Has anyone bought from Chanel at Selfridges Manchester Exchange?

I'm threatening to buy a 2.55 Reissue

My nearest stockist is Manchester Selfridges Exchange Square. Has anyone bought there recently? (lockdown notwithstanding) What was your experience?

If anyone has opinions on the 2.55 itself I'd be glad to hear them too

@PlatinumBrunette Sorry, I didn't answer your question. I think it's the medium I want, although I'm sure they told me that the medium 2.55 is the same as the large Classic or something like that 🤔

@MrsCalypsoGrant I do hope you get it ❤️ I know them by different size references - 225, 226, 227 and a rare 228 (or rare in my day lol!) I’m tall, so can easily manage the 227 which I think is now called large? About the size of the large classic. Not as large as the maxi classic.
Confused yet? 😂 Get Googling so you know what to find. They’re restricted to maintain exclusivity.

@PlatinumBrunette Yes I can see they've restricted to maintain exclusivity but it's at the point where you can only buy them in London or Manchester now - although if they are offering a courier service it's to be considered how far that might stretch! When I spoke to them last year they said Chanel restrict supplies to the three stockists too, although they always have the 2.55 in.

I've watched a couple of YouTube reviews on Chanel bag sizes & am now more confused than ever I suspect this is something I need to see IRL to judge IYSWIM

I don't use mine everyday but I use it quite a bit. I'm a SAHM so it isn't practical in the day but if I'm going out for dinner I use it, or if DS is in nursery I might use it just because.

I think I've got confused- I have the classic with interlocking C's in caviar with silver coloured hardware. I adore it so much. It was a combo of inheritance, a work bonus and a bit of F* it, I'm treating myself.

Day to day I use a Mulberry, Anya Hindmarch or a backpack (toddlers!) But the Chanel is something else.

@MrsCalypsoGrant what's your budget? I've just been down a rabbit hole online of pictures and articles from people saying they've been using it for x number of years etc. Also I didn't realise how much they raise their prices every couple of years!

I shop at the one in Selfridges, Manchester reasonably regularly. The staff are lovely and really helpful. At the minute they are operating an appointment system - I went on Wednesday not realising this but was able to make an appointment for an hour and a half later

@Twilightstarbright I'm in a similar boat - my kids are older now (8 & 13) but I work for myself from home so I'm not out & about in an office for example. I think mine will be an every day bag that I don't use every day IYSWIM

@thiswaythat Chanel told me they don't sell bags in Harrods any more, which surprised me. I bought a lovely Chanel scarf from there just before the first lockdown, the staff couldn't have been nicer. Polite & professional without being sycophantic. Enjoy your visit (I love the food hall too!)

It certainly wasn’t busy - the quietest I’ve seen it in years with just a few inside although the rest of Selfridges was fully open. They had a SA at the entrance with an iPad booking people in and making appointments so I’d advise you to get there early, book an appointment and then do any other shopping you want to do while you wait

Ohhh so exciting! My nearest store is Sloane Square so no experience of selfridges... but the bag is gorgeous! I’d say aged calfskin more hard wearing than lamb skin- I think you can get a red 2.55 in grained calfskin at the moment but it does change seasonally. Just see what stock they have in store! I have a few chanels and I find the 2.55 a great every day bag- lighter than the classic and less in your face Chanel if you know what I mean?

I bought my dream bag the small classic flap in lamb skin on Monday at the Bond Street store and I didn't have to question or wait long at all! I called ahead and they told me they had a few in stock but I had been waiting so long I dragged my DH in the same day the shops opened

@Inmypjsagain I know exactly what you mean about the 2.55 being less in your face. I have this one (if the photo works!) so I do love the interlocked CCs & the gold tone but I want something that will look as closer to Chanel with hers (not that I'll ever exude that sort of charisma regardless of bag )
