EU Websites for nice clothes online

I have been stung with the whole Brexit fallout of online shopping in Ireland using UK retailers and it really has made things prohibitive now. I will absorb the extra costs for the things I have ordered in the sales but going forwards I will look to EU websites.

I wondered if anyone had any good ones to share? I like clothes from Whistles / Jigsaw etc generally so anything else of that ilk?

It's all such a pity...

Massimo Dutti is Spanish and & Other Stories is Swedish I think.

Also Cos (Swedish) and Zara (Spanish).

Zalando have lots of different brands.

In a similar vein to Zalando (large selection, free shipping and returns), About You has expanded into Ireland IIRC.

Place des Tendences for all sorts of French brands. Free shipping over a certain amount, free returns, I think.

Nelly and Boozt cover a lot of the scandi brands. Free shipping and returns (I think)

Perfectly Basics (.NL) have low-ish shipping and free returns and carry brands with whistles/jigsaw feel but the price point and quality is higher.

Thanks for posting this OP- I'm also in Ireland and up until last week all my online purchases came from UK retailers. Made my mind up last night need to find new fave shops outside of the UK due to the customs costs passed on to me as consumer and delivery delays

I buy a lot from Bon Prix which is German.

I know @GallopingGreen, it's so awful.
I bought a leather bag from a UK site and paid the full sale price (as in no further deduction from the UK side) it was ordered on the 26th and the money left my account on the 30th. I paid £148.

The bag is due to be delivered to be delivered today and DHL have requested €58 before it can be released even though the bag was bought and paid for pre-brexit.

I will have similar with some boots and some stuff from Whistles next.

So I reckon it's the end of the line of UK online shopping for me.

Sorry I'm an idiot but - don't you pay import duties regardless?

When UK was in the EU they were part of the trade agreement amongst member states.
So this time last year if I ordered the same bag I would have paid £148 + any delivery fees (depending on the company in question - some offered free delivery over a certain spend) and that was it..

Now, I was charged £148 + delivery + €58 custom duty because I am importing goods from outside the EU.

It will have a massive knock on effect

Corte ingles is a (the!) Spanish department store with a full range of brands from cheap for basics to high end. They deliver in the EU - it says 5.90€ for clothes. www.elcorteingles.es

It's so annoying. I was going to treat myself to something from a small U.K. brand, so the item won't be available anywhere else. The item is £185 so based on your experience OP I'd be paying €60 plus for taxes etc plus delivery. I just can't justify that.

I think lots of smaller U.K. companies will suffer.

@caperplips same thing here. I purposefully bought my things in the sales on 29 December thinking that as I had purchased prior to Brexit becoming effective I'd be ok! No such luck.

I have a question- I often buy little things on Etsy from UK sellers- will that be the same? I assume so.

It is a huge pain isn’t it - I’m France based and have found a few sites direct me to their EU website but then the base cost (and delivery fees usually) are much more which defeats the purpose. So I’ll be following this with interest..

@GallopingGreen - same here, I bought deliberately before the 31st and thought that would make a difference but it doesn't seem to..

@anomletteandaglassofwine I agree, it will have a huge negative effect on smaller companies.

On a more positive note : my bag just arrived and I have paid the charge and it was almost worth the extra money

Actually in the interest of being fair, I made a mistake in the original post and the custom duty I paid for a £148 bag was €52.80 not €58 as I said. I was so incensed I got confused

I’ve bought lovely clothing from Australia and America but they postage costs are eye watering, especially Australia. Previously I loaded up on Italian clothes and shoes on every trip. I miss that!

ASOS say that they will ship any order from a EU address from their EU warehouses to avoid extra charges. This was on their website but I have not ordered from them yet

Eek! That's quite worrying as I've three parcels expected from the UK. I had hoped that as I'd ordered before New Year that I wouldn't get hit with additional charges.

They've all been ordered slightly different ways. One was using address pal, another will be courier delivery and the last is from ASOS. It'll be interesting to see if any of them get through without additional duties. Hope so!
