I do think they should consider a petite range though.

Reporting on my recent purchases.

Annie ecru trousers size 12 -these are crops on me, midcalf perfect fit.
So smooth and flat at the front.

Delave Tiered Linen dress in a small- lovely fabric blue/ black heavy linen, lots of fabric in the skirt so went for a small, fits well on top but can see it would be too small for the larger bust.

Indigo Gansey small -nice neat fit, very short and boxy which is what I wanted.

Flat front denim culottes Ash green size 12
Lightly wider than the Annies and more everyday feel -again perfect fit.

@ilovecherries

Denim coat dress from the winter sale.
That looks gorgeous on you.
faustina · 20/03/2021 14:40

@ilovecherries - I bet that denim coat dress becomes a really useful part of your wardrobe! It looks lovely on you

@Templetree - ah, we have the opposite problem - I love some of the toast trousers but I just know they're going to look rubbish on me because I'm too short! the only exceptions are the ones I can roll up, so tapered, or the Gabi which I always see taller people complaining about.

Glad your recent order was so successful!

We should all have a mass gathering at a Toast shop when they re-open, try on everything, and do a comprehensive guide to how they really fit!

Haha the Gabis look awful on me like I had borrowed those pull up toddler trousers.
Bunched over my tummy and just below the knee.
Not a flattering look at all ! Grin

faustina · 20/03/2021 16:37

they're just below the knee on you? Gosh - I am 5'4 and I roll them up to be a bit above the ankle. We would be a walking advertisement on why they should do different lengths!

ilovecherries · 20/03/2021 17:04

I quite like the gabi trousers. Blush. I’m 5 foot 7. Maybe I need to look more closely in the mirror. I

Im sure they look great on you!

They looked awful on me -like I had grown out of them but thats the point, different things suit and flatter different shapes.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 18:24

@dudsville

Chienloup's comment made me wonder, what is a classic toast shape? All clothes seem to be modelled on the same shaped models. What shape suits toast?
I think quite tall and slim? I have a friend that could model toast perfectly! Sadly not like that myself but i get away with it at 5ft 6 inches. I think if you are an average size you can wear most Toast things. Smaller, length might be an issue in some. Definitely not made for an apple or a pear [ me]
Templetree · 20/03/2021 18:53

Im a tall hourglass drifting towards pearish @Fortherosesjoni70
I think you need tall over pear as the lengths are perfect on me not the Gabis
I would say its trickier for apples with boobs as often the upper part of dresses are cut narrow compared to the skirt so you can end up wearing a tent just to get it to fit the bust.
It would really help to have fewer pictures of models climbing on things and garment measurements.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 18:57

This resonates with me so much @Templetree
I have put on weight and its all in upper arms boobs and tum.
I bought an ink dress via john lewis and its neat on the bust so I am trying to upsize but fear it will be too big everywhere else.
The length are always fine on me.
The white shirt was neat on the bust in a 10 and fine everywhere else. I had to go up to a 12 in it.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 18:59

Also the strangest thing. Its pockets were sewn back to front on the dress. They felt fine when you wore the dress back to front but obviously couldnt be worn that way. Its the first time ever I have had a fault like this.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 18:59

Obviously you cant see this but everytime you put your hands in the pockets they were going the wrong way!

Which dress was it??
faustina · 20/03/2021 19:47

how weird is that! Some new Toast things on JL just now

ilovecherries · 20/03/2021 20:08

Yeah, the denim coat dress is a 10. It fastens comfortably all the way down, but the armholes are really tight. And I don’t have fat oxters!

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 22:39

Toast Garment Dyed Linen Pleated Dress, Ink Blue

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 22:41

It is a beautiful dress. Most say it is generous on the reviews but for me, while it is generous from the bust down, the arm holes were tight and it was a bit neat around the bust. If it was pre lockdown, it would have fitted me fine. The sewn on pockets in reverse, no idea what went wrong there!

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 22:41

I also wish to wear it pinafore style so have ordered the medium.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 20/03/2021 22:42

The colour is absolutely gorgeous.

I reckon Toast will do a mini sale soon.

Gorgeous I got the gingham check version in a medium for the same reason.
ShangPie · 21/03/2021 10:41

Hi Toast-ies (is that the correct greeting? Grin)

Looking for some help identifying an item - I acquired a Toast indigo jumpsuit from a clothing swap (they are permitted where I am, not UK) but it’s not a current style. I can’t seem to find an exact pic, as it has a V neck with 4 buttons rather than a higher round neck or collared style on the pics I have found... any ideas?

Also, any tips on styling would be appreciated - aiming to make it look fab and insouciant rather than looking like a Kwikfit fitter!

ilovecherries · 21/03/2021 16:34

Sounds lovely, shangpie. I don't recognise it, but I do have an indigo v neck jumpsuit from elsewhere. I tend to wear it with the sleeves and the legs turned back/up a bit, a tan leather belt and birkinstock type sandals, with a couple of silver chains and earrings. Which sounds very staid and conventional and I'm sure if I posted that anywhere else in S&B I'd get cries of 'mumsy/frumpy. Sorry'. But I like it!

dudsville · 21/03/2021 19:04

One of my best ever toast sale purchases was the last pair of tattersall trousers on John Lewis site that happend to be my size. I love them so much. I slightly tapered the straight leg (which I do with some of their things) but they are so fun to wear.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/03/2021 19:49

Hello everyone, I've seen something beautiful on the Toast website but it's a bit extravagant in price for my normal budget. How often do they have sales and do they ever do discount codes?
