Has anyone bought from Chanel at Selfridges Manchester Exchange?

I'm threatening to buy a 2.55 Reissue

My nearest stockist is Manchester Selfridges Exchange Square. Has anyone bought there recently? (lockdown notwithstanding) What was your experience?

If anyone has opinions on the 2.55 itself I'd be glad to hear them too

I know a lot of it is black! I need to add more colour

Don’t suppose anyone here has Chanel ballet shoes and could let me know if you think it’s worth the £££? If my feet ever stop being swollen (yay pregnancy ) id love to get a pair...!

How much are they now? I have 2 pairs & love them, just bought my usual size.

I have just stumbled across this thread and I have enjoyed it so much! I would absolutely adore a Chanel bag but without a lottery win it won’t happen. And even if it did, I think I’d be too scared to use it.

Also so nice to see a handbag thread without benches/charity being mentioned!

I completely agree it’s from the 14C collection and it’s in caviar but the sheen on it gives it a lamb skin appearance. Don’t find many fabulous reds, so I got super lucky. I think it’s my favourite x

@MummyJ12 I am not surprised it is your favourite. Especially if it has an decent sheen to it. The right red is so difficult to find. I have 15B rect mini. Gets lots of compliments but has more of an orange undertone. It's my only Chanel pop of colour. Glad to have it though. Wear your goodies in good health X

Any reason why so many flap bags in black? They have so many other lovely colours

@Ireolu lots of people don't like them, I think they are quite casual and slouchy which, I suppose is why I like them so much.

I have small and medium boy bags, two woc's in teal and dark burgundy, a crossbody chain around bag in tan and a top handled black caviar bag which is absolutely bombproof so I use that most days.

I'm coveting a Deauville though, I would like a pale coloured one but am worried about colour transfer.

I have never wanted a 'classic' so to speak but I think they are utterly beautiful bags. Different strokes and all that.

I'm too fat to fit into any Chanel clothes sadly ( size 16/18 ) but luckily Zara and M & S are doing some amazing textured ( tweedy ) jackets with a total Chanel vibe this spring in gorgeous pastels so I've treated myself

Wagsandclaws, i have the dark denim deauville, no transfer issues. Chanel tends to be good in that respect.

I have the flat ballet shoes in beige with black toes and they’re as soft as melted butter. Beautiful things but the leather soles are very impractical and have led to me (accidentally) skidding across and into many a room
I’m a shoe size 37 normally but have just looked and they’re a 37 and a half.
I’ve also long craved a deauville and in fact was looking at them a couple of years ago in Selfridges Manchester. And that’s why I really like them there as it was white and the lady helping me said I shouldn’t buy it if I ever wanted to use it as the colour was so hard to keep clean. I keep on looking for a grey or plain black colour like @MummyJ12 or @WowIlikereallyhateyou but having looked at the website now, they don’t seem to be classic plain colours to make me want one enough. Shame!

Great question! I suppose it’s a result of my indecisiveness, but also because the black classic flaps are so timeless. I have two jumbos in black caviar because I couldn’t choose between the gold and silver so ended up with both. I have to say I use the one with silver hardware more. Jumbos should always be in caviar IMO. The medium classic flap had to be in lamb with ghw because that was always seen as “the ultimate classic Chanel bag”. Oh my, it’s lovely in the lamb skin but so high maintenance and delicate.
After all of this, my favourite as I said upthread is the red one! I agree, I should have more colour. My next purchase may be a metallic 2.55. But I can start having fun now I have collected what I think of as my core collection bags.

I am loving this thread. After a couple of years of barely being able to afford any clothes I am now trying to build a nice wardrobe but am at sort of Reiss and John Lewis prices, not Channel! But I love the enthusiasm and joy you are all discussing these bags with.

I do have a question: does anyone have a recommendation for bag repairing? I have a wonderful slouchy John Lewis leather bag that I picked up in a sale years ago. It is so practical and I've taken care to regularly clean and leather protect it but it really needs new handles; they are worn and grimy! I'd love to have them replaced.
