Chin hairs

Not sure where to post this but recently I've had two chin hairs. Thick bristly ones like a man. Much darker than the hair I get on my legs etc which are blonde. I plucked them out when I saw them but why am I getting them? I'm 33.

PCOS here too. I've had mine since I was 15. Joy. Tried all sorts over the years and now have the jml flawless facial hair remover and just give my chin a quick going over each morning while I'm cleaning my face.

MrsCalypsoGrant · 27/04/2021 16:31

I had PCOS for years through my twenties and never had a chin hair...PCOS vanished post-children in my late thirties, chin hairs started in earnest virtually the next day.

I'm now 45 and my partner and I (also female) are always snooping round the area, Shavata tweezers at the ready. We refer to this as Chin Vigilance Grin

@MrsTerryPratchett

When they are too short to pluck but you can feel them there... aaarrrrggggghhhhhh.
We call these ‘fosters’ 😁

@Sheepareawesome

Yep. If it helps, by your mid forties they will be white.
Dear Lord I hope so.

By your early 40s they will have invited all their spikey little friends round. I own 4 sets of really good tweezers. Bathroom, my bag for going out, bedside table, downstairs by my chair. Practically a full beard here.

3peassuit · 27/04/2021 16:58

I find the springy thing invaluable for the pesky hairs. I do every morning religiously.

FindingMeno · 27/04/2021 17:00

I have two and it's a bit of a challenge to pluck them out between two fingers gripping with my nails.
Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose and have to go on the hunt for tweezers that go missing faster in my house than biros do.

Earlybirdmissedtheworm · 27/04/2021 17:07

I have one and it's been sprouting for a good few years, as its only the one and periods are like clockwork I've put it down to being one of those things and not considered hormone issues (I'm 31).
I pluck it when able to grab it but tbh it doesn't bother me.
In lockdown I left it so I could see how long it could get.. the answer was LONG.
Glad I'm not the only one

Monkeytennis97 · 27/04/2021 17:09

@Synthesiser

Beware of ones that are longer and darker than normal fuzz but not bristly enough to feel.
Yes this was how I became aware of my first one... now have about 10, all black. Late 40s. Pluck them out once a week.
notacooldad · 27/04/2021 17:10

I have mine threaded every two yo three weeks.
It's an amazing feeling just after they've been done!

saraclara · 27/04/2021 17:13

Always, ALWAYS check your reflection in profile, in the mirror. I live alone, and I never see them if I look straight on. They're sneaky like that

Doghead · 27/04/2021 17:18

Happens to us all I'm afraid. One of the joys of getting older😱 Wait until you spring a wiry 1cm one overnight!

doctorhamster · 27/04/2021 17:19

I'm early 40s and I recon I could grow a full goatee if I put my mind to it.

ArcheryAnnie · 27/04/2021 17:20

I wish I could count all of mine!

And as for the moustache - wait until you get to menopause. I managed a very fine Tom Selleck number during the first month of lockdown. (And then we went onto zoom and I had to shave.)

sunflower1201 · 27/04/2021 17:28

I'm late 20's and I've been getting these for years, absolute pain. The worst is when you get in the car and look in the visor thing and can suddenly see them 🤣 now I always carry tweezers

NeverTrustaRabbit · 27/04/2021 17:38

I hope to god I'm never in a coma ....I'll wake up as the bearded lady. DP just wouldn't notice/care. I just hope I've got DD trained so she'd wax/thread my face whilst I'm out of it.

Those chin/ lip hairs just appear overnight....long thick and luxuriant. I'm even getting them on my cheeks now. My beautician whisks them off whilst I'm having a facial.

I've got a Phillips Lumea and find that if I use that after a good defuzzing by the beautician that keeps the hairy little beggars at bay!

Rina66 · 27/04/2021 17:41

I use tweezers - but sometimes they will not be pulled so....
A Browser - that just shaves everything off and helps with the ones that can't break through the skin, those bumps really irritate me
Finally my Phillips Lumea - I've just started using this on my face, seems to be working 🤞🏼

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/04/2021 17:44

Utter bane of my life, hormonal, PCOS not even quite 40 yet

TheDogsMother · 27/04/2021 17:48

The curious thing is that you can go from nothing to a magnificent long hair glinting in the sun. It happens overnight.

Ariannah · 27/04/2021 17:50

I got my first one at 28 and since then have acquired another half a dozen. It’s just a result of ageing unfortunately. I pluck them out but wish I could afford electrolysis to have them permanently removed.

FindingMeno · 27/04/2021 18:12

They are satisfyingly tough to pull out.
I almost want a little round of applause.
Pp is right, they soon come through white and gleam in the sun.

CatCup · 27/04/2021 18:15

Magnifying mirror with a light will help track the buggers down!

Iknowtheanswer · 27/04/2021 18:24

Morning routine - check chin, pluck hairs that have appeared over night, brush teeth. It's second nature to me.

I'm always amazed how they're not there at bedtime, but appear by the morning. And when you do pluck them, they're ridiculously long. Like 10 times as long as they looked on your chin.

Miseryisabutterfly · 27/04/2021 18:30

I love chin vigilance @MrsCalypsoGrant 😂 and that you’re comfortable letting your partner go at them!

I’ve had them since about the same age as you op. 37 now and they only get worse 😭 I suspect I’ve either PCOS or am going through an early menopause. My hormones are fecked.
