Has anyone bought from Chanel at Selfridges Manchester Exchange?

I'm threatening to buy a 2.55 Reissue

My nearest stockist is Manchester Selfridges Exchange Square. Has anyone bought there recently? (lockdown notwithstanding) What was your experience?

If anyone has opinions on the 2.55 itself I'd be glad to hear them too Smile

So who’s going to be the next “volunteer” to take this heavy burden on and keep the Chanel thread running Grin

MrsCalypsoGrant · 20/04/2021 13:18

@Justfivemoreminutesplease Thank you 😊

I suspect there are going to be a few candidates for the role of Person Responsible For Keeping Chanel in Active 😀

@Justfivemoreminutesplease @MrsCalypsoGrant oh I would so love to be the person who gets to go next .. sadly mat leave and demanding baby means I'm unlikely to be able to go 'big' shopping for a while so sad. Most of my purchases atm are coming with an elastic waistband - such is the glamour in my life atm!
Let us know when gorgeous new bag has its first outing!!!

Giftwithpurchase · 20/04/2021 14:19

Ps such a cute dog! Dogs and Chanel - the best combination Grin

MrsCalypsoGrant · 20/04/2021 14:38

@Giftwithpurchase

Oh I remember those days! My youngest is 8 now. I wore my single flap over my shoulder yesterday & it felt so strange, I've become so used to cross body bags due to needing freedom to hold a small hand or push a pram Smile

Thank you re: the dog, she's just turned 2 & is a complete darling ☺️

Harrods has 10% off for Rewards members this weekend (sits on hands) .. usually all manner of stuff included - most brands except Chanel, LV and Dior usually Grin

Thewiseoneincognito · 23/04/2021 14:33

Yes Chanel Manchester is a great boutique. The staff are very friendly and can be very funny unlike other stores, cried many a laughter tear in there! As someone said before you have to go early in the morning when the store opens to book a slot in the queue although during the week it’s usually quiet. I Haven’t been at the weekend yet but I can imagine it will be busy.

Devlesko · 23/04/2021 18:25

I had no idea what a 2.55 was.
This is a whole different world to me. Booking a slot in a queue for a handbag.
It's lovely to hear your enthusiasm, I'm very low end for accessories, and not into material possesssions, wealth, or spending much on stuff.
So not envious, but love all your enthusiasm. Thanks
It's a very interesting read.

Inmypjsagain · 23/04/2021 18:34

Beautiful bag and lovely pup too 😍

Have you taken it on any outings yet?!

Don’t suppose anyone here has Chanel ballet shoes and could let me know if you think it’s worth the £££? If my feet ever stop being swollen (yay pregnancy ) id love to get a pair...!

Giftwithpurchase · 23/04/2021 19:25

@Inmypjsagain yes I have the classic flats in beige with black toe cap and all black. They are my go to flat in the office - so have been gathering dust haha. They look absolutely lovely and the quality is amazing but in my opinion they are very delicate - largely because of the leather soles. So I tend not to wear mine outside (I'm aware how crazy that sounds!) and tend to just have as office shoes. However if you get a rubber sole protector they are much more durable. I have this on my black ones and wear those a lot more. The beige are just so pretty I just want to keep them in great condition! I think they are £590 now (I remember when they were £250 a pair cry)
I would say they come up pretty small - if you have a wider foot I would recommend getting the wide fit which they also do. I'm usually a 37.5 but take a 38. Now post baby I'm too scared to try them on as reckon my feet have grown!

My little Chanel bag collection ..

Has anyone bought from Chanel at Selfridges Manchester Exchange?
Ireolu · 23/04/2021 19:42

@WowIlikereallyhateyou nice collection. The front row in particular are pretty cool. What season is the silver ?WOC or clutch bag... if that is what it is?

Keep wondering about deauville. Always think maybe in duty free. Don't think we get money off goods in duty free anymore though. Enjoy you bags!

WowIlikereallyhateyou · 23/04/2021 19:48

Ireolu, thankyou! The middle one is a silver mini flap and to the right of it is a gold clutch, it is one of my older ones, early 2000’s can’t remember season, but still comes in useful. I love the deauville for holidays, so useful.
Duty free is just that, but now only on non classics, i was lucky enough to get a choice of 2.55 colours and leathers in 2010 at heathrow when you could buy one duty free, so i bought my black and cream calfskins there and then.

MrsCalypsoGrant · 23/04/2021 23:50

@Giftwithpurchase They never include YSL either - many's the time I've threatened to buy a Sunset bag for the points then read that Saint Laurent is excluded grrr!

@Thewiseoneincognito I can just imagine what you mean about the laughter - discussing SLG the SA & I had a giggle about my old indestructible branded John Lewis purse that will not die Grin

They have been crazily busy ever since the shops re-opened apparently, I had to book a slot to get into Selfridges itself then a second slot at Chanel...

MrsCalypsoGrant · 23/04/2021 23:55

@Devlesko I'm glad you've enjoyed the thread even if it's not your sort of thing Smile (beware hanging around too long though, many of us started with the same attitude & look at the state of us now WinkGrin)

@Inmypjsagain Thank you, she is a darling dog 🐾

I haven't taken it out yet (haven't been anywhere other than the school run & Lidl Grin) but I've bought two new dresses to wear with it (my whole wardrobe is navy based so now I need black based clothes!)

I have spent time playing with it & enjoying it though. That's half the pleasure ☺️

@Inmypjsagain I have got a pair. I think you need to size up maybe half a size and personally I would rather buy the Russell and Bromley quilted flats as I've got a pair and they are far more comfortable!

Congrats on your new bag OP it's a stunner!

Loving seeing everyone's bags and the Chanel bag chat, I thought it was a swearword on mumsnet Wink

I'm off out into Bristol today and I'm taking my new Chanel 19 with me, I'll post a pic when I'm ready for any fans of the 19. I've got a cream, green and Indigo one as I love them so much Blush

MrsCalypsoGrant · 24/04/2021 10:36

@Wagsandclaws Hello, welcome & thank you!

Please do post pics, I'd be very happy if this became a Chanel enjoyment thread Smile
