Is anyone else obsessed with Katie Jane Hughes on Instagram?

I literally love her so much. She is so talented and every single look she does is just so beautiful!

Her tips are also amazing and have completely changed my make up game (eg. Eyeliner for hooded eyes, using smaller brushes for applying face makeup, cleaning up mistakes, using colour further up on the lid so that it doesn't disappear when you open your eyes, although I still can't do her brows!), I love her use of texture, the way she uses brushes in different ways, I purchased the awesome Weleda Skin Food because of her (as well as several other products). And her look is just such a refreshing change to the 'matte, cut crease, false lashes at all times' look that is still quite popular on social media.

Plus I love the new 'Katie Jane Hughes Academy' thing she is doing now where people copy her look and she will show them and tag them etc.

I am desperate for her new Spectrum brush set but don't think I will be able to justify 160 quid on it!

And plus, she just seems like a really cool person!

I promise I'm not her Mum or anything 😂 I was just wondering if anyone else loves her as much as I do? Grin

Each to their own but I don’t understand where these women actually wear that kind of makeup? If she walked down the street looking like that everyone would laugh!
Going out clubbing ok (which obvs isn’t happening atm) but where else?

** Another vote for Bailey Sarien - I only discovered her the other day and binge watched about 5 of her vids - she’s beautiful and I love how she applies her makeup - and true crime is another interest of mine so it’s doubly good!

No sorry. There isn’t a look on her IG page that I would want to wear... primarily because of the weird, greasy looking face. I am not particularly an advocate of matt looks but it’s possible to look fresh faced and dewy without resorting to that. She is very beautiful though.

I would wear 90% of them day to day, liner, colour, shimmer, smoky eyes. Regularly wear coral eyeshadow or black liner or a mix of colours for work
The thing is, it's Instagram and her platform to show her work. Showing barely there makeup for every post isn't going to work

Yes ikwym QueenPaw - I’m probably just boring! I agree with others that the wet look skin is off putting - she does have some more subtle looks but the skin detracts. It’s certainly eye catching though!

Never heard of her. Looked her up. Why is her face always wet or does she have really oily skin? Mine is very dry so I don't think I'd follow.

I'd never heard of her so had a look on her Instagram- she is an absolutely beautiful lady but I think her make up is not great tbh.

The blusher looks like my 3 year old applied it, lipliner so thick outside the lips and obvious, those 'individual haired' brows with what looks like another set of brows painted on underneath, obvious white patches under eyes and so so shiny.

Or maybe I'm just well out of touch with what the latest 'look' is!

The oil slick look is very current. Not my cup of tea. Think Hollywood filter by Charlotte Tilbury but she does have great tips. I like to see people experiment like this. Don’t want to see make up artists that can only do a smoky eye and nude lip. She also looks like Frida from abba in some pics.

I know that she is very shiny in some of her photos, but I don't think she looks like an 'oil slick' at all in that photo that RoundedTum posted. I think that's a nice amount of glow. I much much prefer that sort of skin than a very matte, flat, look.

Actually she looks like that in every photo so the lack of versatility is a bit boring... and there are lots of looks in between that and very matt but we don’t see any of those demonstrated.

KJH has almost 600k followers on Instagram so she doesn't need to come on to MN Style and Beauty to get a handful more.

The base isn’t much different in the photos but the actual makeup, like eyeshadow looks etc is very different

Weird thread. I think it's just instagram makeup isn't it. IG I fluencers do what makes them money and makes a striking image to attract engagement. Whether it looks good in real life (unlikely) or she even does that in her real life is another matter.

I don't get the fan girling over instagrammers, they literally get by on pretending you're they're best mate and you're helping them make a living when they're perfectly well off and have more money than you do. It's mad. Seeming nice in some vacuous DM's that take 5 seconds and are scheduled in for an hour each afternoon is very profitable if it means someone thinks getting one means she 'deserves' for them to buy overpriced brushes swipe up and buy whatever she's been given for free for a video.

It's not a jab at her specifically but it is a business formed on creating exactly how you think OP. You can google tips for hooded eyes anywhere, overlining the lips also. She looks to have had botox in the cheeks at least and frankly I (having just heard of her and watched a video) can't see her real skin in the after, she's covered in product and she looks nothing like when she starts with nothing on. It isn't a great effort if she is claiming the natural look. It also isn't a great look if she isn't, just looks smeared and a bit deranged and dirty at times.
