I literally love her so much. She is so talented and every single look she does is just so beautiful!

Her tips are also amazing and have completely changed my make up game (eg. Eyeliner for hooded eyes, using smaller brushes for applying face makeup, cleaning up mistakes, using colour further up on the lid so that it doesn't disappear when you open your eyes, although I still can't do her brows!), I love her use of texture, the way she uses brushes in different ways, I purchased the awesome Weleda Skin Food because of her (as well as several other products). And her look is just such a refreshing change to the 'matte, cut crease, false lashes at all times' look that is still quite popular on social media.

Plus I love the new 'Katie Jane Hughes Academy' thing she is doing now where people copy her look and she will show them and tag them etc.

I am desperate for her new Spectrum brush set but don't think I will be able to justify 160 quid on it!

And plus, she just seems like a really cool person!

I promise I'm not her Mum or anything 😂 I was just wondering if anyone else loves her as much as I do? Grin

*you don't have to like the same things OP does. You don't like KJH's make-up, that's fine, but you don't need to resort to making fun of her attire.

LunaHeather · 25/02/2021 09:14

@Morgan12

No she really does look like she could be my mother. My mum looks about her age and she is 54. So I don't wish, I know she does. Because I have eyes.
Yes, under that make up she could be any age so I thought a lot older because otherwise....why?!

Please tell me I'm not the only person whose first reaction was to think of the Bride of Wildestin look?

I hope the Tube isn't full of this look in summer. I'm going to mistake a woman for a drag queen soon.

LunaHeather · 25/02/2021 09:15

But if she's got a great career from it, then yay, more power to her.

Crimblecrumble1990 · 25/02/2021 09:20

I did not realise I had hooded eyes until this thread and I'm 30!

Always wondered why you couldn't see the eyeshadow I had on my eyelid unless I put it on up to my eyebrow...

dragona · 25/02/2021 09:30

She is beautiful! Her account makes me feel happyGrinNot sure why people are being so nasty and bitchy, I'm sure some jealousy comes into play! I am following her nowSmile

IAmJackieWeaver · 25/02/2021 09:34

Oooh no. Way too shiny and her eyebrows look odd.

lubeybooby · 25/02/2021 10:06

She's very pretty and her skin is clearly amazing under the shininess but I prefer a slight glow to full on shine so wouldn't try to recreate her looks for myself. All power to her though. Love the pics where the shine is muted just a tiny bit.

3dogdnorth · 25/02/2021 10:19

No thanks, not my cup of tea. I follow Donna May make up and she does some good tutorials, very likeable too!

TheFormidableMrsC · 25/02/2021 10:21

She's great, I've followed her for ages. Inspirational!

BarbaraofKent · 25/02/2021 10:30

Sorry you are getting such a rough reception here, OP. It's like being picked on at school, everyone wants their pound of flesh.

It's OK, I've been on MN a long time! Smile

I have let a lot of comments go, because I do feel its not 'trolling' to critique what how someone does something and I get that not everyone likes the same thing. But some of the posts on here are just plain nasty and uncalled for.

I agree as well that perpetuating ideas about oily skin being 'dirty' is horrible as well.

Well OP I have to say, I read this thread, had never heard of her before so looked her up on instagram, I thought she has very greasy skin and I wonder what age she is and commented that here. So I went back on instagram and now that I have searched for her she keeps popping up in my suggested and I keep clicking on it and now I can't stop watching her !!!!!

KarensChoppyBob · 25/02/2021 14:36

Still baffed about the fuss created of this perfectly acceptable looking woman experimenting with wearing makeup.

We all did it at 6/7. Tis' not a life skill.

QueenPaw · 25/02/2021 15:13

@KarensChoppyBob except if you're an actual qualified makeup artist. It's not like she's some random off the street that's done a few years of makeup just on herself. It's her job

I agree OP. People are falling over themselves to say how dirty her face is, that it looks like an oil slick, etc. It's really vile behaviour from anyone, let alone adults. I thought we'd moved away from the belief that greasy skin or blemishes were a sign of a dirty face, but apparently not. KJH's skin is perfectly normal.

Other make-up artists get better receptions here. I am sure that if you posted about Lisa Eldridge, no one would be asking if it is a PR thread, or LE posting, or her mum posting on her behalf. Instead, we have grown women making fun of normal looking skin and someone's sodding jewellery of all things.

DietrichandDiMaggio · 25/02/2021 16:47

Fair enough if many on here are not aware of the glass skin trend that I believe started in South Korea at least a year ago, and has slowly started to spread to European and American brands. But to dismiss it as looking like an oil slick and dirty is pretty poor of you. It's ok to not like something, but please don't perpetuate the myth that shiny or oily skin is dirty. It's normal skin. Make up brands have been moving away from overly matte looks for quite a while now, in favour of more natural looking skin. Apparently that trend hasn't reached Mumsnet.

I agree that people shouldn't say that oily skin is dirty, but I don't think most people have said that, they just don't like they excessively shiny look. However, you come across as condescending when you suggest that people who don't like it are not aware of the glass skin trend, when many will be aware of it as a look, but still think it looks awful.

QueenPaw · 25/02/2021 16:56

I think the other thing is that skin that looks oily isn't always. Mine looks oily but is totally dry to the touch (see pic) because it's an effect of using tretinoin
I've no makeup on and no moisturiser and it feels like skin but looks oily despite me having really dry skin! So anyone who is using prescription retinol gets the "tret skin" effect
