Chin hairs

Not sure where to post this but recently I've had two chin hairs. Thick bristly ones like a man. Much darker than the hair I get on my legs etc which are blonde. I plucked them out when I saw them but why am I getting them? I'm 33.

Found my tribe too! A really good place to pluck is using the visor mirror in the car with the sun at a certain angle! Just outside my home after work is best for me.. Sometimes my husband has seen the car but wonders what I'm doing in there... Mine seem to be worse on one side..

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 27/04/2021 18:31

@Sheepareawesome

Yep. If it helps, by your mid forties they will be white.
Nope, I'm mid-forties and covering the greys with hair dye, but the witchy chin hairs are still resolutely jet black and wiry as fuck. Sorry, OP - just get tweezers stashed everywhere. I swear they grow half a cm in an hour just for shits and giggles 😭

@Miseryisabutterfly We often say that the disadvantage of a same-sex relationship is 2 x menopause but the advantage is that we both understand the need for Chin Vigilance (I'm the same - always inspecting her lower face too Grin)

@ThreeLittleePigs "Chin Vij" for short Grin

Miseryisabutterfly · 27/04/2021 18:42

At least you’re in it together @MrsCalypsoGrant 😂

torquewench · 27/04/2021 18:43

Give it another 10-15 years and youll find that your pubes need less attention than your chin ...

I had one/two pre-children and then a couple of months after giving birth to my DC1, I looked up because something sharp kept poking me and realised I shared Hagrid's genes for a beard. I lady shave mine off :(

Disneyblue · 27/04/2021 18:58

I get loads and am 32

Tehmina23 · 27/04/2021 19:20

@ThreeLittleePigs I really think that you should check with your GP why this is happening- for example whether you have PCOS or a similar condition that needs treating.

I'm 44 and so far touch wood don't have stray facial hairs, my sister & one of my best mates don't either (best mate has had an early menopause too).
But another best mate has stray facial hairs caused hormonal problems that meant she struggled to conceive her child.
Yet another friend is generally hairy on her face purely because she is very dark haired & it's been a constant battle since a young age to depilate her face & arms etc.

So your stray facial hair could be harmless & just normal for you, or could be a symptom of a health problem- best to get it checked out.

My older colleague who has a lot of beauty treatments recommends threading btw.

takemetothelakes · 27/04/2021 19:28

PCOS here and I could definitely grow a respectable goatee if I left it long enough.
I bought a facial epilator (Braun face spa), some good tweezers (tweezerman) and a small magnifying mirror.

Supersimkin2 · 27/04/2021 19:30

Get them lasered out while they’re still dark. Laser doesn’t work on white ones.

Hohofortherobbers · 27/04/2021 19:31

Oh yes, the bristly chin hairs, I am often stroking my chin checking for my regrowth, I bought one of those springy things and roll it over my whole chin regularly, it takes out even the teeniest ones, I'll see if I can link it

ThreeLittleePigs · 27/04/2021 19:33

I'll try and get checked out as it's a new thing and because my periods have been a bit all over the place. I've got the skin of a teenager right now with spots everywhere and I've had hair loss (on my head) which I've just read can be a symptom of pcos. I have gained weight recently but it was intentional as I had lost a lot of weight in recent years. I'd put everything but the intentional weight gain down to stress, but maybe it's more than that. However, it also sounds as though chin hairs are pretty common for some women so maybe it's just my age!

Lol at ‘chin vigilance’ 🤣
OP you’re lucky you got to 33 before this happened!
A combination of very dark hair and PCOS means I have tweezers stashed next to every mirror !

excelledyourself · 27/04/2021 22:51

I'm late 30's and have had one on my chin for a good few years. Sometimes when I tweeze it, it disappears for weeks (to the point I'm missing the satisfaction of a good pluck), and other times, like now, I pluck it on Sunday and can feel it coming through by Tuesday.

NeedCoffeeToSurvive · 27/04/2021 22:56

I'm 25 and I get one either side of my chin, started calling them my whiskers! I just pluck them with some tweezers when I noticed them, thankfully it only seems to be those 2 at the moment.

userxx · 27/04/2021 22:57

@MrsTerryPratchett

When they are too short to pluck but you can feel them there... aaarrrrggggghhhhhh.

So frustrating!

JaceLancs · 27/04/2021 23:10

I started with odd chin hair mid 30s
I’m now 57 and have at least a dozen of harsh black wiry fuckers - plus a bit of a tache
I pluck the outliers with tweezerman tweezers quite often (every 2-3 days)
Scissor job on the tache then bleach - I’ve tried waxing and threading but seems to make them more obvious when growing back

bellsbuss · 27/04/2021 23:20

Love this thread , mine are like cheese wire and I have to pluck them everyday now. I do enjoy a good pluck but the stubborn ones are bastards.

Miseryisabutterfly · 27/04/2021 23:25

Has anyone else ordered new tweezers off the back of this thread? 😂

Enough4me · 27/04/2021 23:30

I use a Lumea once a month and pluck a few most days. They just annoy me by existing.

Miseryisabutterfly · 27/04/2021 23:31

@excelledyourself 🤣
