Chin hairs

Not sure where to post this but recently I've had two chin hairs. Thick bristly ones like a man. Much darker than the hair I get on my legs etc which are blonde. I plucked them out when I saw them but why am I getting them? I'm 33.

I've had mine since 21
I have to check my chin at least twice a day

Mine are caused by PCOS though.
Tweezers are your friend.

mylovelydd · 28/04/2021 07:27

All you people complaining about chin hair - I found one growing ON MY FUCKING EAR! Shock

Beat that! Sad

userxx · 28/04/2021 08:37

@Beelzebop

Does anyone else notice the white ones are coarser? They cause havoc with my skin!

Man whiskers.

Happymum12345 · 28/04/2021 09:40

The best place to spot them is in the car mirror. It can be a little embarrassing plucking away in full view of the local supermarket shoppers, but needs must!

bluetongue · 28/04/2021 09:48

@Miseryisabutterfly

I love chin vigilance *@MrsCalypsoGrant* 😂 and that you’re comfortable letting your partner go at them!

I’ve had them since about the same age as you op. 37 now and they only get worse 😭 I suspect I’ve either PCOS or am going through an early menopause. My hormones are fecked.

I have loads as well as the odd stray hair around my nipples (I know I’m not alone here). Just got some blood test results back, including hormones and apparently all levels are completely normal. Just one of those things I guess.

Once I had my tweezers confiscated by airport security in Hong Kong. Embarrassingly I begged to have them back but the security guard was sticking to his guns. I spent the rest of the trip looking for another similar pair with no luck.

MadameKali · 28/04/2021 10:07

I can never understand why my family don't point them out. Even just to take the piss. I'd rather know they're visible than suddenly catch a glimpse of one long enough that I could lassoo strangers with it.

I have the "hilarious" combination of thick black ones and weedy white ones (which make me look a touch Dumbledore)

Shining a light under your chin allows you to see them in glorious high definition for plucking purposes, but is not for the faint hearted.

trevthecat · 28/04/2021 10:10

I'm early 30s and have this issue. I pluck, constantly 🤣

iforgotyourenotbono · 28/04/2021 10:14

30 and inundated with the little bastards - I have an epilator and tweeze. Honestly though the hairs on my neck are now mental and even worse than the chin! The ones that won't pop out to be pulled but look like little black dots are the worst!

PleaseReferToMeAsBritneySpears · 28/04/2021 10:15

@Marylou62

Found my tribe too! A really good place to pluck is using the visor mirror in the car with the sun at a certain angle! Just outside my home after work is best for me.. Sometimes my husband has seen the car but wonders what I'm doing in there... Mine seem to be worse on one side..

I actually keep some mini tweezers in the car 😂

ThreeLittleePigs · 28/04/2021 11:04

I'm going to invest in some stronger tweezers.

FurrySlipperBoots · 28/04/2021 14:18

I discovered my first a few months ago. I'm 32! It was several inches long and black, a great huge long whisker! I don't know how I can not have noticed it growing! I haven't had another since but if boob whiskers are anything to go by there'll just be another mega one pop up overnight instead of a gradual growth.

I suppose the bright side is it is very satisfying plucking them out!

missbunnyrabbit · 28/04/2021 18:31

I've been getting several since about 24.

AnExcellentWalker · 28/04/2021 19:24

I recommend Tweezerman. Or, the little tweezers that you get in a Swiss Army Knife. You need tweezers with a fine end, not a sharp point but the tips should be as flat as possible. TKMaxx occasionally have Tweezerman in the beauty section at slightly more sensible prices than elsewhere.

KillingMeDeftly · 28/04/2021 19:58

Haven’t RTFT but if the hairs are dark then try a Lumea - it’s honestly life-changing. No need to buy a top of the range model - the cheapest will do the trick just as well.

DeadCertain · 28/04/2021 20:03

I have one of those hair removing spring things which is brilliant - but I do have "peach fuzz" as well as the rogue bristles!!!!

SarahBellam · 28/04/2021 21:17

My favourites are the ones under your chin that you can’t feel one day and then you wake up the next morning that they’re an inch and a half long. I feel like Mr Potato Head sometimes.

AnnieSnap · 28/04/2021 23:15

@Purplewithred

Don't worry, when you are older they will go grey and not show so much. You can wait till they are longer and curly and can enjoy pulling them out while watching TV/in important Teams meetings etc
This is true, but if they are anything like mine, by the time they go grey, they have thickened up to resemble small ropes 🙄😂🤣
AnnieSnap · 28/04/2021 23:19

@torquewench

Give it another 10-15 years and youll find that your pubes need less attention than your chin ...
So true. Mine is sparse and going grey 😮😂🤣 I’m loving this thread. It’s good to laugh about it!

I have two long black ones that grow out of my cheek, I caught a glimpse of them once and have to remember to check for them regularly now, as they are quite far back and I can’t see them unless I pull my cheek forward. Also, the ones around my nipples seem to be spreading across my chest! Beat that!
Pomped · 28/04/2021 23:31

But HOW and WHY do they grow so quickly???

It’s like nothing....nothing....nothing....nothing.....1cm hair!

I strongly recommend using a smartphone torch if your smartphone has one
huuuuunnnndderrricks · 01/05/2021 07:51

I pluck mine , I actually enjoy the challenge of getting them! Little feckers ! I'm 46 and have one a week on average ! They are sooo long!

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/05/2021 07:56

So much worse at the moment on sunny mornings... The horror. I had laser removal on upper lip and I'm planning on electrolysis for my chin. It can really effect your confidence. At least masks are covering us for now!!

wizzler · 01/05/2021 08:10

As op have said, the twiddly thing from Amazon is a godsend.

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 01/05/2021 08:12

Must search for the twiddly thing upthread. Can people really see them?! I've been hoping not!!
