Nude tights still a no-no?

I'm assuming yes and I hate the thought, but I'm struggling to find a leg covering to go with spring dresses, boots/trainers that isn't heavy opaques.

Do I just give up and go with the opaques?

If you've found this page in search of tights that have been tried and tested by fellow Mumsnet users, you might find our guide to the best tights useful. Hope this helps! MNHQ

I am in my 50s & am blue I'm so pale and I have never once in my life worn a pair of use tights. It's almost at phobia levels f jur me. I can safely say I will never ever wear them
But I appreciate that doesn't solve your problem.
I use dove gradual tanning moisturiser on my legs & arms in summer

UnreasonablyPissedOff · 23/04/2021 08:22

Nude not use - auto correct

Snapbacktonormality · 23/04/2021 08:23

Depending on your style I think sheer black tights (or those cappuccino coloured ones) can look good with boots.

Snapbacktonormality · 23/04/2021 08:24

But yes, second what @UnreasonablyPissedOff says, gradual tanner is the way to go

MotherOfGodWeeFella · 23/04/2021 08:34

Are they? No one told me.

Honeywort · 23/04/2021 08:34

Obvs a personal choice but I’m quite fond of nude fishnets with a dress and boots . They are somehow not the same as ordinary sheer nude tights but even out skin tone and are weirdly just warm enough too,

NameChangedForThisFeb21 · 23/04/2021 08:58

I wear them and I’m in my 30s but have leg vein problems which make small
areas of my legs look bruised and purple and i’m self conscious.

I have researched it though.

Avoid “gloss” tights they look awful and make your legs look fat. Even if you have tiny legs. Matte tights have to be very sheer and in a credible skin tone to pass and not look dated.

My favourites are Pretty Polly “oiled” tights or M&S 7 denier. I don’t give a single shit what anyone thinks about me wearing nude tights. Most people don’t even know.

oneglassandpuzzled · 23/04/2021 09:00

Good nude tights are just that: nobody notices them. Just don't get glossy ones.

20viona · 23/04/2021 09:00

Always a no in my eyes nude tights are a crime!

wizzywig · 23/04/2021 09:00

No one told me nude tights are out! How could they forget to tell me?!

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 23/04/2021 09:22

I know rather a lot of rather glamorous 20-somethings who wear them, so had assumed they'd been "out" for so long they're now back in.

Yes, that's what sparked my question - seeing very young women out and about in them.

Only on MN. Wear them just don't tell anyone on here and you'll be fine Smile

What is the point of them? Can you go no tights?

EnglishRain · 23/04/2021 09:33

I always wear nude tights at work. Would feel weird not to.

Eivor · 23/04/2021 09:36

Oh I always wear them, oops...

I like them at this time of year when black tights depress me but it’s still too cold for bare legs. Plus, my legs are always bruised, cut, covered in hair or shaving rashes, pale and generally unsightly 🤷🏻‍♀️

LadyEloise · 23/04/2021 09:39

I'm shivering in bare legs and dodgy fake tan.
I hate nude tights.

CornishGem1975 · 23/04/2021 09:51

I wear them for work or a night out. I cannot bear the feeling of clammy bare feet in enclosed shoes 🤮and also, I get blisters if I don't. I'm quite happy to forsake fashion for comfort in this case.

LaCerbiatta · 23/04/2021 09:52

The hate for nude tights is imo the same as this idea that women should sleep without knickers - a really bizarre British quirk! 😀 Never heard about this anywhere else!

Mumsnetters hate nude tights. They are still worn in the real world.

@SavingsQuestions

They are warmer than bare legs, especially if you work in an office with arctic air conditioning.
MissKeithsNeice · 23/04/2021 09:57

Nude micronets. Trust me.

bottyg · 23/04/2021 09:58

nude fishnets are better imo

ContinuousMonotoneBeep · 23/04/2021 09:59

Is there a logic behind why covering you legs with fake tan is more acceptable than covering them with tights?

I wasn't no aware it wasn't allowed on Mumsnet!

tofuschnitzel · 23/04/2021 10:03

Who is going to care what you are wearing on your legs, OP? If you want to wear nude tights then wear the bloody tights. Where do all these ridiculous rules come from? No one cares in real life, or would even notice you were wearing them.

It seems bonkers to choose not to wear the tights and then suffer with feeling cold or uncomfortable all day. Just wear them for goodness sake.
