Chin hairs

Not sure where to post this but recently I've had two chin hairs. Thick bristly ones like a man. Much darker than the hair I get on my legs etc which are blonde. I plucked them out when I saw them but why am I getting them? I'm 33.

I had a single chin hair since I was about 25, one wispy black hair. Post 30 it's invited a couple of friends, some white that can hide from the tweezers. I've always had a tache. Sad

ItsSnowJokes · 01/05/2021 08:37

And they grow literally an inch in a minute. You check in the morning and feel nothing but by lunch at work a giant one has sprouted so you have to carry emergency tweezers with you everywhere.

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 01/05/2021 08:40

My Philips Lumia deals with these nicely.

HappydaysArehere · 01/05/2021 09:10

I was told by someone who lectured on beauty at a college and another who did electrolysis that I should never pluck hairs as they grow back thicker. I was told the best thing was to snip them with scissors.

KillingMeDeftly · 01/05/2021 13:24

I think it's a myth that plucking makes hairs grow back thicker. Otherwise all balding men would be plucking their heads in hope!

I have this (I have PCOS). I’ve started getting them lasered (was a bit of a nightmare when the clinic was shut during the last lockdown). I had been tweezering / dissolving but then I started getting hairs on my neck which I can’t see well enough to deal with.

Laser doesn’t really work on white or blonde hairs but is meant to be great on dark hairs and fair skin. I now have fewer (but I do still have some) and my moustache is almost completely gone.

Get a stand-alone magnifying mirror. This will be your friend as you age. You can see any straggly hairs and any rogue eyebrow hair.

Anonmousse · 01/05/2021 17:25

My slanty/straight tweezers (and magnifying mirror) are my friend when I get a chin bristle. I was NOT HAPPY when DH borrowed my said tweezers for boning fish once!!Angry

sleepyhead · 01/05/2021 17:56

Anyone got a recommendation for magnifying mirror?

Hormonal changes.

Plucking and the Lumea are my weapons in the fight against my incipient ladybeard

I’ve got the smaller standing SimpleHuman one, it was about £99 when I bought it, ludicrous I know but it’s paid for itself when it comes to eyebrows, ‘tache and billy goat moments.
sleepyhead · 01/05/2021 18:51

at the idea of 100 quid for a chin mirror. Bet it's amazing though.

I like the idea of one with lights. Are the cheap knock offs just rubbish do you think?

I'm happy with my No7 illuminated mirror. I can see both dark and light hairs with the magnified side. I do t always need to have ur lit up. I paid a fiver from Face book marketplace about 6 months ago.

AnnieSnap · 01/05/2021 22:43

@Wearywithteens

I pluck my chin more than my eyebrows Sad
🤣😂 me too!
Anonmousse · 02/05/2021 00:06

@AnnieSnap
And me. My eyebrows are much more well behaved than the 2 or 3 sneaky chin bristles!!Grin

2 or 3? You haven’t lived yet! 😂🤣

PersonalAssistantParent · 02/05/2021 08:24

I've got a simple human one and a Boots one. I use the Boots for putting on makeup and the Simplehuman to assess every mm of my skin for imperfections. Grin

Tealvelvet · 02/05/2021 10:02

In addition to my chin hair, my nose hair is getting out of control.

I don't think I could cope with that! My Boots mirror is enough for me!!😂

FurrySlipperBoots · 02/05/2021 10:49

@Tealvelvet Oh God, mine too! t's starting to protrude from my nostrils! I'm officially turning into my dad

Really don't know what to do about that, as I stop short of plucking my nose hairs out!

Sorry to tell you but you are going to have to go for the pluck!!
It kills!

Tealvelvet · 02/05/2021 11:03

Ok hate to say this I had to buy a nose strimmer - I could not face plucking arghhhhh this getting old thing is a nightmare!!!

LoisWilkersonslastnerve · 02/05/2021 11:22

I wax mine, is this a bad idea? Everyone on here seems to pluck. HelpConfused

notacooldad · 02/05/2021 11:25

Just do what needs to be done!!!
Sometimes I have a combination of waxing, threading and plucking all in one session!
