Hello all Toasties , a new Toast thread for us to discuss clothes and life..

Here's to new beginnings and a more hopeful Spring when we can get out and wear our lovely things.

Morning all, sorry I've not been posted in a while; I've been following the thread but haven't bought any Toast (or anything else!) in a good while. I got so many things in the great JL reductions that I haven't even worn yet so had to put the brakes on!

However, been stalking both JL and Toast this last week and have noticed that JL have some new Toast things and that this morning the Toast website is temporarily unavailable! Does this mean a sale?? Or new stock??

dudsville · 23/03/2021 08:06

The toast website it's temporarily down...... fingers crossed the sale might be coming!

dudsville · 23/03/2021 08:26

I've now had a coffee, how funny finger, you know what we do first thing of a morning!!!

AFingerofFudge · 23/03/2021 10:17

@dudsville yes definitely!

While we all wait for Toast news, can I ask how you all store your jumpers/cashmere over the warmer months?
This is my first year of buying Toast knitwear and I've gone in deep so have a number to store - any tips appreciated.

Here are the Ashley jeans in prune.. really like them . like the wide legs they are slightly cropped on me and no stretch at all.. I still.needto lose a little covid lard on waist so they are a little snug atm , but these size 12 fit fine else where I think (Sorry about rumpled tee!! -Francis in cumin)
I think its new stock, if anything for website being down. JL already has a few new bits .. Toast didn't have a sale until.end May last year

The site has been down for quite a while now. Too long for them just to be adding new items? Fingers crossed. Laska - I like that colour combo of prune and turmeric - v stylish!

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/03/2021 16:45

Lovely new stuff on website.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/03/2021 16:47

Website's had a makeover too.

Saurus72 · 23/03/2021 16:52

It is lovely but I have to say they’re really annoying me now! This is completely gorgeous but why is it £245?!? A touch of silk but mainly cotton. I would pay half that - so definitely only sale shopping for me 😔

Saurus72 · 23/03/2021 17:02

www.toa.st/products/amalfi-print-shirt-dress-indigo-pine Would help if I included link 😬

Saurus72 · 23/03/2021 17:25

This is also absolutely lovely but with my hips not for me, I would look like a ship in sail www.toa.st/products/stitched-masa-shibori-cotton-skirt-deep-blue

My bank balance is relieved, but sad too as it’s truly lovely.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/03/2021 17:42

I agree, that skirt is lovely it no way I'm paying that. Quite like a skirt they did two years ago which I already have.

The site no longer recognises my password or email address so my Wishlist is lost as is my purchase history. I've emailed them about it.

ToastCosILoveIt · 23/03/2021 17:45

That dress is lovely too @Saurus72 but again, silly prices. Have they not noted that we are in a pandemic and going into a recession, plus greater working from home and fewer holidays for the foreseeable?

Countmeout · 23/03/2021 17:52

I also couldn’t get logged in. I bought the sleeveless Ikat top (well I may have done) there was only S left and it took me so long to get through checkout and have a chat re log in issues I’m waiting with baited breath for a cancellation. On the plus side once I checked out as a guest it must have recognised me somehow and it said I was using my Post Pass but maybe that was a fluke. I saw this top ages ago somewhere and really wanted it as it’s the sort of summer top I love.

Countmeout · 23/03/2021 17:53

They must be saving stuff for a big summer sale. Definitely there was a mini sale this time last year

Templetrees · 23/03/2021 18:21

Lovely new website !
Some nice things.
I saw that dress and it is blocked printed by hand using Indigo and tumeric.
I guess the price is in the small batch making and would be something to treasure.
There a couple of dresses I like but I dont really " need" Wink

Saurus72 · 23/03/2021 18:22

@ToastCosILoveIt maybe they’re banking on there being enough people who have wfh throughout and have saved during lockdown. Well, I’m fortunate to be in that position but it’s still a big no from me for a £245 —gorgeous— cotton dress

Templetrees · 23/03/2021 18:28

I think you are right.
There is a real divide ( although am not wfh, I dont have commuting costs)

Conversely people have lost their jobs and businesses.
I really wonder what it will look like when we emerge from this ?

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 18:44

Oh some really lovely new things !!
That Masa Shibori Cotton Skirt !! Such a lovely pattern but I would never ever pay that much ..

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 18:47

It doesn't recognise me either.. Sad

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 18:50

I have a 15% referral code outstanding and a post pass ..I hope that I have not lost those !
Hopefully just teething problems

faustina · 23/03/2021 19:11

There are some really nice new things. I'm finding it hard to envisage wearing spring stuff while it's still so cold though! It puts me off ordering when I know I'm just going to shove a jumper on top of anything
Those trousers are a lovely deep colour @Laska2Meryls

Laska2Meryls · 23/03/2021 19:56

Yes its madness pricing.. maybe they want to appeal to more upmarket types than me.. I am lucky in that I have a reasonable disposable income these days, even though retired , but quite frankly its not 'pay over 200 for a skirt' income..

I was pleasantly surprised today by some of the new stuff in the Seasalt catalogue which arrived in the post , especially the linen.. Very Toast ! and certainly much better price I may have ordered something

OP posts:
Templetrees · 23/03/2021 20:12

I think that they can see that for the foreseeable future people will buy fewer clothes so have gone for high end and sustainable fabrics etc with pricing to match.
Laska I said that to DH -Seasalt have gone a bit Toast Grin
