What jean will you be wearing in 2021?

So I'm seeing everywhere that skinnies are officially out, and pretty much anything else goes this year. Mom jeans look utterly terrible on me. I'm an hourglass with bigger thighs and a bum, and find that mom jeans and the other popular styles that were in the last few years accentuate my thighs and make my bum look saggy and flat. I think I've settled on some bootleg and flared styles but am also considering some ultra wide legged ones that I can wear with trainers and flats. But I do feel like a bit of a '90's skater kid. I'd love a cropped pair of jeans as well, but at 5'3 they can be trucker to pull off on me. I'm loving these styles in general though, so will try and find some that suit me.

A few of the "on trend" styles for this year. What do you think?

I think they are hidious . I've recently lost some weight so will be returning to Low Rise jeans with a lovely belt with a large buckle . They look smart and classic and really suit my shape. I hate high waisted jeans but they have been a godsend when I was bigger .

bert3400 · 27/04/2021 20:24

The second lot of photos are much nicer , I like the last ones (cropped)

Magnificentmug12 · 27/04/2021 20:25

I’m petite so only skinny’s look good on me. Others make me look twice the size and half the length 😂

SunsetBeetch · 27/04/2021 20:26

Gosh, most of them look hideous even on the models. I don't mind the cropped ones and the first pair of flares.

I have just bought some combat trousers though.

NoSiree · 27/04/2021 20:27

I am wearing straight cut. A bit bland and boring compared to your options! But they're my favourite cut.

Where did you buy your combats from?
legalseagull · 27/04/2021 20:30

Last time I wore these I was drinking cider in a park with my mates. Twenty years of waiting for a come back. I'm delighted!!! Pass the white lightening.

AnExcellentWalker · 27/04/2021 20:31

@SunsetBeetch - where did you get combats from!?

ASchuylerSister · 27/04/2021 20:34

@Magnificentmug12 I feel your pain! I have the same issue.

The super long ones will wick up all the water if it’s been raining sounding more like my mum every day

AlmostSummer21 · 27/04/2021 20:35

Personally I think they look hideous on the tall, slim Models. I'd have to take about 3ft off the legs 🤣🤣

I'm hoping to squeeze my lockdown arse & stomach into my old jeans. I haven't had them on in over a year & I don't think I'll have much chance tbh! I'm not quite 5ft, so buying jeans is a bloody nightmare, especially as I'm timber clad!

I really need 3/4 length (to fit me full length) & 'skinny' seems a ridiculous description on me, but definitely close fit. I'm suspecting I'm going to be shit out of luck this year.

Just hoping at least some of my shorts fit!

Frequentflier · 27/04/2021 20:36

Slim and straight cuts. I don't do trends. Have tried barrel and mom jeans but they look terrible on me and great on DD.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 27/04/2021 20:37

At first I hated all of the styles, but they're growing on me now. I'm 5'3 and I find that the bootleg / flare style that go down to the floor and cover my wedge shoes look best as they make me look much taller and slimmer than any of the other cuts. I love the cut of these (not the rips - just the cut) but this style looks terrible on me.

Wow there is enough material on most of them pairs of jeans !
The 1st pair of cropped ones in the second group of photos are nice but I have short legs so most cropped jeans just look like iv stolen someone's shorts Grin

SunsetBeetch · 27/04/2021 20:38

Combats are just these ones. They are nice and soft and comfy.

Unlike others, I'm loving all the new jeans shapes!

It's interesting OP, because like you I am an hourglass, but I find mom jeans so flattering! I do like clothes that accentuate my stomach though, so it may be that. I am getting most wear out of my mom and balloon jeans (which aren't on your list), but look really good. I've got half an eye one some wide leg, but I'm holding fire because I doubt I'll be wearing heels much this year.

I do like those, minus the rips as you say (that's a trend that's overdone now, imo).

I have just purchased a pair of 90s style jeans and am fully embracing my skateboarding teenage self! I love the nostalgia. I know that there will be lots of people who won’t like them, but I think if styled properly and worn confidently, why not?!

Otherwise, I think I’ll mostly be wearing my skinnies tbh. I have one pair of mom jeans that I do like, but feel most confident in skinnies.

Oh interesting. I've never found a pair of mom jeans or balloon ones that have looked good. Just make me look like I have a pancake bum and high thighs with a mum tum. I'm a size 10, but hoping to get back down to a size 8 this summer but will always have a chunky bum and thighs so the straight styles are always so tight in that area and then just look wrong from just above the knee and then downwards.

Marks & Spencer Lily jeans with stretch are my favourite.

Straight leg, nice with a little turn up, not too tight and not too wide. Don't make me look like a sack of spuds like their mom jeans do and only £19.50.

Haha I purchased a pair and indeed to feel like I'm back in high school. I'm still undecided on them. I've currently got 6 pairs of wide and flared styles I bought last week that I'm trying to decide on

I love the first pairs on both sets and would like a link Smile

dementedpixie · 27/04/2021 20:47

I will stick with my mid rise skinny jeans. Everything else looks ridiculous on me

AnyFucker · 27/04/2021 20:51

None of the above Grin

SunsetBeetch · 27/04/2021 20:51

I do remember when skinny jeans first came "in" I thought they were awful, and that I wasn't giving up my bootcuts and skinny flares for anything. So I may change my mind again as I did back then.Grin
