Any hairdressers? Orangy roots!

So I was quite blonde anyway but with dark stretched roots so thought I'd to blonde all over. I used high lift from Sally's and 9% but the roots are a tad orange! Any advice?? I've tried purple shampoo on dry hair. I was going to try 12% on the roots tomorrow if anyone can advise if this will help?

@AyyMacarena

The thing with that is, it's dsnt tell you the strength of the developer, a lot of the Jerome Russell developers that are included in the box are really strong. Op only needs a 1/2 shade lift then a purple shampoo. This box would be too strong and work far too fast on ops hair she wouldn't even be finished applying the product and she'd need to wash bits off. And it would definitely snap her hair if it touched any the lighter bits. Especially the ends. X

lovescaca · 16/05/2021 00:23

Op just ideas, u can actually dilute ur 30% to 20%. Iv not done it for years tho so youd have to google it x

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 00:25

@lovescaca so using what I used today but with a 12% wouldn't do the trick would it? I'm soo disappointed because like you said it's so close to the colour I need X

Thanks for that 😄

If that's the case, I would buy the items separately as they sell multiple vol developer liquids. I thought the packs like this had different colours that each had different strength?

AyyMacarena · 16/05/2021 00:26

Is that true for extremely dark hair too? I had to leave mine on the full 90 mins.

lovescaca · 16/05/2021 00:37

Nobody really uses 12% anymore because it is so damaging and there's a decent chance you still have the warmth. Lower % with bleach powder is the best bet. U could use the 30% but it would work really quickly and if it's ur first time doing ur hair u want a bit more time to get it done. With bleach it's more about visual timing as everyone hair lifts differently. So once it's on for 10mins take a small bit of the bleach off (just with your fingers) kinda rub the small bit of hair between ur finger and thumb and separate the hair have a good look in good light. U want it to be the same colour as a banana the inside not the skin, this is the colour for Toning to get your hair to the same lightness as the bottom of ur hair. X

If you are using high lift tint, you can just redo your roots, leave it on until they are nearly done & then take the colour through the rest for the last 10 minutes. High lift tint won't damage your hair as much as bleach. You can buy professional toners on Amazon to use afterwards to blend the roots & lengths & also to take away any yellow tones. Look on YouTube for videos from places like Wella to show you how best to do it.

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 08:35

@Nat6999 would high lift lift the colour anymore? X

Watch some Brad Mondo on YouTube. He gives lots of helpful advice.

Mammaaof · 16/05/2021 13:56

@roughrug She was just asking for advice. You're a hairdresser? Not a doctor, relax.

@roughrug

People didn't say you're 'only' a hairdresser, they said you're a hairdresser (which is literally a fact) and that your post was unnecessary and unkind.

I work in branding, I can't imagine popping onto a thread where someone is asking for advice about their new business and saying 'The best advice is... to pay a branding agency. It's taken me over a decade of hard work and networking to be in a position to advise on branding so I'm not telling you anything for free... I'll be looking forward to the comments Smile Good luck!'

I would quite rightly be called a dick if I did so. Because I would have been a dick.

Sodamncaughtinthemiddle · 16/05/2021 15:53

Good Luck OP - I thought the colour was lovely.

flaminjo · 16/05/2021 16:17

I think you're all giving @roughrug a hard time

People; don't mess around with sticking chemicals on your head if you don't know what you're doing

People like holly willoughby has a lot to answer for because we know she doesn't do her own hair with a box dye and yet she pretends she does for money

Rough rug has been very rude, not everyone can afford the hairdressers, and if someone needs help and advice either provide it or move on.

But “I’ve trained years and will not give my knowledge away, you’re all wrong and I know the answer, and it’s going to be soo hard now for you” is unpleasant and unnecessary.

anon12345678901 · 16/05/2021 16:27

But her hair isn't that bad. And your attitude roughrug is completely unnecessary. Not everyone can afford to pay hairdressers prices, something may you should remember with your industry being out of work for many months. Funnily enough it is not just your industry affected and people have more important bills than their hair being professionally coloured.
Good luck OP.

@roughrug 100% agree with you! Sick of people thinking they can just do it themselves then thinking we can magic up 5 hours to fix it when we're already trying to catch up on all our cancelled appointments!
Anyone that's fucked up their hair and wants an appointment for it to be fixed is going to have to wait months now! Not my problem.

mn81987 · 16/05/2021 16:46

@Mammaaof it's not a case of just putting a brown box dye over it! You'll end up with a bigger problem then you started with!
Suck it up and pay a hairdresser!

Bluntness100 · 16/05/2021 16:52

What is going on here? She’s not fucked it up and she’s not got day glow orange roots.
