hair looks lovely OP - ignore the weirdos on this thread!
