Chin hairs

Not sure where to post this but recently I've had two chin hairs. Thick bristly ones like a man. Much darker than the hair I get on my legs etc which are blonde. I plucked them out when I saw them but why am I getting them? I'm 33.

Age:)

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 15:36

I didn't know this would happen! Does it happen to lots of women?

Enjoy just having two. Wait til you get to 50. Tweezers are your friend.

fairynick · 27/04/2021 15:37

I’ve had facial hair from about 18, tried plucking waxing threading creams etc. I now shave my entire face everyday like a man, and my skin feels amazingly smooth, gets rid of all the fluff on cheeks as well.

Sheepareawesome · 27/04/2021 15:37

Yep. If it helps, by your mid forties they will be white.

Sunnyday321 · 27/04/2021 15:39

Have a feel about when you are sat down watching the tv , have a pair of tweezers at the ready , and pluck !

Elouera · 27/04/2021 15:43

Your options are:

  • check its not a hormonal issue firstly
  • bleach
  • wax
  • pluck
  • laser/IPL
  • electrolysis
MrsTerryPratchett · 27/04/2021 15:44

When they are too short to pluck but you can feel them there... aaarrrrggggghhhhhh.

Synthesiser · 27/04/2021 15:55

Mine started at that age too. I'm 50 now and have more. I use an epilady and tweezers

Mylittleponysuperfan · 27/04/2021 16:05

I get them and was told its a side effect of my coil
I'd rather have hairs than another baby so shave them off everyday

Ducksurprise · 27/04/2021 16:06

This, fuck me it drives you insane.
JuicyMcJuiceFace · 27/04/2021 16:08

Don't get too despondent though. I'm 49 and have never had a chin hair yet

Synthesiser · 27/04/2021 16:09

Beware of ones that are longer and darker than normal fuzz but not bristly enough to feel.

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 16:16

I had no idea this happened at my age. I've seen older women with chin hairs and assumed it was related to the menopause.

check its not a hormonal issue firstly

Wonder if it could be hormonal. I was having a light period every two weeks for a few months. I saw my GP and she booked me in for a smear test which came back as normal. This month I had my first normal period in some time, just 5 days of bleeding in the month with no bleeding in between and it was much heavier than when it was happening every 2 weeks. I've come out in spots all over my face and have these chin hairs!! I am going through a lot of stress right now which I thought was probably the cause of the weird periods and now I'm growing a beard.

I'm 54 and have 8 of them! And my eyesight had deteriorated so I can't see them!

LookToTreblesGoingTreblesGone · 27/04/2021 16:19

It's an age thing. I started off with a couple at around your age. Now my morning routine involves applying the tweezers to the dozen or so that appear EVERY DAY.
If I didn't have tweezers....

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 16:20

My boyfriend found the second one. God.

niceupthedance · 27/04/2021 16:21

Make sure you check under your chin too :(

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 16:22

I don't know how he managed to find it between all the fricking spots. I'm a mess. I don't even want to know about under the chin.

I have found my tribe Grin

I'm using tweezers and hair removal cream but it might cone to a point where electrolysis or some other expensive beauty salon treatment.

Purplewithred · 27/04/2021 16:25

Don't worry, when you are older they will go grey and not show so much. You can wait till they are longer and curly and can enjoy pulling them out while watching TV/in important Teams meetings etc

LordOfTheOnionRings · 27/04/2021 16:27

I have PCOS and have bloody loads and i'm only 29 :( Get some good tweezers.

foxyroxyyy · 27/04/2021 16:27

I'm only a year older than you and I've been dealing with this shit for over 20 years now. Get a magnifying mirror and some slanted tweezers. That way you can have a feel and a look and get rid nice and quickly. It's distressing but just find what works for you and try not to focus on it too much.

Also- when I have less dairy and carbs I rarely get them. But I love dairy and carbs so.....Sad

sleepyhead · 27/04/2021 16:28

I think I was in my early 20s when I first though "wtf have I grown an eyelash out of my cheek" Hmm

They've very, very gradually got worse (pushing 50yrs) to the point where I probably have a dozen or so at various stages of growth on my chinny chin chin. I'm very good at plucking them out with my fingernails if I have a spare few seconds.

They're white, probably not particularly noticeable to the casual observer, but it drives me nuts if I can feel one so out it comes.

I feel like it'll give me a hobby at least in old age (the first thing my mum said to me when she was in hospital after an accident was "go and get me some tweezers from the shop love").

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 16:30

I don't know if this thread has made me feel better or worse but thank you fellow hairy chin-havers.
