Hello all Toasties , a new Toast thread for us to discuss clothes and life..

Here's to new beginnings and a more hopeful Spring when we can get out and wear our lovely things.

Here you go, this is the 10: I didn't bother trying on the 12. It is quite fitted at the top but as you can see, flairs out.

I don't think the photos are flattering as it does move with the body and i think it looks slimmer in real life. Also, the denim is stiff at the moment but that will soften up. I am a 12 but busty and you definitely need to size down.

Ah thanks so much - the denim looks great and the blouse is lovely with it.

Thought I would report on a very disappointing Toast delivery, in case it helps anyone considering these particular things.

  1. Alix cotton/linen trousers in cinnamon - was very excited to see these as I am a big fan of the Alix trousers and loved the look of the new colour. In reality, the colour is a little washed out, and I think it would only become more so with washing. A deeper colour would have been so much nicer. The sizing is also different to previous Alix trousers. I have 3 pairs from the last few years, two are size 6 and one is size 8. I ordered these in both 6 and 8. I couldn’t get the 6 past my thighs (which is fair enough, I am really a 10 elsewhere), but even the 8 was much tighter on the waist and bum than last year’s. I measured them against mine and yes, a good size smaller. So, I might reorder in the 10, but I would advise sizing up from your previous Alix size if anyone is after these.
  2. Cotton jersey easy jumpsuit - the fabric is not at all stretchy, so I found this really hard to get on. Again, I tried two sizes, and the bigger one was fine when on, but I felt like I was going to pull it out of shape trying to get it on. It was also not very flattering when on, but might be better on someone with a more boyish shape than me.
  3. Crinkled cotton check trousers - these are the same fabric as the dress from last season, and I think this is my issue with them. To me, the style is more of a spring/summer style, but they are too heavy weight for that. I also think the fact they are lined and therefore quite heavy means they don’t drape well, they stuck out a bit weirdly at the bottom.
It’s probably a good thing for my bank balance, but they are all going back. I also ordered the Fracap ankle shoes, but they are on back order so haven’t got them yet. Does anyone have them? I’m afraid they might look like clown shoes, even though I’m only a size 5.
Anjo2011 · 08/02/2021 14:49

@ScottishMouse

Re the Fracap sandals, I have a pair from last season that are still in the box unworn. Different to the ones you are referring to but in general I find their sandals very heavy and sturdy which gives off a sensible vibe. For my taste I found them to bulky to wear with summer clothes. That’s how i found the style that I had, although they are an extremely popular purchase on toast every year so some people love them.

Laska2Meryls · 09/02/2021 15:25

Thought id brag a bit about my fab Bargain Toast cord dress.. its the same style as the current £150 olive one , but last year's brown slate colour.. I saw one on ebay 2nd hand and had a brainwave about asking Toast if they had any returns in stock .. They did ! £55 and I much prefer the colour on e 😄
I also asked if they had a return of the red boxy linen top from the sale ( which Ioved but sadly returned as was too big) and yes to that as well !.. ( looks better with my blue
linen skirt in the summer but here just trying on over what I already had on(
Yay !!

Fab Laska! What a great brainwave!

@ScottishMouse - totally agree about summer styles in unaccountably heavyweight fabric. I wonder if the designers all live in a very cold place?

Countmeout · 09/02/2021 18:20

Thanks for all that feedback @ScottishMouse. So useful. I thought the cinnamon looked nice but will hold off.
Has anyone bought the linen dress with the sleeves yet in bright olive or ink blue. Interested to know what the colours are like in real life. I know the bright olive will suit me but thinking ink blue more useful but not if it’s very dark.

BerniceBobsHerHair · 09/02/2021 18:47

I promptly bought the pinafore dress having seen it on toastcosiloveit but sadly I don't think it suited me as well.
laksa how did you contact toast about returns - by email or phone as I have a few i want to ask about!

Laska2Meryls · 09/02/2021 19:41

Bernice I used the online chat on the Toast website.. its probably easier if you know the item code ) I already knew the red top one as had ordered previously in a larger size.. I found the cord dress one by googling

@ToastCosILoveIt - I really love that pinafore dress on you - especially how it flares out! It's shame it didn't work for you Bernice

AFingerofFudge · 10/02/2021 20:09

Has anyone else seen this advert on various social media sites and wondered what the heck she is doing? I'm so concerned about her tripping and falling that I haven't considered I should be looking at what she's wearing 😁

applecatchers36 · 10/02/2021 21:32

A finger of fudge is she hanging out a damp tent to dry? 😂 It's definitely an unusual set up to advertise a ? jumpsuit?

Countmeout · 10/02/2021 21:57

It’s probably some high faluting art installation that we are too philistine to understand ( I obviously am chief ignoramus as I can’t spell faluting) .

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2021 18:27

C'mon... its bleedin obvious! She's a HS2 protester in a woodland about to be bulldozed making a bender .. (obvs we are all going to wear our best clothes for environmental protesting..)

Actually to be honest @Laska2Meryls, I have to say I was mildly aware of the background because of the AWFUL jumpsuit print. Sorry if you like it! I am drawn to the ugliness of the print and fit on her.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 11/02/2021 19:05

and i love Toast clothes usually.
The print is ok, just too big for the jumpsuit imo.

Fortherosesjoni70 · 11/02/2021 19:05

Or not for a jumpsuit. It could work on a dress or a skirt but not on me.

Laska2Meryls · 11/02/2021 19:46

I dont like it either!!

Very strange photo.
No idea what it actually looks like as its so wierd and all I can see is it looks too tight particularly on her bottom.
Please go back to miserable, slumping models Toast Grin

Still pondering the panel skirt and cream gansey.
Ive finished another jumper over here Grin

Templetree · 12/02/2021 11:19

The crochet top
No words- its so dreadful and £295 😳

Fortherosesjoni70 · 12/02/2021 17:18

Its nearly sold out!
In all fairness, they probably had about 5 of them!

Fortherosesjoni70 · 12/02/2021 17:20

Yes, very unflattering on her bottomGrinGrin
Fortherosesjoni70 · 12/02/2021 17:22

I actually love the crochet top but seriously nearly £300?

Countmeout · 12/02/2021 17:27

Did anyone watch igtv showing spring stock, was it the styling thingy (sorry words have left me I am tired 😬) that you could take part in. The crochet top featured.
