EU Websites for nice clothes online

I have been stung with the whole Brexit fallout of online shopping in Ireland using UK retailers and it really has made things prohibitive now. I will absorb the extra costs for the things I have ordered in the sales but going forwards I will look to EU websites.

I wondered if anyone had any good ones to share? I like clothes from Whistles / Jigsaw etc generally so anything else of that ilk?

It's all such a pity...

Thanks!

Next btw, I see you can choose to have your order sent from next German warehouse. It says on their website if it’s from there it should be fine

That's what I tried to do (not with Next - see message further up) but it was accidentally sent from the UK and I got a surcharge (which they promised to refund) but I still had to spend two hours filling in all the forms to get my goods! To be honest I wouldn't order anything for the next few months until all these teething problems are sorted out.

Following with interest.

I ordered from Made.com and they won’t deliver to Ireland anymore
. Despite having European shops eg Amsterdam they will only ship to site from the UK and the UK branch won’t ship because of Brexit.
I’d love to know how they plan to restock their products, many of which are from the EU but they are insisting that stock can only be shipped from the UK? Part of me hopes it backfires spectacularly on them and they will be forced to only ship from the EU in future!

Similarly Hush, who already pluck prices out of the sky when it comes to converting from £ to € now has VAT charges added too. Bye bye Hush......

An alternative to Made is Bolia, they're Scandi (Danish, I think) pricier but the quality is a lot higher as is the originality of design. I don't know if they've expanded into Ireland yet though.

Fwiw, I'm in the Netherlands and Made seems to be selling as normal so I assume they have EU warehouses but getting large freight to Ireland from here is probably too expensive atm.

I've had a nice surprise as I ordered 2 separate things from Atterley and they deliver DDP and I had no extra charges on receiving them. Plus very fast service so that has cheered me up!

Interesting to hear all the stories and also brilliant to have so many links to new websites / online retailers.

Fwiw I think all these retailers are scrambling after Brexit with no warning really what deal would be done and I am reasonably confident that they will start to sell outside their areas again and without massive extra charges.

This thread is a great idea. The exact same thing happened to me, I bought a dress in the Toast sales in Dec, only to be told by DHL I owe a further €40 on top of price already paid. I couldn't justify it so asked them to return it to Toast, who aren't answering my emails. Angry Gah. So disappointing.

I think comptoirs des cotonniers is based in France, their sales are really good

I’m in Ireland but am plus sized so fear I’ll be regulated to bin bags as most stores recommended so far are for sleek and lithe individuals, not squat barrels

Fear of being naked might be my New Years diet motivation

For plus size items, I've purchased from Navabi, Ulla Popken, La Redoute, Only.com (seems to be the same groups as Vero Moda/Junarose) and Violeta by Mango.

Yours Clothing now have a notice on their .ie site saying that all duties and taxes are prepaid. I've always found the UK site worked out much cheaper in the past, but I'm just glad thy are still shipping here now.

Oxendales also have a notice on their website stating no additional costs will apply-I presume this applies also to Simply Be. As far as I am aware, this is also the case with Next, M&S and Littlewoods.

I'm really going to miss Parcel Wizard. I used to buy so much stuff from ebay.co.uk. Sad

That link above which I had no idea I was inserting is directing to the Only UK website. They also have an Irish one.

Penelope, I just helped a friend find some new plus size brands as she wasn't feeling what was on offer. She ended up buying some casual bits from Almé Paris and some investment pieces from Van Der Nag who are based in Berlin.

Just a brief update on my mattress (I posted earlier in the thread) - they've got back to me to say that there will be no fees to pay on delivery for Irish orders as they've already dealt with it and factored into the price I paid. I'm hopeful that will be the case when in does get delivered! It's eve sleep by the way in case anyone is in the market for a mattress - I bought it because it was the top recommended mattress on Which :-)

Thank you @botemp @theaccidentaleconomist I’m the same accidental, I’m surprised Parcel Motel didn’t send me Christmas cards as I was a very frequent user.. it was handy too in normal times as there was a collection point just outside my office I’m holding out hope they might start with a French and/or German virtual address (as I miss my twice yearly wandering through Sephora Poland and Germany)

I think so. We have a local shop (in Italy) and I do like their clothes. Very good quality usually.

I looked at Boila - thanks Botemp. Its so much more expensive and way less choice.

but getting large freight to Ireland from here is probably too expensive atm

I don’t know why. They can ship on a slow carrier. Made UK had lead times up to three months so we are well used to not having immediate gratification.

Thismustbelove, I assumed that most large freight to Ireland went through the UK and now that equals lots of extra paperwork, twice, so carriers probably aren't prioritising it for now. Pretty sure everything Made makes comes from China by boat to Rotterdam or Antwerp harbour so really shouldn't be that hard to figure out. Hopefully in a couple of months.

Penelope, you can actually order from Sephora France but I wouldn't recommend it, just read the trustpilot and it's entirely in French, as is the customer service. I don't know if it's still the case but it used to be that Sephora was in el Corte Inglés and you were able to order from them through their website and it had all the Sephora stock.

Colis Expat is a French forwarding service but not sure how comparable it would be to Parcel Motel.

Thanks for this thread.

I can confirm that Ugg.eu ships from The Netherlands and ASOS ships from Berlin (unless you are on the UK site obvs). I got both just as easily as before.

I did check the fine print and googled like hell to see where their warehouses were before ordering!

There are direct freight ships from Cherbourg to Rosslare. They could bypass the UK entirely if they wanted to....

I've just ordered a dress from ASOS so will see what happens. It was heavily discounted in the sale & one that I would have been happy to buy at a more expensive price so if there's a charge I'll be ok with it...I'll keep you posted!

I placed a 70 euro order from ASOS on the 6th January. It was dispatched on the 8th and delivered on the 11th via premier delivery by DHL. It shipped directly from Germany to Shannon. No extra charges.

I've just received a full refund from Toast, and a nice apologetic email, for the record. This must be a nightmare for so many UK companies Sad

I received 2 packages today, from Cos and New Balance, no extra charges, yay!

On the downside a site I use a lot for shoes for my dc won't ship to the EU at the moment, and dd is still waiting for an Urban Outfitters parcel that shipped on Dec 29th.

Disappointed Irish person here! If I have an An Post Address Pal address and buy from John Lewis, will I be charged VAT and import duties? Or is that a stupid question? xx

I think I heard JL are definitely not on the safe list, but better do a bit of research because I haven't looked into it myself, I've never bought from there myself.

And I think AP is a bust because its still coming into the EU from the UK.
