@AmethystMoonShine - it's brilliant isn't it.- not just because they're being worn on real people, but also you can see all of them - not just a very pretty arty shot which doesn't necessarily show you how something fits or hangs! eg a cardigan tied around someone's neck which they had as the only photo for something - it was silly!

AmethystMoonShine · 13/02/2021 13:23

@faustina I agree, I think Toast focus too much on arty shots, maybe forgetting the idea is to show off the clothes! I think they’d sell a lot more if they adopt this approach. Especially the outfit ideas, I am great at styling in my head... but the reality is somewhat less successful Grin

MrsCat1 · 14/02/2021 12:07

Hello lovely Toasties. I'm looking for some advice. Does anyone have the Mira jumper? And if so, what is the fit like and most importantly how is it wearing? I used to buy a lot of Toast jumpers but gave up due to excessive pilling. I'm now tempted again but don't want a jumper that will look old before its time. Thank you.

AmethystMoonShine · 14/02/2021 12:51

Just noticed Alexandra Tolstoy wearing a Toast shirt and the infamous crochet garment on Instagram. Very her style... I think I like the shirt but I wouldn’t suit the crochet top.

ScottishMouse · 14/02/2021 12:59

@MrsCat1 I have the Mira. I sized up to a medium. I am usually a small in Toast jumpers, and while not fitted, it is definitely a bit slimmer than some styles. I could have got away with the small, but I like my jumpers to be a bit oversized.
In terms of pulling, yes, it has pilled more than some of my other Toast knitwear. I hate pilling, but for something special I am willing to deal with it with a cashmere comb or fabric shaver. I hope that helps a bit.

MrsCat1 · 14/02/2021 13:03

@ScottishMouse Thank you. That's very helpful. Food for thought.....

ScottishMouse · 14/02/2021 21:12

After watching the Instagram styling thing the other day and admiring the fairisle jumper on the presenter like many of you, I added it to an otherwise very boring John Lewis order and picked it up today. I kind of thought it wouldn’t suit, and was already planning to return it given that I also bought the Placed Check top from Toast this week (beautiful!). But...it is so lovely on. I sized up and that was the right decision. It is a small bit itchy at the neck, and I am not a fan of itchy wool, so I am still deciding whether to keep it or return. Really can’t afford both that and the top, and spring is surely just around the corner (she says looking out at the snow!), so I should return it. But it’s so lovely. Argh, why did I watch that thing on Instagram??

Countmeout · 15/02/2021 04:39

It is lovely @ScottishMouse.

ilovecherries · 15/02/2021 15:54

I've just done some virtual Toast shopping to cheer myself up - £1200 in my shopping basket. Haha, that'll be a 'no chance', then!

Also just wanted to say, because I had some very kind and very much appreciated PMs the last time I posted, that my lovely dad died last week. It wasn't a good experience (well these things never are, but there isn't much positive that I can say about it at all, except for being glad that it is finally over for him).

applecatchers36 · 15/02/2021 16:17

So sorry for your loss Cherries 💐, hope it is release from any suffering for your Dad and wish you some peace for the coming months 🙏

Countmeout · 15/02/2021 16:37

So sorry @ilovecherries. Sad news. Take care of yourself 💐

faustina · 15/02/2021 18:25

@ilovecherries - I'm so sorry for your loss - sending you another toast themed hug (perhaps with stripes? Or rustic linen?) And it won't take the experience away, but I think you should buy at least some of what's in that virtual shopping basket. New clothes never made anyone feel worse xx

AmethystMoonShine · 15/02/2021 21:05

I’m sorry to hear about your Dad @ilovecherries, it’s sad news. I agree that maybe you could treat yourself to even one or two items from your basket? You deserve it x

Laska2Meryls · 16/02/2021 08:52

Love and strength to Cherries in this sad time..

I am not on Instagram so haven't been able to see the Toast styling.. is it generally available even if one is not a subscriber?
I pounced on a random green Mira which appeared (and which has been oos and I have been stalking for a while in hopes) this morning. I also treated myself to the far too expensive striped Francis tee ( but which I know that I will wear to death). Used the 15% code that Toast gave me after the refund mix up of a couple of weeks ago so that dulled the pain a bit..

I watched it through toast website - www.toa.st/magazine/spring-layers-toast-styling-conversations.htm

ToastCosILoveIt · 16/02/2021 11:28

So sorry @ilovecherries, if you are able, do treat yourself to something nice. When my Father died some years back now, I had a little purge on some designer lamps and still get so much pleasure out of them and think of him when I think about why I bought them.

I have revisited the Toast styling video and find it so useful to see how the clothes look. I am breaking in my Solovair Dora boots today by wearing them around the house and then for a short trip out using the car. I have struggled to get them on as the ankle opening is tight but wearing them around the house, I can feel them loosening up.

I wish I had the money to dress exclusively in Toast.

AmethystMoonShine · 16/02/2021 15:03

I’ve just had a spot of luck trying @Laska2Meryls’ trick of enquiring about stock of past sale items. I regretted not buying the navy blue fine corduroy tiered shirt dress in the sale. I got the dress in ginger and wear it loads. I emailed and they confirmed they had one so called me and I ordered over the phone. I’m delighted Grin

Laska2Meryls · 16/02/2021 15:19

Fantastic Amethystmoonshine . Grin

I have watched the styling video now, was good to see stuff on real people.. was a shame though that the blue wavy dress was half hidden under a jumper.. I really like that , but at the price it is ill be waiting f r the summer sale anyway .. Definitely not going for socks and sandals though whatever they say !!

Ok, this is not in the spirit of this thread, but I have had to have a sharp word with myself. I said up thread that I had bought the fairisle jumper from the Instagram styling video, and also the new placed check top. I have decided that although I really like them both, I am going to return them because I really don’t need them. Browsing and shopping the Toast website has been a lovely thing to do during this crappy time, but when I think about it, I have really only worn two pairs of jersey harem trousers around the house, and one pair of Toast Alix trousers when leaving the house, plus one of a number of Toast jumpers, plus my Blundstones since last summer.
I just did a quick audit of my wardrobe and I own a couple more pairs of trousers, maybe six jumpers, a handful of tshirts, one skirt, and three or four dresses (but I only do dresses in spring-autumn as I can’t wear tights for medical reasons). Nearly all these items are Toast and have been bought over the last 5-10 years. I am a minimalist who appreciates good quality, but I have neither the budget nor the need to keep buying. I also realised that a lot of the items in my wardrobe would bring me so much more joy if I could lose some of the lockdown/perimenopause weight that has gradually kept creeping on over the past 2 years. I find myself buying “just one more” jumper/pair of trousers/dress/etc because I hate how I now look in the things I have. But despite really liking these last two purchases when they arrived, after a few days, and a number of trying on sessions, I have realised that I will feel the same about them too soon enough - lovely items of clothes, but they don’t make me feel any lovelier wearing them than anything else I have got.
So, the new plan is...lots of browsing, but very little buying. Only if I have an occasion where I need something (who am I kidding?!), or something old wears out (like the Gabi trousers I had worn out and replaced earlier this year, only to find I can’t fit into them now!). I am going to concentrate on accessories until I shift some weight - I’ll need a sun hat in a few months time, and have only boots or sandals, so would like some “in between” shoes.
I’m not really sure what the point of this post was. Sorry. Using you all as therapy I think. I will continue to follow the thread and enjoy everyone else’s purchases while trying not to succumb myself for a while.

ScottishMouse · 16/02/2021 19:39

Oops, I’ve killed the thread. Sorry, ignore my brain dump.
As you were...

Of course you haven't! Well I am a bit like this. I seem to buy loads and wear nothing. I also watched the styling video. I have to say I didnt really like anything they wore!! [Apart from the presenter-she looked nice] The rest of the stuff looked awful imo.
Fortherosesjoni70 · 16/02/2021 20:04

The tabbard thing made her look like she was from a cast from a vikings re-inaction. The rust alex trousers weren't a nice colour and I am not sure any of the clothes worked with their figures, especially the lady with the dark bob. The dress with the trousers under it looked like an abomination. She just looked dwarfed by it all.
Sorry if it is contrary to what others think.
I do agree that it was very nice to see stuff worn by real woman but I thought the choices werent good.
The wave dress was beautiful but i was so dissapointed they didnt show you it properly.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 16/02/2021 20:08

@ScottishMouse Yes to browsing and very little buying :)
